Chapter 97: True Monster
The manager did not leave for long. He returned carrying a long glass case, inside which was a golden spear about 1.5 meters in length, radiating a faint glow that seemed like it would never fade.
The manager placed the glass case on the table, looked at Evylin, and said,
"What do you think of this spear, Your Highness? It has the ability to increase its weight up to 50 tons. This is one of the best among Tier 3 Weapons. I'm afraid it's hard to find one better than this."
His words slightly surprised Oliver. His body weight was 3,000 kg—only equivalent to 3 tons. Of course, that was because he hadn't obtained any more Special Protein, so his body weight lagged behind his cultivation realm.
But even if he increased his body weight to match his realm, it would only be 10.5 tons—still far below the maximum weight of the spear.
"How much is it?" Evylin replied, opening the glass case and picking up the golden spear to inspect it herself.
"If you want to pay with Monster Cores, the price is 1,200 Level 21 Monster Cores," the fat manager answered in a somewhat subdued voice.
He seemed a little afraid to mention the price, but Evylin calmly passed her Storage Ring toward him.
"I don't have Level 21 Monster Cores, but I do have eighty Level 35 Monster Cores. They should be equal in value. If you don't mind, make the transfer right away," she said.
Hearing her words, the manager's head immediately nodded quickly.
"Your Highness, since you're paying with Level 35 Monster Cores, there's a 10% discount, so I'll only take seventy-two," he said.
He took Evylin's Storage Ring, transferred seventy-two Level 35 Monster Cores into his own Storage Ring, and then returned hers.
"Take it." Evylin promptly handed the golden spear to Oliver.
When he held it, Oliver could feel the spear's power. Combining it with void particles would practically make those particles even more ferocious.
"Thank you, Master!" Oliver was very happy and satisfied, feeling that his teacher was truly generous.
The manager finally understood Oliver's identity in relation to Evylin. The fact that he was using a Tier 3 Weapon meant that his cultivation was by no means weak.
He thought he should gather data on Oliver and send it to headquarters so they would know this young man was a special guest who must be treated with equal respect.
"Your Highness, is there anything else you need?" the manager asked.
"Yes, we want to exchange something," Evylin replied.
"I'd like to know what it is," the manager said.
"The Otherworldly Black Rose," Evylin answered, and the manager's eyes instantly lit up.
"I want it exchanged for ten Black Banana Roots and ten Giant Dragon Fruits, plus the Life Skeleton held by your headquarters."
Oliver couldn't help but look at Evylin when he heard her words.
The Life Skeleton?
What was that?
Of course, it was clearly related to the power of life, but he wasn't sure just how special it was.
The manager lightly nodded at Evylin's words.
"Let me contact my boss first," he said.
After saying that, he left his office again. Apparently, he needed a place without people to make the call.
Once he was gone, Evylin looked at Oliver.
"Your progress with the void power will always go smoothly. But your life power won't be as smooth. The Life Skeleton is very special—it will enhance your talent for life power, and the life power you possess will also become stronger, with far better healing effects. It will even double your energy reserves, and you'll also be able to enlarge your body. If you have that skeleton, even if you're only at the Tenth Stage of the Spiritual Master Realm, a First Stage Earth Master might find it very difficult just to injure you, let alone kill you."
Oliver needed time to digest his teacher's explanation.
At the same time, something made him puzzled.
"Master, will the skeleton be implanted in my body?" he asked.
"Of course, but don't worry—it will fuse with your skeleton, not replace the bones in your body," Evylin replied.
Oliver let out a sigh of relief. He couldn't imagine having his bones replaced.
"In that case, if I merge with the skeleton, maybe I'll have a chance to pass the trial at the Mountain of Life," he said with a thoughtful gaze.
But Evylin smiled when she heard that and said, "That might not be enough. You'll need more accumulation in life."
After she said that, the manager finally returned with a faint smile.
"Your Highness, my boss has approved this transaction. He will send his son to deliver the items you requested as soon as possible. You may need to wait about an hour," he said.
"Alright…" Evylin stood up as she responded.
"We'll wait on the rooftop. Oliver, come on…" She waved her hand before taking a step forward.
The rooftop of the Path of Power Shop was actually a restaurant, but the food served there was made from ingredients of the Chaotic World.
Oliver followed his teacher while his mind shifted to his manifestation that was still inside General Eagle's nest.
He was no longer being tortured, only chained to a tree.
The chains even sealed his power, making him completely helpless.
If observed closely, his body was now full of holes caused by the eagle's beak attacks.
"Human…" General Eagle had left briefly but came back to him again.
Oliver, pretending to be in misery, looked at him curiously.
"The king has begun his evolution. Once he succeeds, he will take over your body. Of course, the king doesn't need your insignificant power—he only wants to make you his new vessel. Your body now meets the requirements. You should be proud—you will become the human form of our Eagle King. Guaranteed, your name will be famous with the power of our king."
After saying that, the Eagle King grabbed Oliver with his talons before flying off, though his body was still chained.
He carried him to the Eagle King's nest.
Oliver could see above the nest in the sky, all the giant eagles were gathering.
When he looked at the nest, he found an enormous sphere of light, composed of white and golden hues, filling the entire nest so that nothing else could be seen.
It should be noted that the nest was as vast as one hundred football fields, yet the light completely filled it.
And it wasn't just light—it carried a tremendously ferocious and oppressive aura.
'Power like this… can Evylin fight against it?' Oliver wondered.
He wasn't sure exactly what realm his teacher was in. She could be in the Sky Master Realm or even higher, considering she was the strongest cultivator in England, equal to the most powerful Awakeners.
But unfortunately, he didn't know at what level they stood.
'Without a doubt, their power could destroy a city,' he thought.
He observed the golden-white light within the Eagle King's nest.
It was indeed a spectacular phenomenon, but he felt there was no benefit in just staring at the light.
He then extended his Void Sense into the light, directly through the void—something he could do since his comprehension had advanced greatly.
Without going through the void, his Void Sense would have been shattered by the overpowering light.
Now, it was even harder for his Void Sense to be detected.
Before long, he found the figure of the Eagle King, the source of the massive light.
To his surprise, the Eagle King's massive body was gradually shrinking, yet its aura became far more ferocious.
And then Oliver saw a human figure appear above the Eagle King's body—but only as a shadow. A bald man with a somewhat thin build.
At the same time, the eagle's body began to collapse, then was absorbed by the human figure, which quickly grew more solid, though it still looked more like a shadow.
'It seems it's not that easy to become human,' Oliver thought.
Naturally, he had studied True Monsters.
They were still monsters—their original bodies remained monstrous. They only gained the ability to take human form.
However, shaping a human body was still difficult for them. That was why they needed sacrifices from humans, with the minimum requirement being humans who had reached the Earth Master Realm or Level 25 Awakener.
The flesh of such humans was a resource for True Monsters to form their own flesh.
And they could also copy the appearance of the humans they sacrificed.
They did this whenever they realized the human form they initially created wasn't good-looking—or rather, handsome or beautiful.
Naturally, they wanted a pleasing appearance as well.
Only if their natural form was already attractive would they refrain from copying a sacrificed human's appearance.
'This too is part of life—or rather, life power…'
While observing this evolution process, Oliver felt he had gained some insights into life—specifically, into evolution.
The Ordo of Life should focus on the evolution of life—transforming weak and mortal beings into creatures with extremely strong vitality, making them difficult to kill.
Unfortunately, the Ordo of Life he possessed was only 10% of the whole, and now he couldn't advance it any further.
Of course, the insights he gained could still be stored.
He was sure they would be useful when he faced the trial at the Mountain of Life later.
Understanding 3% of what was given in just one hour sounded impossible, and indeed it was. But surely, the being who set the trial wouldn't give an outright impossible task.
Most likely, he only wanted to challenge those who trained in life power—or more precisely, he wanted someone with proper accumulation.
