Zombie Apocalypse: I Have Safe Zone Superpower

Chapter 73: Gotham City

"Mom is trying to find an antidote, while the military has deployed regulations asking the citizens to stay at their homes." Silas didn't look relaxed and instead looked worried.

Ivy understood his source of worry. Zombies have started to attack the buildings and now.. Chaos has begun already.

Many will leave the building or home they are leaving and flee to safer cities. One of the places is Gotham City, the one where they are living.

Soon, many refugees will rush here, and new bases will emerge. Gotham City will become the hub of all the important bases in Country U.

But before reaching that phase, many disasters will take place. One of them is the impending wave of Typhoid fever and Giardiasis, and water sources getting contaminated.

'If only.. I could hoard medicines.' Ivy thought in her heart.

"Thanks for your insight, I will go and share the news with Mom," Silas said and stood up. Before he could leave, he paused and reminded in a gentle voice,

"Remember to eat breakfast I have made. The lunch is in the refrigerator and rest for more. Don't go out frequently and stay away from all the sharp objects."

Hearing his series of reminders, Ivy was speechless, but she nodded anyway.

"Remember to not go out for the next 4 hours!" Silas emphasized, causing Ivy to freeze.

"Why 4 hours?" She asked, her heart skipping a beat.

"Just know this, everything will be good as long as you stay away from danger for the next 4 hours," Silas said and left.

"It's not like my Jinx will go away in 4 hours…" Midway through her sentence, Ivy froze, and the casual comment ignited an idea in her mind.

'Maybe Silas can see when I Jinx act up and… when it will be over…' She mused, her heart pounding in exhilaration.

If that was true, then… doesn't it mean that she just needs to stay away from her loved ones only when her jinx was triggered?

The possibility filled Ivy with a newfound hope.

'Don't jump to conclusions, Ivy! There has been no solid proof. Till now, everything is your assumptions.'

Taking a deep breath, Ivy went to the guest room, and since she was busy in her thought, she accidentally hit one of the stools and fell on the ground.

'Ugh… first, I should wait for the jinx to pass, right?'

For the next 4 hours, Ivy stayed in her room and cooped up on her bed. Time passed slowly, and once 4 hours were over, Ivy left the apartment.

She reached a clearing in the forest just behind the military, and after making sure there was no one around, she ordered.

"Temporal Storage place the bathroom out."

[Commencing the order…]

Whoosh.

A bright light enveloped the surroundings before fading. What came to Ivy's view was the bathroom she had in the Temporal storage.

Ivy's eyes brightened, and she waved her hand. The bathroom flashed before it got stored in the storage again.

"It works! It works!" Ivy's eyes brightened. The little experiment filled her with joy. At least a part of it.

She immediately ordered,

"Can you make a building with 10 floors?"

[Would you like to make a building with 10 floors? The cost is 20kb.]

Ivy sucked in a deep breath. So expensive? F*ck.

"Yes."

After upgrading the storage, she was still left with 66.7 kb. She just hoped that the building would be worth it.

[Commencing the order… Error occurred.]

Ivy's heart sank. Can the temporal storage only be used to make bathrooms? What a waste.

[Insufficient level.]

"Oh." She heaved a sigh of relief and asked, "What level of buildings can you make?"

Realizing that the Temporal Storage won't reply to her, she could only change her words and say,

"Make a 5-floor building."

[Would you like to make a building with 5 floors? The cost is 10kb.]

"Yes."

[Commencing the order… Error occurred.]

[Insufficient level.]

She didn't give up until she surmised, "I can make a building at all! I need to upgrade this damn storage again!"

Indeed, she was being naive when she thought she could build a base with this omniscient golden finger.

"But at least there is hope." Ivy thought. The thought of being able to protect her family, friends, and her lover from the impending doom, her heart bloomed with hope.

She returned to the apartment and went to the kitchen. After having the delicious lunch, Ivy watched the utensils in the space.

Suddenly, she remembered that she had been eating Silas's food and hadn't returned his portion to him yet.

She opened the refrigerator and saw some vegetables and some canned foods. Ivy put 3 jars of peanut butter, 5 cans of tomato paste and sauce, and 10 packs of long-life juice and milk.

These were the loot from Patrick's house, and if it wasn't for the space problem, she would have continued to put more.

Then she took out the food obtained from the Ravencroft family and placed it in the kitchen.

"At least I have given him all the food I have stolen from him once."

After finishing her stocking-up task, she was about to start her workout when her expression turned dazed, and she started to walk out of the apartment.

Like a robot, Ivy left the military compound and walked for an entire hour. When she came to her senses, she felt like cursing.

She was standing in the middle of an open road, while the horde of zombies passed by her.

The only luck she had was her first superpower, which hid her presence and unconsciously protected her from the zombies.

Sure enough, a timer appeared in the air, and the ground glowed with light. The next second, the timer started, and Ivy looked down expectantly.

Will she get something different this time? Spices? Fruits? Vegetables? Canned food? Or snacks?

"Eh? What is happening?" Ivy was stunned by the scene on the ground.
