Chapter 78: Absolute Fusion Technique's Secret
'Master never mentioned this place... Maybe it's an ancient graveyard that hasn't been discovered,' Oliver thought.
He suppressed the fear rising in his body by repeatedly reminding himself that he was just a manifestation.
According to his own theory, the fear he felt wasn't caused by any direct threat, but rather by the overwhelming presence of powerful beings buried beneath the graves.
Their auras, fused with death itself, filled the air—producing an instinctive fear.
If he were stronger than them, he was certain he wouldn't feel this fear at all.
He stepped closer to one of the graves.
As one of the tombstones came into clear view, he noticed a name written on it—using the same language as the scriptures and techniques, so Cultivators like Oliver could read it.
Leng Hong, the Panda Man.
"Huh… A panda man actually existed?" Oliver hadn't expected to read something like that.
According to current theories, there was no such thing as a human mixed with animals.
Creatures like werewolves and the like were nothing more than fantasy. Even if a human and a wolf mated, there was no way a child could result.
It was pure fiction.
Even among Cultivators, such things were deemed impossible. However, there was one theory in the cultivation world: that a human might become a werewolf-like being through the Absolute Fusion Technique.
'Unless the owner of this grave was a Cultivator who had mastered at least 5% of the Absolute Fusion Technique?' Oliver quickly grew suspicious.
He scanned the other graves using his Void Sense and found similar inscriptions.
Not just Panda Men, but also Wolf Men, Lion Men, Eagle Men, Tree Men, and many others.
'If they fused with monsters, then it makes sense that their forms grew massive. Perhaps they died in battle and never had the chance to revert back to human form,' Oliver speculated.
Despite the lingering fear in his heart, his eyes couldn't help but shine brightly.
'There might be something here that could help me understand the Absolute Fusion Technique. Yes—it's incredibly difficult to comprehend, but if so many people managed to master it, then maybe there's a certain method here to grasp it more easily.'
Oliver grew excited.
He had always found the Absolute Fusion Technique too hard to comprehend. In certain situations, he had managed to slightly increase his understanding—but it was still far below the minimum requirement of 5%.
'Is it possible that every one of my manifestations appears in a place where I can find some form of fortune?' he wondered, wearing a strange expression. Both of his manifestations that entered the Chaotic World had stumbled upon their own fortunes.
He began walking, expanding his Void Sense further, becoming more convinced that something here could help him.
The more he explored, the more he realized just how many of these colossal graves there were.
From a high vantage point, he estimated they weren't just in the thousands, but perhaps tens of thousands.
It was too vast an area to explore alone.
He even considered bringing his real body here to search more thoroughly, but the risk was too high—he couldn't predict what danger might lurk.
After some thought, he grew interested in digging one of the graves.
Given the length of the graves, the depth could easily reach hundreds of meters, but Oliver was no longer a weak Cultivator—such digging was within his power.
He picked a grave at random—one belonging to a Lion Man.
All the graves looked identical, so he couldn't tell which ones were more important than others.
With a single step, he appeared atop the tombstone.
'Rather than Void Particles, perhaps the Black Hole will be more effective in digging through this grave,' he thought.
He aimed his hand downward and unleashed his Black Hole from within his body.
Then, he poured spiritual energy into the Black Hole without holding back.
Though it looked small compared to the size of the grave, when it released its full suction force, the ground covering the grave was pulled away at an incredible rate.
The result exceeded Oliver's expectations. Delighted, he pushed himself even harder, increasing the Black Hole's power.
He shouldn't have been able to use this technique for too long, but he still had reserves of energy.
He believed that with his reserves, he could remove all the soil covering the grave.
"Eh…"
Before the Black Hole had dug too deep, he suddenly saw a long claw.
'Looks like the corpse has been pushed upward,' he thought.
This wasn't uncommon—sometimes corpses in graves rose closer to the surface or sank deeper depending on the ground's conditions.
As soon as he saw the claw, everything quickly began to reveal itself.
Oliver saw a massive corpse—a complete fusion of man and lion.
Its head was that of a lion, fierce with a thick mane, while the body was still mostly humanoid, though covered in lion's fur.
There was a large hole in its chest, and the corpse's eyes were still open—staring wide, though void of life.
More importantly, the oppressive aura from the body still lingered—that was the source of the fear Oliver had been feeling.
Even seeing a corpse that large stirred unease and discomfort in him.
But then he realized something else.
'This is definitely the result of the Absolute Fusion Technique.'
He already had some understanding of the technique, so he could see the traces of it in the corpse—something hard to describe with words and impossible to comprehend for anyone unfamiliar with the technique.
He was convinced that the technique was incredibly difficult, requiring rare talent—and his own talent was sufficient. He simply lacked patience.
But could every person buried in this graveyard have the same talent as him, enough to master the Absolute Fusion Technique?
That was impossible. Even among legendary cultivators in the Chaotic World, it was rare to find anyone who progressed as quickly as he had.
So the only logical conclusion was the same as his initial guess: there must be a specific method to understand the Absolute Fusion Technique.
Perhaps that method belonged to a particular faction—now buried in this graveyard.
'But… can I truly obtain that method… from just a corpse?'
