Chapter 27:

Chapter 27:

Jiang Feng’s blunt words left the host speechless.

Did Jiang Feng really understand the weight of what he just said, or was he simply unaware of the backlash he was inviting?

“Xiao Feng, don’t you realize that what your father is doing is charity? It’s a good thing,” the host asked, now more serious. “Why would you encourage your mother to divorce your father because of that? Don’t you care about your father’s feelings at all?”

The host frowned, her tone becoming sharper. “You’re just a child. A child shouldn’t make such big decisions. Your parents have been together for so many years. Are you really disowning your father because he’s not wealthy? Your father may not earn much, but he’s clearly a kind-hearted man. Even the orphanage children feel his warmth. And He Minglang said he plans to repay the money one day. Do you dislike Minglang because you think he took your father away from you?”

The host’s words were pointed, trying to steer the audience toward judgment. However, Jiang Feng didn’t flinch.

He smirked slightly, his tone calm. “Yes, I dislike He Minglang. I don’t think any child would like someone their father sponsored from an orphanage.”

The host quickly seized on this statement, her eyebrows knitting together. “So you dislike him just because your father supported him? Don’t you think he’s pitiful?”

“Pitiful?” Jiang Feng echoed, shaking his head. “No, I don’t think so.”

Wow—

The room erupted in shock. How could he say that?

Not pitiful?

He was an orphan who was abandoned at a young age and now suffers from leukemia. How could that not be pitiful?

At this moment, the audience turned against Jiang Feng, seeing him as cold and unsympathetic.

“You don’t think he’s pitiful?” the host pressed, her voice rising in disbelief. “He’s had no parents since childhood, and if it weren’t for your father’s help, he wouldn’t have survived this long. And now, on top of that, he has leukemia. How can you not sympathize with him? Why are you targeting him?”

“Targeting?” Jiang Feng repeated.

“Yes, Xiao Feng,” the host said, her voice softening. “You and Minglang are classmates, aren’t you? Shouldn’t you help your classmates? You could go with your father to visit him. I’m sure your father would be so happy if you did.”

At this, Jiang Jiandang jumped in with a sorrowful sigh. “I’ve tried to take Xiao Feng to see Minglang. I thought it might help Xiao Feng let go of his resentment toward Minglang and his sister, but… my son refuses. It’s my fault for not raising him better as a father.”

Jiang Jiandang’s defeated, worn-out expression drew even more sympathy from the audience and the host alike.

The host turned back to comfort him. “Don’t blame yourself. Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, a child grows up crooked. It’s not always the fault of the parent who planted the tree.”

“But he’s still my son.” Jiang Jiandang said with a deep sigh.

“Yes, but when a child turns out this way, it’s because he lacks kindness deep down. That’s not something you can teach.”

The host’s words were harsh, almost cutting. She turned back to Jiang Feng. “At your age, how can you have so little tolerance? Don’t you see that you’re in the wrong?”

Li Xin, sitting beside Song Lin, chimed in with a mocking smile. “Ms. Song, don’t you think you’ve spoiled Jiang Feng too much? A mother who spoils her child can’t raise a decent son. Your son has turned out selfish because of you. Don’t you think it’s time to reflect on that?”

“Reflect?” Song Lin’s voice trembled with fury. “You… you’re talking nonsense! My son is the best son in the world!”

Her lips quivered, but no words came. In all her life, she had never been in a shouting match with anyone. Now, in the face of such accusations, she found herself tongue-tied, unable to defend herself or her son.

“You don’t even realize how selfish your son has become,” Li Xin scoffed, shaking her head. “A mother’s values always shape the child. If you can’t see that, there’s no point in discussing this with you.”

Jiang Feng, who had been standing silently, suddenly spoke up, his voice cold. “I agree—there’s no point in talking to you either, host.”

His words stunned the room.

“Is this how you run your show? By deliberately manipulating the situation to make victims out of people? You steer the conversation so that I’ll say something controversial, and maybe you hope my mother will break down on stage, all so you can get higher ratings for your show?”

Jiang Feng’s demeanor changed. The once quiet boy now radiated a powerful presence. His voice, firm and unwavering, silenced the room. Though standing in the spotlight, his dark, intense eyes seemed bottomless, drawing in anyone who looked at him.

“Jiang Jiandang is a selfish man who only cares about his reputation and uses others to feel superior. For all these years, he hasn’t given my mother a single cent. Even on my birthday, he didn’t give me a gift—not once in over a decade.”

Jiang Feng locked eyes with the camera, his voice unwavering. “This man has never fulfilled his duties as a father. He is unworthy of the title.”
