You're like an open book to me," she said dryly. "An open book that is hard to open sometimes, sure, where the writing is hard to decipher here and there admittedly, but some qualities of said open book are there."

"You like books," Harry sniffed.

"I do, which is why I like you," she smiled.

"Are you doing one of your therapy and mind healing tricks on me?" he asked without any actual accusation. "Buttering me up, building a rapport, then getting me to spill my secrets?"

"Harry, and I say this with utter sincerity and actual care, you're my best friend and I love you very much," Hermione said, reaching out and taking his hand and looking at him with complete seriousness. "And being my best friend, you are one of the most stubborn people I have ever known and for me to say that, that means something. So if, and that's a big if, I can get you to open up about something willingly without poking and prodding, then I will absolutely use that tactic when I can."

"Ah ha, knew it. I'm just a test subject for you," Harry said, not succeeding in sounding wounded and looking pleased and happy.

"Among other things," Hermione smiled and let his hand go after they squeezed each other. "So about those dates you allegedly are having."

"Not for two months," Kreacher croaked as he appeared, refilling the decanter with more wine and their water glasses and taking the empty containers.

"Not gentlemanly!" Harry called after as Kreacher disappeared. He sighed and looked at a smug Hermione. "I could ask you the same."

"You know I just got out of one," Hermione said. "Remember? I came here upset and you doused me in ice cream and warmth and then went to....
