Chapter 562: City Sales
"What about it, Mr.Governor?" Mr.Pan curiously asked.
"After these two cities, it's going to be a while for the next one... Who knows if it takes a whole year for the next one?
I would take this deal if I were you guys... Unless, of course, you plan to do nothing or you plan to risk outside of the safety zone."
The moment Xiaoyun finished talking, all of the minor representatives started looking back at the sales paper instead of the installment plan that Houqin had passed out.
Even Mr.Tian, who was just about to sign the document, froze in place. His pen was in the air right above the signature line.
"I almost forgot to mention, whoever signs the deal first will get the option to pick first——"
"Mr.Governor, I'd like to take the deal."
"Very well, Miss Liu. Houqin, show her the area that she can pick from."
As Houqin pulled out a remote and pressed a button, everyone was a little surprised to see that a projector was showing a map of Zhaoqing.
"Mr.Governor, I'd like to take the deal as well." Mr.Pan joined in next, realizing the opportunity that was slowly slipping out of his hands.
"That's great to hear... Oh, sorry. I need to leave for something. Houqin will take my place for the rest of the negotiation."
All the representative was caught off guard as Xiaoyun walked out of the room with zero explanation given.
"Miss Houqin, I'd like to take the deal as well." A minor salvage group representative requested.
"Give me a second, let me pull out the signature document for each of you..."
---
Outside the room, Xiaoyun was instantly greeted by Yuqi, who had been waiting outside almost the entire time.
"Why are you out so early? Is the negotiation done?"
"Pretty much done. I'm just leaving early to create a little bit more pressure for them to make a decision."
As the two of them entered the elevator, Yuqi's face was filled with curiosity. Yet she didn't ask any questions at all.
Instead, she remained silent, walking through the cubicles until they arrived inside her office.
"Xiaoyun, you're a genius! I can't believe you pulled it off." Yuqi complimented as she closed the door behind her.
"Of course, of course. I'm well aware of my genius."
Seeing him acting all smug about it, Yuqi gently shoved his arm before they sat down next to each other on the office sofa.
"Don't celebrate so early. You don't know if they really accept the deal. If half of them took that installment plan, I'm going to..."
"You're going to do what?"
"G-Going to kick your butt. Hmph!"
"Well, that's not going to happen. What will my reward be if I pull everything off perfectly?" Xiaoyun asked.
"Reward? You started the mess, I ain't about to reward you for cleaning up your own mess."
"Okay fine. Whatever. Not like I want a reward from you anyway."
Seeing his smug face again, Yuqi gently punched Xiaoyun as a protest. But he instantly snatched it before tickling her sides.
"Stop! Hahaha——Stop! It tickles! I-I 'm not going to reward you!" Yuqi stubbornly answered as she laughed out loud.
"My reward or my life!" Xiaoyun jokingly responded, continuing to tick her soft belly sides.
"Okay, okay. What reward do you want?"
"I need a million dollars."
The laughter stopped as the room fell into a cold silence. Yuqi turned her head as she stared right into his eyes.
"You serious? You want a million dollars?"
Xiaoyun nodded his head with full seriousness on his face. Not giving her any room to compromise, as he stared right back at her.
"What do you need a million dollars for?" Yuqi questioned curiously.
"I need it to build some tanks for the front line. It's going to speed up the fighting and provide a lot more safety for the soldiers.
And the sooner I make an order for it, the faster we can put them on the battlefield. Not to mention, I need a real test on those tanks in case they don't work as intended——"
Before Xiaoyun could continue his rambling, Yuqi immediately raised her hand, covering his mouth before letting it go.
"Okay, okay. You don't have to bug me constantly... I'll allocate a million over to the military. But you better not ask me again for another raise."
"Of course, of course. Thank you, darling. You're the best wife ever!" Xiaoyun happily celebrated as he grabbed onto her waist.
"Mhm, so I'm the worst wife ever if I don't accept your demand?" Yuqi questioned.
"Um, I-I mean you're the best wife regardless. But you're now even better! Yeah! Best wife of all time——"
As Xiaoyun tried to drown out the awkwardness with his loud noise, Yuqi quickly covered his mouth with her hand.
"Shush, stop being so loud in my office," Yuqi warned as she slowly removed her hand.
"Sorry."
---
When Houqin arrived upstairs inside Yuqi's office with an entire plastic container filled with paper, it was already an hour later.
"Commander, the deal is all finalized," Houqin reported as she gently put the plastic container onto the ground.
"Thank you... How many of them accepted the deal?" Xiaoyun asked curiously.
"Seven of them accepted the deal, and three of them accepted the installment plans," Houqin answered.
"Three is not that bad... Did the big three accept the deal or the installment plan?" Xiaoyun inquired.
"Both Miss Liu and Mr.Pan accepted the deal. But Mr.Tian still chose the installment plan over the deal."
"Crap... That's fine. I should have expected that."
Xiaoyun replied, his mind remembering Mr.Tian was the only major one located in Foshan, a city that was mostly untapped compared to Guangzhou.
"Three installment plan, that's going to be pretty expensive, isn't it?" Yuqi suddenly chimed in as she walked over to the plastic container.
"It's going to be 10 million, madam."
"10 million... 10 million... Where do I pay for this deficit?" Yuqi murmured as she opened the plastic container.
"It's not that bad. It's going to be paid over a year rather than being paid all at once. It's like..."
Xiaoyun paused for a second as his brain did a short calculation before saying out loud.
"Eight hundred thirty-three... thousands. Shit."
"And that's not including interest... If you don't find another source of revenue, you can say goodbye to your tank." Yuqi threatens.
"I... I'm going to find a solution for it. Don't you worry——"
Before he could finish talking, his phone suddenly started ringing. Checking the phone, it was Liuqian who was calling.
"Hello?"
"Governor! I just got four massive loan requests totaling up to 20 million! You're a goddamn prophet!"
"Oh really. That's good to hear. Make sure you charge as high an interest for them."
"Of course, sir. They are in the other room talking to my toughest bank negotiators. They aren't going to walk away that easily."
"Great. Report back to me when the loan deals are finalized."
As Xiaoyun hung up the call, he looked over to Yuqi with a full smile on his face. The plan he had put in place worked perfectly.
"Would you look at that? Looks like the money is rolling in like there's no tomorrow."
"Yeah, yeah. Totally not someone just adding more liquidity into the market without worrying about inflation at all."
Yuqi rolled her eyes as she still didn't look too happy with Xiaoyun's strategy, taking out the document from the plastic containers to read.
"Hey, it's not all going to be inflation like you think. Those salvage groups bring actual goods to our settlements.
It's actually deflating our currency with more goods into the market if you think about it more deeply." Xiaoyun argued.
"Mhm, that's assuming all those goods are actually consumables and not just big machinery that only we can afford from them."
"Hehe..."
Xiaoyun could only awkwardly scratch his head as he didn't really have a way to argue back with the point she had raised.
"Ahem, Commander, can I go back to my work?"
"Of course. You can leave now. Thank you for your work today."
As Houqin left the room, Xiaoyun quickly got up from his seat, walking all the way over to Yuqi before massaging her shoulder.
"Darling, why do you look so grumpy? Is there something else that's bothering you?"
"No, there's nothing," Yuqi answered as she began reading the document that Xiaoyun and Houqin had made for the deal.
"Come on, be honest with me. You don't have to burden yourself with everything. I can help you with some of the work..."
After the continuous pleading for several minutes straight, Yuqi finally had enough as she dropped the document down onto the table.
"Fine. You want to deal with the unemployment problem? You can have a crack at it since you've got nothing else to do."
"Okay!"
Watching Xiaoyun busting out of the room, she rolled her eyes before shifting her attention back to the document at hand.
"Let's see how much area they actually manage to sell...."
