In the expansive setting that is The Oblivion Cycle universe there are many people and characters integral to the setting itself.  they there are the untold millions of dock workers, cargo ship captains and others that go unnamed and unmentioned in the lore.  Ineen Aldrop is one of these previously unmentioned characters, now brought to life in these works.  They are an in-setting science fiction writer, and these are stories of theirs that can be found inside the setting itself.  Meta-stories if you will. This story follows a human from 2019's Earth as they are first taken by aliens and then make their way on their own.  The story follows a man named Paulie Marmook, a down to Earth sort that simply makes his way through life one day at a time.  But things quickly take a turn for the surreal as they see a bright light above them in the park at night.  Pretty soon they find themselves struggling through cramped starships, across low gravity moons and through crowded alien markets as they try to make sense of this new reality their life has become.  They will find powerful friends, sinister enemies and learn truths about humanity so shocking that they may just shatter the very foundations of the greater galactic community itself.  But Paulie is a fighter, he won't let a little thing like the very fate of the galaxy stand between him and what he see's as right.  No, he will take each challenge in stride till he eventually ends up at the top of this new world, or winds up dead.
