After the school trip ended, Kuroka and I started heading to Magari's place on weekends for training.

As for my senjutsu, Magari praised me for having solid fundamentals when it came to manipulating my own ki, but said I was only so-so at sensing other living beings' ki and still had a long way to go with feeling the ki of nature itself.

"Seriously, what kind of twisted training would even produce results like that?"

The spatial stuff seemed manageable as an application of barrier techniques, but time manipulation was apparently several levels harder. I'd often see her holding her head going, "What the hell does 'four-dimensional spacetime is a membrane-like four-dimensional cross-section in five-dimensional spacetime where only gravity can propagate' even mean?!" Yeah, I had no clue either!

The training progressed... smoothly? Let's go with that.

"...So anyway, that's how Magari dropped me from 5,000 meters up today too."

I'm back in my room now, talking to the tube fox Izuna.

Since Izuna's clones share the same consciousness, they can instantly share information with other clones, and we can use that to basically make phone calls.

The Izuna clone I left in Kyoto is usually with Kunou, and we chat about random stuff a few times a week.

I cut the connection with Izuna.

Kuroka wrapped her arms around my neck from behind and pressed her gigantic weapon against me!

Her physical contact has definitely increased since the school trip ended.

Something really soft is hitting the back of my head! I think my favorability with Kuroka went up after the tsuchigumo incident, but her provide me with genes stance hasn't changed, so I can't make a move.

Kuroka probably wouldn't mind, but as a guy, I want her to actually like me first—a purely physical relationship with Kuroka... Yeah. Just putting that into words makes it sound dangerously lewd.

She killed her master and tried to escape with her sister, but pursuers were sent after them unnaturally quickly, and they got separated.

After they were separated, she learned her sister faced persecution and nearly got executed, which filled her with guilt.

She came to this town to check whether her sister, who had become part of the Gremory family, was in danger or being mistreated.

Her sister now goes by Toujou Koneko and attends Kuoh Academy's middle school, so she was worried that when her sister advanced to high school, someone would discover her presence.

...I already knew these facts. But hearing her tell it herself with that somewhat dark expression gave her words a weight that text alone couldn't convey.

"Ahaha, I've really been going in circles with everything. The whole mess started when I made the mistake of relying on the organization my good-for-nothing father belonged to."

She gave a dry, self-deprecating laugh.

"But that's not entirely your fault, is it? When you're a kid, it's natural to try to rely on the adults around you for anything, and even gods or Maou(Demon king) couldn't live their entire lives making only the best choices."

"Maybe so... but that doesn't change the fact that I couldn't protect Shirone..."

"That's not true!"

No response. Looks like she's committed to sulking, so I had no choice but to wrap myself in a blanket on the floor and go to sleep too—just before I lost consciousness, I thought I heard a quiet "thanks" but I might have imagined it.

Time passed, the new year came (I even prayed for exam success at a Kyoto shrine), and we settled on having Kuroka cast a presence-concealing technique when her sister entered the high school division of Kuoh Academy.

The Three Perverted Idiots were studying for exams with deadly serious expressions—apparently believing that Kuoh Academy's high female ratio meant a dream harem awaited them.

Koneko was standing there—why is she here (in the high school section)?!
