Chapter 56: TST [56]
"H-Hand Destruction..."
Hearing Morgan activate that card made Alban's brain buzz in alarm.
He knew the effect well—it was a common utility card. Both players discard 2 cards, then draw 2 cards. Usually used for cycling through your hand. In the past, Alban wouldn't have thought much of Morgan activating a card like this.
However, now, with every draw costing him Life Points, it was lethal.
'Damn it, another shock incoming!'
Gritting his teeth, Alban discarded two cards and drew two.
A fierce surge of electricity shot through him. He could barely register his LP continuing to drop.
'Just hang on until the Battle Phase—then she'll be sorry!'
Alban clenched his teeth, determined to endure the pain, but then he noticed something terrifying.
The shocks weren't stopping. They were intensifying.
"What the hell is happening?!"
"Unfortunately for you," Morgan said coldly, "you'll never make it to your Battle Phase."
"After [Hand Destruction], I activated another card."
"[Trickstar Reincarnation]!"
"This card banishes your entire hand, then you draw that same number of cards!"
As another set card flipped up, Alban's pale face turned even whiter.
He still had three cards in hand. His LP was down to just 1400.
His face twisted in agony as he banished his hand and drew three more—the moment he drew, Trickstars and [Dark Room of Nightmare] effects triggered.
The shock device hit maximum power.
Alban couldn't speak. His whole body convulsed.
When the current finally stopped, he was unconscious—a lump of charred meat, blackened and smoking.
The alley stank of scorched flesh.
With one duelist down, the Shadow Game was over.
Before the dark aura vanished, living shadows rose from the ground and swallowed Alban's body. They gradually receded, leaving only the shock device behind.
Seeing this, Morgan removed her own device and tossed it aside.
'So this is the strength of a Shadow Duelist? Feels about equal to a Platinum-ranked duelist. Maybe a little stronger. Still, this kind of stuff is outdated. True Shadow Games don't punish the flesh—they demand your soul.'
With the duel over, Morgan packed up her Duel Disk and was about to leave—when a familiar mechanical voice rang in her mind, making her eyes widen.
[Congratulations, Host, on winning a duel (Shadow Game).]
[You have received 3000 Duel EXP.]
[You have received 3000 Duel Points.]
[Talent upgraded: Calm Mind LV5.]
A whole 3000 Duel Points for a Shadow Game?
She didn't even get that much from ranking up in Platinum! Plus, Platinum duelists were rare. Matching took forever. And 3000 EXP too… her Calm Mind talent even leveled up!
Shadow Duelists were worth that much?
If she kept doing this, she could afford a full meta Deck in no time.
Can't keep playing with underworld builds forever!
Morgan was, at heart, a sunshine-filled, optimistic duelist. Playing these dark decks was a necessity, not her style.
'Damn, where did that curvy lady disappear to?'
She looked way tougher than Alban.
And probably worth even more!
Still, Shadow Duelists were elusive. There was no way to hunt them down. Regardless, Morgan quickly calmed herself.
If she was their target, they'd come back. They'd know Alban was defeated. Her Platinum rank wasn't just for show.
Yet, suddenly, her expression darkened.
It was because of Alban's auction that she saw the true face of those clubs. To raise their rankings, they treated duelists like property!
And it wasn't an isolated case.
According to Hannah, nearly every major club had taken part… the bids went as high as 100 million!
Sure, Morgan was short on money, but she had no intention of selling herself… especially without consent.
It wasn't like she was hiding her identity on purpose. She just wanted to avoid trouble. That said, she hadn't realized what a stir her undefeated Platinum climb had caused in this world.
She had no idea about the massive hunt for the mysterious duelist.
If possible, she preferred to keep her identity hidden. Despite that, to prevent another auction incident, going public might be safer now.
And tomorrow… the Junior Division of the Duelist League would begin.
Morgan tucked her Deck away, a smile playing on her lips.
'If you all want to know who I am so badly….
'Then get ready to watch closely!'
