Chapter 59: TST [59]
Morgan nodded as she looked at the card she had just drawn. Taking out Shell Knight wasn't hard—Eldlich had pinpoint removal.
It could send an opponent's card on the field straight to the Graveyard.
What Morgan remained wary of, however, was the [Fossil Fusion] in Dorian's hand. As the archetype's signature Fusion Spell, it couldn't be ignored.
"I activate the effect of [Eldlich the Golden Lord] from my hand!"
Dorian was surprised. As a top duelist from Saint King Club, he knew card names like the back of his hand.
But the one Morgan had declared? He'd never even heard of it.
"Send this card and one Spell or Trap from your hand to the Graveyard; target one card on the field, send it to the Graveyard."
"I send [Eldlich the Golden Lord] and [Eldlixir of Scarlet Sanguine] to the Graveyard!"
"Then target your [Shell Knight]—send it to the Graveyard!"
Morgan pointed straight at Dorian's monster. A pair of massive golden hands erupted from his Graveyard and dragged Shell Knight down into it.
The eerie move instantly dismantled a 2000-DEF wall. Dorian broke into a cold sweat.
…This girl, who seemed frail and had no club backing, was not as simple as she appeared.
Still, Dorian was no rookie. He wouldn't lose his cool over one unexpected play. After all, he had come prepared. He might underestimate, but he would never be careless.
"I activate [Shell Knight]'s effect!"
"If this card is sent to the Graveyard by a card effect, I can add one Level 8 Rock monster from my Deck to my hand!"
He pulled a card from his Deck—a Level 8 [Gaia Plate the Earth Giant].
"Oh! In response to Dorian's setup, the Witch Morgan chooses to dismantle his board!"
"Definitely the right call. Dorian now has no monsters on the field! But she clearly hasn't done her homework… he already has a Level 8 monster in hand, and next turn will be rough for her!"
"And now that there's a monster in her Graveyard, how will she stop [Fossil Fusion] next turn?"
The commentator's excitement was palpable, expertly balancing the energy of the moment with smooth transitions to his guest.
"Viviana, who do you favor in this match?"
Viviana smiled and leaned into the mic. "They're both strong, but I'm putting my money on the Witch."
The host chuckled. "Didn't expect that! Dorian might be down a monster, but his ace hasn't even hit the field yet. Got any reasoning?"
The camera zoomed in on the commentary booth. Viviana smiled sweetly.
"Just my Spirit Duelist intuition~"
The crowd exploded in cheers—Viviana's catchphrase always got them hyped.
Of course, most assumed she was just playing to the crowd. That said, a strange light flickered in Viviana's eyes.
She wasn't joking. Her instincts really did favor Morgan.
Back on the field, Dorian also smiled. That monster Morgan had sent to the Graveyard? A perfect Fusion material for his ace.
And if it got banished, it would cripple her strategy.
He glanced at the [Fossil Fusion] in his hand and grinned.
Yet, Morgan wasn't finished. She already anticipated Dorian's plan. From the beginning, she never intended to give him a chance to banish her Graveyard monster.
After all, her Deck only ran three monsters.
If her core piece—Eldlich—got banished, the match might as well be over.
"I set one card!"
A card appeared face-down on her field—
"Next, I activate [Eldlich the Golden Lord]'s second effect from the Graveyard!"
"If this card is in the Graveyard, I can send one Spell or Trap I control to the Graveyard to add this card to my hand, then Special Summon one Zombie monster from my hand."
"The monster Special Summoned this way gains 1000 ATK and DEF and cannot be destroyed by card effects until the end of your opponent's turn."
Morgan's set card vanished, and Eldlich returned to her hand.
Dorian froze. He hadn't expected Eldlich to have a second effect.
"I Special Summon [Eldlich the Golden Lord] in Attack Position!"
With a burst of light, the mighty Eldlich appeared on her field, purple cloak billowing in a windless force.
And its ATK surged from 2500 to 3500!
