Zodiac Guardian

Ji Mingming smiled and said, "Then, I'll look forward to that. Don't disappoint me!"

Qi Yue nodded then went over to YanXiaoyi. YanXiaoyi looked even more miserable this time, with his nose bone visibly fractured and his face covered in blood. Qi Yue pretended to feel bad for him and said, "I hope you've finally understood why the flowers are so red. Alas, I've become weary of squabbling with someone like you. Go run to your dad tattle, little kindergartener." With that, he refused to spare another glance at YanXiaoyi and walked away with Ji Mingming.

Qi Yue's words hurt YanXiaoyi even more than if he had been killed. His resentful gaze followed their retreating figures. When he managed to get up from the ground, he had already made up his mind.

"Mingming, where are you taking me? Are we really going back to your place?" As they got in a taxi, Ji Mingming gave an address to the driver.

"Of course not. My home isn't a suitable place for your cultivation. I'll get you settled first before I go home to prepare for school. We still have about two months before the semester starts, so you should take this opportunity to practice a bit as well. Remember how Master Zagru once told you that he found three of the Zodiac Guardians? I am only one of them. Now, I am going to take you to meet the most remarkable genius among our generation of Zodiac Guardians — the Dragon." Ji Mingming's voice poured directly into Qi Yue's ears, not afraid of being overheard by the driver.

The Dragon has many abilities and is only second to the Kylin in many aspects. However, the Dragon's cultivation speed is far beyond what the Kylin can match. The Kylin is by nature a harbinger of good fortune and can be considered the commander among the Twelve Zodiac Guardians, while the Dragon is the leader, the most powerful one. Moreover, the Dragon Zodiac Guardian in our region is a real genius. He has reached the Fifth Cloud at the age of twenty-three, an unprecedented feat in history. Normally, it takes Zodiac Guardians five to ten years to breakthrough from the Third Cloud to the Fourth Cloud. Some Zodiac Guardians spend their entire lives just to reach the Fifth Cloud. A Dragon at the Fifth Cloud is absolutely formidable. You must never talk to the Dragon the way you talk to me. Otherwise, I won't be able to help you."

Qi Yue seemed unconvinced and said, "What about me? Aren't I the King of the Zodiac Guardian? Is he really going to bite me or something?"

Ji Mingming covered her mouth to stifle a laugh and replied, "The Dragon is quite old-fashioned and dislikes people like you the most. Anyhow, I've warned you. I'm asking the Dragon to arrange your accommodation and training. You better not offend him. Otherwise, you'll have to face the consequences. The Dragon isn't as easy to talk to as Master Zageru."

Following Ji Mingming's instructions, the taxi drove eastwards, passing through the busiest areas of Capital City. Qi Yue admired the unique and modern architecture around him, feeling a bit strange. Although his trip to Tibet didn't last long, his understanding of Tibet was rather limited, as he had slept through most of the month-long journey. However, he realized that his destiny had completely changed as a result of the trip to Tibet.

Qi Yue never wore a watch. Still, it felt as though they had been driving for about an hour before they finally reached their destination.

In the eastern part of Capital City, there is a large area of villas. This is where the wealthy reside, especially near the Wen Yu Riverside, which is close to the airport. Beautiful scenery and lavish villas abound.

However, the place Ji Mingming brought Qi Yue to wasn't a villa. From the outside, you couldn't see inside. All you could see was a blue brick wall that was three meters high, spiked with sharp iron frames. It seemed like a spear pointing to the sky. The wall enclosed a large area, emanating an air of antiquity due to its blue color.

"This place isn't a prison camp, is it?" Qi Yue joked.

Ji Mingming glanced at him and retorted, "What do you think? This is the Dragon's place. It will also be your home from now on." As she said that, they got out of the taxi and headed towards the gate.

The gate was even taller than the wall, built with thick iron branches that appeared very sturdy.

Ji Mingming went straight to the communication system next to the gate, pressed a few buttons and the grand gate slowly moved apart.

Ji Mingming gestured to Qi Yue before proceeding into the courtyard.

As they entered, a refreshing breeze greeted them. The first thing Qi Yue saw was a vast lawn. This place felt like a golf course, dotted with towering trees. It wasn't any smaller than an actual golf course. Amid the sea of green, a lake spanning thousands of square meters shimmered under the gentle breeze. In the middle of the lake was a small pavilion which added to the serene beauty. A roadway led to the center of the yard, right where a massive villa stood. Qi Yue could only describe that villa as colossal. He had never seen a villa of this magnificent scale before. It felt more like a castle without a spire. He doubted if five-star hotels could match its grandeur.

"Beautiful, isn't it? The Dragon certainly has a good taste. He doesn't like flowers though, so the courtyard is dominated by the color green, and the villa is the only white structure. There's even a large swimming pool on the top floor of the villa."

"Is being a Zodiac Guardian that lucrative? Do I also get something?" Qi Yue was astounded as he stared at the gigantic villa.

"Definitely not. All this wealth is the result of the Dragon's own effort, not given by someone else. If you want to achieve something, you have to work for it yourself."

The two walked down the five-meter wide path towards the villa. When they were about fifty meters away from the villa, the grand door of the villa opened, and a person walked out.

"Sister Dragon!" Ji Mingming cried out excitedly and ran towards the person, leaving Qi Yue behind.

The woman who stepped out of the villa was taller than Ji Mingming by half a head, standing at at least 1.78 meters. Even Qi Yue, who had grown a little after hitting his growth spurt, felt somewhat inferior standing next to this tall woman.

She wore an immaculate white dress, her black hair neatly tied up, and an addition of black-rimmed glasses on her face made her look more like a white-collar beauty than a Zodiac Guardian. Her fair skin gleamed while her generous chest made Ji Mingming, a girl fresh into her growth period, seem rather immature by contrast. Her dress only reached her knees, revealing a pair of round, slender calves. With each of her movements seeming so elegant from the moment she appeared, she radiated a unique, understated charm.

The Dragon is a woman? The fearsome dragon Ji Mingming described was a woman?

Qi Yue quickly touched his nose to make sure he wasn't having a nosebleed. Due to her glasses, it was hard to get a clear look at the Dragon's face, but even just by the outline, one could tell that she was a beauty on par with the most beautiful women in the world. In Qi Yue's internal ranking, this woman, the Dragon, absolutely ranked at the Contentment Level, perhaps even higher. If she wasn't at the Perfection Level, she was extremely close.
