Chapter 14: Unshackled Power
Celeste stood in the middle of the underground chamber, Aether flickering around her in shifting waves of light. The energy in the air felt—wild, untamed, and free. It felt different from before. For the first time, she wasn't forcing Aether into rigid forms by the Pantheon's rules. She was letting it flow
Lyra crossed her arms, watching closely. "Better. But you're still hesitating."
Celeste clenched her fists, "I'm not hesitating. I'm adjusting."
Lyra smirked. "We'll see."
She flicked her wrist, and in an instant, a wave of violet Aether surged toward Celeste. This time, Celeste didn't react with a pre-planned counter. Instead, She twisted her fingers slightly, letting her Aether move in . The energy crackled outward, as a shifting spiral of force.
Lyra's attack wavered. In that moment of instability Celeste needed. She redirected the spiraling Aether toward the ground, creating a shockwave that sent Lyra sliding back.
For a second, there was silence. Then Lyra grinned. "Now that's what I wanted ."
The other resistance members murmured in approval. Elias nodded. "You're starting to understand Aether The gods have spent centuries forcing us to believe it has limits. "
Celeste steadied her breath, her fingers still tingling from the raw energy.
But this was only the beginning.
The First Mission
Elias told Celeste to follow him "You're ready for your first mission."
Celeste looked at him . "What is it?"
Elias motioned toward a map on the wall. It depicted a heavily guarded structure in the upper district of Eidolon. "One of the Pantheon's reliquaries. A vault where they have artifacts of power, relics from before the gods took control of Aether."
Celeste's eyes narrowed. "why are you showing me this?"
Elias chuckled. " We want you to make a statement."
Lyra leaned against the wall. "You're going to destroy their sigil network—destroy their ability to track Unbound Aether."
Celeste Looked Up
She was ready.
