Chapter 264: The "Great Cause" of the Fusion Army
Rumble Rumble
The massive Sacred Beast that had flashed by earlier slowly reappeared, its towering form like a mountain, appearing even more immense within the confines of this narrow dimension.
Dark energy engulfed its body, heralding its overwhelming might. Its earth-shattering roar proclaimed its endless fury.
[Raviel, Lord of Phantasms] Level 10│DARK│Fiend│4000 ATK
"Hahahaha!"
The arrival of such a powerful monster clearly put the instructor in high spirits. Hikaru also noticed that, unlike other Sacred Beast users, Instructor Borg wasn't suffering any backlash from the summon. His life energy wasn't being drained at all.
"The Sacred Beast is the strongest among all Sacred Beasts! Summoning Raviel requires an enormous energy cost—but that problem was already solved by the Professor!" Noticing Hikaru's confusion, Borg explained with great enthusiasm. "At headquarters, dedicated spirits and researchers are supplying it with life energy. Right now, it's at full power!"
"Battle! Raviel, attack that damned Alchemist of yours!
"The era of alchemy... is over!
"Celestial Roaring Fist!"
Raviel raised its right hand high and slammed it down towards the Fullmetalfoes Alkahest. Despite its best defensive stance, the Sacred Beast shattered it with a single punch.
Hikaru shielded himself against the ensuing storm. The violent wind pushed him back, and even Tierra couldn't hold her footing.
Though unharmed, Hikaru felt a stinging pain. When he touched his cheek, he found faint traces of blood.
"This Sacred Beast's been thoroughly overfed..." Tierra grumbled irritably nearby.
She wasn't in her prime, while the opponent, though not the main body, had been nurtured to full power. In this kind of duel, its combat potential far exceeded hers.
"The grand enterprise?" Hikaru wasn't concerned with that. He casually flicked his hand. "If I'm not mistaken, you guys plan to transport this machine to other dimensions and bombard their homes with physicalized projections, right?
And that counts as a 'grand enterprise'?"
"Ha! Kids will be kids." Borg shook his head vigorously. "You're an excellent Duelist, Hikaru, but in the end, still just a child."
Hikaru raised an eyebrow. "Then please enlighten me, sensei."
"Ha." Yoshikawa Borg, as a Duel Academy teacher, felt the educator's instinct stir at Hikaru's question.
And this was precisely the information Hikaru wanted to draw out.
"Listen well, Hikaru-kun." Borg raised a hand, gently waving it. "Men have desires."
"From ancient times to now, from the past to the future! Men have never changed—the desire to dominate others and to become the superior class!"
"Indulging in food, drink, play, chasing after attractive women, crushing those they dislike—that's the true desire in a man's heart!"
"In ancient times, kingdoms waged war; during the Industrial Revolution, whites enslaved blacks; all the colonial conquests of modern times overflowed with this desire!"
He grinned widely. "We missed out on the previous good times, but now we have a chance to participate in this 'Unification of the Multiverse'—how could we possibly let it slip by?!"
"And you're not afraid of KaibaCorp?"
"Did the Queen of England punish the pirates who robbed Spain's slave ships?"
"What a brilliant piece of sophistry. Excellent concept swapping. Wanting a good life is universal, but building it on others' corpses is nothing but a crime!
"Unbelievable... hearing this from a black teacher."
"Ha! Race means nothing. In the future, there'll be only two kinds of people—us noble Fusion Dimension citizens, and the lowly Xyz Dimension scum!" Borg laughed heartily, utterly unfazed by Hikaru's words.
"Ridiculous!" Hikaru scoffed.
"What do you think this is, you gorilla? Think the other side are primitive hunters wearing animal skins?!" Hikaru waved an arm with a sneer. "They also have interdimensional travel technology and developments that differ from our world!"
"So what? As long as we launch a surprise attack, everything will work out—ha, from the way you're talking, you don't object to attacking, you're just worried their tech might rival ours."
"Hmph—" Hikaru shook his head helplessly. "Forget it. Talking to you is pointless. Hurry up and end your turn."
"Before that, I'll set a card."
Borg set a card and chuckled.
"Hikaru, with your outstanding Duelist talent, if you join us, you'll surely rise above the rank-and-file soldiers, perhaps even become a general or a marshal—a hero of our dimension! Why care about the lives of commoners?"
"Disgusting," Hikaru muttered.
Crossing dimensions or not,
Human nature and its 'origin' will never change.
This kind of invasive ideology was something he'd never accept!
Too lazy to respond, Hikaru drew his card and immediately declared: "Normal Summon! Skelesaurus."
Clatter clatter.
With crisp assembly sounds, a pile of bones pieced itself together into a skeletal dinosaur on the field.
[Skelesaurus] Level 4│DARK│Dinosaur│1700 ATK
A Gemini Monster.
"Next, I activate the Spell Card, Ghost Fusion."
"This card lets me Fusion Summon an Undead monster from my Extra Deck using monsters from my field and Deck as materials."
"Now, open the gates of the underworld!"
Hikaru thrust his hand upward as if grabbing something intangible. "I fuse Vampire Fraulein from my Deck with the Skelesaurus on my field!"
"Ghost Fusion Summon!
"Level 8—Dragonecro Nethersoul Dragon!"
"Roooar!!"
Dragonecro let out a fierce roar.
It whipped its tail, staring down the towering demon before it, growling deeply without yielding an inch.
"You're a Sacred Beast? Big deal—my Duel Dragon won't fear you!"
"Ha, Dragonecro Nethersoul Dragon, a card you got from the S-Dimension, right?" Borg smirked knowingly. "Fighting this monster, it can't be destroyed by battle, but its Attack becomes 0, correct?
And since that effect activates during the Battle Phase, even if Raviel destroys it, you can reduce my Raviel's Attack to 0 and extract a Phantasm Token—but you won't get that chance, Hikaru!"
"Let's find out—Battle!"
"Dragonecro Nethersoul Dragon, attack Raviel, Lord of Phantasms!"
"I already told you, no such luck, Hikaru!"
"Activate the set card! Trap Card, Negate Attack!"
"You should recognize this card, right?"
Still putting on his teacher act.
Negate Attack—it nullified the attack and forcibly ended the Battle Phase.
"Then I'll end my turn." Hikaru wasn't surprised by the counter-trap.
"Then it's my turn—draw!" Borg grinned as he drew. "Hahahaha, this is the overwhelming power of the Sacred Beasts! With this draw, I can dismantle any of your strategies, Hikaru!"
"No matter how strong your monsters are or how tricky their effects, they're still just monsters."
"And what I drew is the simplest and most efficient card."
"Spell Card, Lightning Vortex! I discard one card from my hand to activate! This card destroys all your face-up monsters! I discard Steelswarm Moth."
Simple and efficient indeed.
Though most of the time, Raigeki would be preferable.
Black clouds condensed above, unleashing countless lightning bolts that struck Dragonecro, leaving it numb, howling in pain, before it reluctantly returned to the underworld.
"Sorry, I'll avenge your suffering later," Hikaru whispered to his departed dragon.
"Avenge?" Borg spread his hands. "At this point, what's left to avenge?"
"Do you see now, Hikaru? This is the power of the Sacred Beasts! Not only are they powerful 4000 Attack monsters that can drain life energy and control spirits, they even bend card draws to my will, making your usual Fusion plays barely last two turns.
Meanwhile, I can draw whatever I need to solve anything, even a troublesome monster like Dragonecro.
Now, let this teacher show you how a man should oppress others!
"Raviel, Lord of Phantasms—Direct Attack!"
He shouted at the top of his lungs: "Celestial Roaring Fist!"
"Tch, can't stand this..."
"Activate set card! Trap Card—Necro Fusion!"
A Trap that allows a Fusion Summon by banishing materials from the Graveyard facedown?
But—he shouldn't have any usable Fusion materials left in the Graveyard, right?
"I banish Ancient Gear Knight and Skelesaurus from the Graveyard."
"Fusion requirement: Two Gemini Monsters."
"Come forth! Fusion Summon! Level 8!"
"Superalloy Beast Raptinus!"
Skeleton and machine parts rose from the Graveyard, fusing piece by piece into a grotesque chimera, each part mismatched with the others.
[Superalloy Beast Raptinus] Level 8│LIGHT│Dragon│2200 DEF
"Tch..." Borg recognized the monster. "That worthless thing?"
"Worthless?"
"Dueling is about strong cards!" Borg waved dismissively. "You have way stronger Fusion Monsters than this—didn't you just use Dragonecro, a Level 8 Dragon Fusion Monster?
Why keep such a weak Fusion in your Extra Deck? Looks like you really do need some education."
"Now you've really pissed me off," Hikaru said coldly.
"Ha! No matter! Battle continues! Raviel, crush that ugly beast!
"Celestial Roaring Fist!"
Raviel raised its fist and smashed it into the smaller chimera, pulverizing it.
The shattered fragments were scattered in the violent storm, with many shards even shooting toward Hikaru.
"Hikaru?" Tierra reached out, using countless puppet strings to shield him from the debris, quietly asking if he was okay.
This situation was dire.
"End turn."
"You should make the most of your final turn, y'know?"
"Ha? With nothing on your field and no playable cards in hand, you dare talk big?" Borg laughed.
"Hahaha—" The Fusion soldiers burst out laughing as well.
"Looks like today is your end, Amaki Hikaru!"
"Capture Hikaru! Promotion awaits!"
Hikaru shot them a glare.
"Then watch carefully... what kind of turn my Superalloy Beast bought me—
"My final turn!"
