Talon stared at the fins slicing through the water beneath the edge of the ship.
That morning, he never imagined that the honest Captain Calista Merrow would call him to her cabin in the middle of the night and propose selling the ship’s cargo to a group of mercenary pirates.
They were soldiers of his nation, transporting nuclear warheads, and obviously Talon refused, thinking it was a joke. The two laughed, and now, in the morning, he had dozens of rifles aimed at his back as he walked the plank.
The shadows of the massive sharks were visible on the surface of the water. He was being discarded, abandoned by his once trustworthy captain.
In exchange for what? Money? Status? Power?
Soon, a harpoon was used to shove him forward, and he began walking the plank.
Talon turned to face the pirates who had already boarded the military ship and his captain.
He was about to speak, to shout some curse, but all he saw was the barrel of her pistol and fire burning in his chest.
His body gave out and fell toward the sharks’ open jaws.
