You Choose an Adopted Son, I Choose Madness

Chapter 4

Chapter 4: Su Qiqi Is the Real Thief

Su Qiqi stepped out, her eyes red and filled with tears, looking utterly humiliated.

Her gaze swept over her parents, who were staring at her with disappointment, and her older sister and younger brother, who wore apologetic expressions.

She had never been so ashamed.

At the same time, she hated Su Chen with every fiber of her being.

Glaring at him with pure resentment, she vowed in her heart: Su Chen, I will repay this humiliation a hundred—no, a thousand times over!

But Su Chen didn’t care about her furious glare. So what if she hated him? She was still being forced to apologize to him!

Not that he actually wanted her apology.

What he truly wanted was to make sure Su Qiqi was the one labeled as a thief.

His eyes lingered on the two pockets of her dress.

Which one was it?

The right pocket bulged slightly more than the left. Suspicious.

Su Qiqi, who prided herself on being a refined lady from a prestigious family, always looked down on people who actually used their pockets for storage. To her, pockets were meant for fashion, not function.

She had even mocked Su Chen for using them before.

That confirmed it. The stolen watch was in her right pocket.

Before he could make his move, Su Zhenxing, fearing that Su Chen would go berserk again, barked impatiently,

“Su Qiqi! What are you standing there for?!”

“Hurry up and apologize to Su Chen!”

Su Qiqi had never seen her father scold her so harshly before. The injustice of it all overwhelmed her.

Dad was scolding her because of Su Chen?!

Her father had changed. He was no longer the man who always doted on her.

Before today, no matter how much she mocked or insulted Su Chen, their father had never interfered, let alone scolded her.

A wave of rebellion surged in her heart.

She clenched her fists and stood her ground. She wouldn’t apologize.

She stared at Su Chen with defiance, her eyes filled with hatred as if to say: Just you wait, Su Chen. I will never forgive you!

Su Chen, however, was overjoyed.

If she had obediently apologized, he would’ve had to create a scene to snatch the watch from her pocket.

Now, he didn’t even need to make an excuse.

Perfect.

Time to act!

With a sudden leap, Su Chen lunged at Su Qiqi, his face twisted in rage.

“Su Qiqi! You framed me on purpose!”

“And now you’re glaring at me?!”

“You still refuse to apologize?! You’re still glaring at me?!”

“Ahhhhhhh!”

The setup was perfect.

Su Chen had been standing in front of the Su family, waiting for her apology.

Su Qiqi was positioned at the bathroom door, which was now shut.

With no one blocking him, Su Chen reached her in an instant.

He seized her shoulders again, gripping her tightly.

The moment Su Qiqi saw him charging at her, her face turned pale with terror.

She tried to retreat, desperate to escape back into the bathroom.

But it was too late.

The door was closed. She had no time to open it.

Before the Su family could react, Su Chen had already grabbed her.

They could only watch in horror as he shook her violently, shouting straight into her ear.

By the time they finally moved to pull him away, it was too late.

Su Chen suddenly stopped.

His eyes widened in exaggerated shock as he exclaimed,

“Su Qiqi! What’s in your pocket?!”

“A watch?! A watch?!”

“Isn’t this the same watch that was supposedly stolen?!”

The entire Su family froze.

Su Chen let go of Su Qiqi and lifted his hand.

In it, he held a gleaming gold Patek Philippe watch.

Everyone’s eyes widened.

It was the stolen watch.

Su Zhenxing’s face darkened instantly.

It took him only a second to realize what had happened.

His watch had never been stolen at all.

It had been in Su Qiqi’s pocket the whole time.

She had taken it on purpose—to frame Su Chen!

What the hell was she thinking?!

Did she think it was some kind of achievement to create a scandal in the family?!

This foolish girl!

Meanwhile, Su Qiqi was frozen in fear.

She had never expected Su Chen to find the watch.

This couldn’t be happening.

Why hadn’t she hidden it earlier? Why had she been so careless?!

What should she do now?!

Panic filled her as she saw her father’s dark expression, her mother’s disapproving frown, and the shocked faces of her older sister and younger brother.

Did they…

Did they actually think she stole it?!

But she hadn’t!

She just wanted to frame Su Chen!

Su Chen coldly watched their reactions, a sneer forming in his heart.

Funny.

Just a moment ago, when he was the accused, they had all jumped to conclusions immediately.

The watch went missing. Su Qiqi started pointing fingers.

And they all followed suit, instantly condemning him.

But now?

Now that the watch had been found on Su Qiqi…

They were suddenly silent.

Hah.

Su Chen had no time to deal with their hypocrisy right now.

This was his moment to strike.

He widened his eyes dramatically, holding up the watch as he screamed at the top of his lungs.

“This is the stolen watch, isn’t it?!”

“So Su Qiqi is the real thief!”

“Su Qiqi stole the watch!”

“And not only is she a thief—she tried to blame it on me!”

“She’s a liar! A scheming, evil liar!”

“Call the police! Call the police! I’m reporting this!”

“There’s a thief in the Su family!”

“And she tried to frame me!”

“Call the police! Have her arrested!”

Su Zhenxing’s face turned pitch-black.

“Call the police?!” he roared.

“Absolutely not!”

“No one is calling the police!”

“Do you think it’s something to be proud of to have a thief in the family?!”

“There will be no police!”

He turned to Su Chen, his gaze sharp as a knife.

“Especially you, Su Chen.”

“You will not report this. Understood?”
