A Cultivator in the World Dominated By Awakeners

Chapter 3: Try

"Do you now understand your own body well enough?" Evylin asked, while Oliver instinctively nodded his head repeatedly.

"With such a unique body, cultivation will be practically easier for you. Even understanding the scripture and techniques that came with your body won't be as difficult as learning external Scriptures or Techniques. If you want to know more about your scripture or techniques, just think about asking for their description, and the descriptions will appear in front of your eyes."

Upon hearing that, Oliver instinctively thought about asking for a description of Black Hole.

(Black Hole allows you to devour everything around you. You possess one Black Hole hidden inside your body, which you can use for cultivation. Until your understanding of Black Hole reaches 5%, you will not be able to send it outside of your body for battle use!)

Oliver read that description with great curiosity and then asked for the description of Void Body Transformation.

(Void Body Transformation allows you to turn your body into void, which will nullify anything that touches you and anything you touch.

If you wish to transform your body into void, you need to raise your understanding to 10%.

Right now, you can only manifest void lines across your body. Reach 1% understanding to transform at least one part of your body into void!)

"Why do I already have some understanding of the scripture and one of the techniques?" Oliver asked, slightly confused because not everything started at 0 percent.

"That's normal, since all of these came from within you. As someone with an innate gift, it's more accurate to say your cultivation journey is simply about uncovering your own potential," Evylin explained.

Oliver nodded again after hearing that.

It seemed his teacher didn't mind answering all of his questions.

"Then… is there a quick way to improve understanding?" he asked again.

Even though Evylin said it was easier for him, it still felt difficult.

This was actually the main reason why many people failed to cultivate—because they couldn't raise their understanding of their scriptures or techniques.

Their comprehension remained basic. If they could truly understand their scriptures and techniques, it would be much easier for them to improve their cultivation.

"Our progress as Cultivators isn't like the Awakeners—we move forward step by step. But of course, we can progress faster with the help of various resources. There are many types—some boost our Spiritual Energy, some increase our Will Energy, and some enhance our understanding. You can find all of those in the Chaotic World. And when you find something there, your ring will give you a description of it."

"Chaotic World..."

Oliver's expression turned serious at the mention of that place—where everything began. A world full of monsters and strange phenomena, it was the place Awakeners explored.

"Before you go there, make sure you've raised at least one of your technique's understanding to 1%," Evylin added.

After saying that, she suddenly placed her phone in front of her.

"Write your phone number so we can stay in contact," she said.

Oliver quickly typed his phone number into her phone.

She saved his number and sent him a message.

"If you ever need to ask something, just text me—but don't call."

"I understand… In that case, I'll take my leave now," Oliver replied.

He understood clearly that his teacher wanted him to leave and get to work on something.

As he stood up, he cupped his fists once again in respect.

There was no one outside the door when Oliver stepped out.

His expression was calm, but his heart was full of passion.

Even though he failed to awaken, now he truly believed he could still become someone incredibly powerful.

He had even become the disciple of the Head of the Cultivator Association.

The only downside was, Cultivators didn't receive any money—unlike the Awakeners who got paid just for awakening, and even more if they awakened with a high-level skill.

The reason Awakeners were paid so much was because they provided great contributions and resources to the government.

It wasn't the same for Cultivators—they consumed a lot of resources instead.

However, if he became stronger, Oliver believed he'd be able to earn plenty of money in the future.

He went downstairs and immediately caught the gazes of many people.

Those who saw what happened to him in the pool clearly hadn't left yet.

They were curious about what happened to him, especially since he was invited personally by the Head of the Association.

"Mr. Whitemoon, here is your Cultivator Identification Card!"

Just as he arrived, the same guard handed him a new ID card, already complete with an identification number—even though he hadn't registered or given them any of his details.

It seemed this was something the association could easily obtain on their own.

Oliver accepted the new ID card, feeling quite happy.

Only those who had reached the First Stage would be given one. Though no money came with it, that didn't mean there weren't any privileges. One of them was free access to public transportation like buses and trains.

It was said that three years ago, the five heads of the Awakener Associations in the country demanded the government grant these privileges.

Oliver ignored the curious stares around him.

He stepped out of the castle, wanting to hurry home and share the good news with his mother.

Since even the association members treated him with respect, ordinary people naturally wouldn't dare bother him.

He left with ease and then began running toward a bus that had just started to drive away.

As he ran, he realized that his speed was no longer the same.

It was twice as fast as before.

'It seems to be true that one advancement of a Cultivator is equivalent to two advancements of an Awakener,' he thought.

That was the advantage of being a Cultivator. One breakthrough could double their strength. If it was a realm breakthrough, the increase would be even more significant.

But still, becoming stronger was easier for Awakeners because their progress came more easily.

Oliver managed to catch up to the bus and got inside, earning strange looks from the other passengers.

He didn't care. Seeing there was an empty seat, he sat down and closed his eyes, focusing on sensing his own body to understand his techniques.

Meditation, this was something Cultivators often did.

While meditating, they could even absorb Spiritual Energy.

However, Oliver found it slightly difficult right now. It seemed he would need to raise his understanding of Black Hole to 2% first.

It's not that it's impossible if his understanding of a scripture is lacking. In fact, it's still possible. What's important is that there is a certain percentage of understanding that leads to the next stage, but if it's not complete, the process of absorbing energy will be slower and more difficult.

Some people may still succeed, but it will result in poor cultivation foundations.

'So this is how it works...'

While meditating, Oliver began to feel the presence of things hidden within his body—something that might've already been there since last night, but he only now noticed.

He struggled a bit trying to understand Black Hole further, but Void Body Transformation was surprisingly easier—since it already had slight progress but hadn't yet reached 1%.

What he basically needed to do was figure out how to transfer the void lines appearing across his body into one specific body part.

If successful, it would reach 1%.

If this weren't an innate technique, who knew how difficult it would be?

But since it came from within him, Oliver could draw inspiration from his own body as a Void Body owner.

What his teacher had said was true—this was simply about unlocking his own potential.

As he kept working to understand the technique, he lost track of time.

But it kept rising. He could see the data even with his eyes closed.

After who knows how long, it finally reached 1%.

Void Body Transformation (1%) +0.55

"Sir, sir, wake up! This bus needs to return to the terminal!"

Suddenly, Oliver heard a voice and felt his shoulder being tapped repeatedly.

When he opened his eyes, he found the sky was already dark and the bus was now empty—except for him and the driver, who had just woken him up.

Oliver instinctively looked at the digital clock hanging at the front of the bus and saw that it was already 8 PM.

About five hours had passed since he boarded the bus.

"Damn it!" he cursed as he stood up.

"Why didn't you wake me up earlier?" he asked the driver in frustration.

"Don't blame me. If you want to meditate, do it at home—not on my bus," the driver replied, annoyed at being scolded.

"Now hurry up and pay," he added.

"I'm a Cultivator. It's free for me," Oliver replied, showing his Cultivator ID card.

The driver was left speechless when he saw it, and Oliver quickly rushed off the bus.
