Chapter 365: Chapter 365: Battle with Yuan Cang

Chapter 365: Battle with Yuan Cang

With Lin Langtian's decisive victory over Xia Yan, thunderous cheers echoed across the mountaintop. Even spectators from nearby peaks turned their gaze to watch, captivated by his performance.

"Senior Brother truly deserves his title—defeating Gold Division's Commander so easily! Xia Yan's strength is among the top eight Commanders!" Song Yun remarked in awe, laughing as he watched Lin Langtian's tall, commanding figure on the platform.

"Ha ha, he's rightfully called the Little Flame Prince. His strength has far surpassed the Commander level," said Pang Lie, full of admiration.

"I've seen Senior Brother use this body-strengthening technique before, but never with such power. It seems his mastery over it has deepened," Su Qi added with a smile.

"Still, I wonder if Senior Brother can truly defeat the Little Prince," Song Yun said in a lower tone. "Given his talent, if he could train at Yuan Sect for two more years, he'd undoubtedly be the best among the younger generation, even outshining the Three Princes. But he's only been here a year, and his foundation might not be strong enough…"

Hearing this, Pang Lie and the others grew solemn. All of them had tied their fates to Lin Langtian's. If Yuan Cang won the command rights to the Sect Competition, Lin Langtian's faction would surely be used as mere pawns, thrown into the line of fire.

"Don't worry; Senior Brother will win," Mo Tie said, grinning as he looked at Lin Langtian. Those who had followed him since the Ancient Battlefield had witnessed countless miracles and believed he would deliver one again.

On the other side, Yuan Cang, dressed in blue robes, watched from afar, his usually calm gaze now sharp and intense. There was something about Lin Langtian that gave him an uneasy feeling, a sense of danger.

"This guy… he's quite the enigma. But no matter what he's capable of, the top spot in the trials is reserved for the Three Princes," Yuan Cang murmured, a cold smirk on his face. He closed his eyes again, confident that he could not allow an outsider to claim a position traditionally reserved for the sect master's personal disciples.

As the cheers finally began to settle, an elder official approached the platform and looked over Lin Langtian with a mix of admiration and curiosity. After confirming Xia Yan's defeat, he announced loudly, "The winner of this match is Lin Langtian!"

The cheering erupted anew, especially among the disciples of Flame Division, whose faces flushed with excitement. In contrast, the Gold Division disciples looked downcast. They had no choice but to accept the outcome, acknowledging the prowess of the Little Flame Prince.

Meanwhile, Xia Yan, now pale and defeated, looked up at Lin Langtian with a fearful expression, before lowering his head and allowing two Gold Division disciples to help him off the platform. After the battle, he realized that an unshakable sense of fear toward Lin Langtian had taken root in his heart—a fear that might follow him for the rest of his life.

The excitement from Lin Langtian's victory lingered for a while but gradually faded as the next matches began. Though these were also high-level fights among the top disciples and Commanders, none could compare to the intensity of Lin Langtian and Xia Yan's match. Even as the contests continued, people couldn't help but cast glances at Lin Langtian and Yuan Cang, sensing an unspoken tension building up.

Eventually, as the matches concluded, even some competitors, aware of the crowd's anticipation, simply stepped down to let the main event unfold. Word of the upcoming showdown spread, drawing in disciples from nearby peaks, until the mountain was completely packed with spectators.

Yuan Cang remained seated, eyes closed in meditation, while Lin Langtian stood calmly by, unperturbed. Curiosity filled the crowd, eager to see who would prevail in this ultimate duel.

At last, an elder stepped forward onto the platform. His gaze shifted between Lin Langtian and Yuan Cang, and he declared loudly, "For the next match: Lin Langtian of Flame Division against Little Prince Yuan Cang!"

The announcement fell over the crowd like a hush; no one cheered. Every spectator held their breath, their eyes locked onto the two figures, knowing this would be a battle between the absolute top talents in Yuan Sect.

Finally, Yuan Cang opened his eyes, a slight, confident smile on his face as he rose and stepped onto the platform. His presence alone drew all attention, his every move followed by countless gazes. Even Ren Yuanzi, the sect master, opened his eyes, a hint of interest in his expression.

With Yuan Cang on the platform, the crowd's focus shifted to Lin Langtian, who, feeling the collective gaze, simply smiled and stepped forward with calm assurance. On the platform, the two stared each other down, a spark of fire in their gazes, and the energy between them began to stir, causing the surrounding spiritual energy to tremble with anticipation.

"Hard to believe a mere newcomer has made it this far," murmured Ling Zhen, one of the Little Spirit Princes, his expression darkening as he looked on. The Three Princes had always been Yuan Sect's highest-ranking disciples, yet now an Eight Division disciple dared to challenge that status.

"I've got a bad feeling about him," said Lei Qian with a sneer. "If he's allowed to grow unchecked, he could end up being a threat to Yuan Sect."

"No need to worry," Ling Zhen replied, his gaze cold. "He may be talented, but he's far from invincible. Yuan Cang has spirit marks within him; today, this brat will taste defeat."

"Indeed. Once Yuan Cang takes command, he can make Lin Langtian the vanguard in the Sect Competition, sending him headfirst into danger. If he dares disobey, we'll have grounds to cut him down," Lei Qian added, a flash of murderous intent in his eyes. He could already tell that Lin Langtian's potential was terrifying. If left unchecked, Lin Langtian might eventually surpass even Yuan Cang. At that point, who would hold sway over their generation?

"Yes, we can't let him survive…" Ling Zhen muttered, his eyes narrowing with malice.

"So, our match is finally here," Yuan Cang said coolly, his gaze fixed on Lin Langtian.

Lin Langtian shrugged. "I wouldn't say I was looking forward to it. After all, the outcome is already clear: I'll win."

"Ha ha, I wouldn't be so sure about that." Yuan Cang's eyes gleamed sharply, and as he stepped forward, an immense aura surged from him, far greater than Lei Qian's. The power that flooded from him had already surpassed the Nirvana Realm, reaching the Profound Realm.

"Profound Realm…"

The sheer intensity of Yuan Cang's aura sent a shockwave through the crowd, even causing some high-ranking division heads to look on with gravity. Yuan Cang's power was close to their own level, an immense talent worthy of the Eastern Xuan Region's best.

"Junior Brother Lin," Yuan Cang said, his confidence unshaken, "if you lose, why not join me? I admire your potential, and if I were to take control of the sect one day, I'd be glad to have you at my side."

The oppressive aura pressed down on Lin Langtian, but Yuan Cang's words were filled with calm assurance. Though Lin Langtian had constantly challenged the authority of the Three Princes, Yuan Cang recognized his talent and was open to recruiting him.

Even Ren Yuanzi, watching from the high seats, nodded approvingly. As the sect's future leaders, the Three Princes were expected to possess not only strength but also the discernment to foster talent. Destroying such a capable disciple would be a waste, while recruiting him would strengthen the sect.

Hearing this, Lin Langtian's eyes narrowed with disdain. Did Yuan Cang truly think he was qualified to be his superior?

"Well, if Senior Brother Yuan loses, why not join me? I won't treat you badly either," Lin Langtian replied evenly.

The crowd went silent, every jaw dropping in shock. What an audacious response!

"You're more arrogant than I expected," Yuan Cang said, a grim look crossing his face as he clenched his fists, his voice cold. If Lin Langtian wanted to throw away any pretense of respect, then Yuan Cang would oblige.

Hearing Yuan Cang's mocking laughter, Lin Langtian tilted his head, a sly smirk on his face. "We'll see who's got the last word…"

Lin Langtian's laughter was soft, but his hands suddenly moved into a complex set of hand seals. With a faint smile, he activated the blazing energy in his core. Though his physique was toned rather than muscular, as his energy surged, it seemed as though an incredible strength rippled through his form.

With a roaring burst of fire, flames ignited across his skin, turning into a black-and-red suit of flame armor that wrapped around him like a second skin, turning him into a formidable warrior.

Stepping forward, Lin Langtian's foot hit the ground. Though his step was not loud, the earth beneath him trembled slightly, hinting at the immense power contained in his frame.

Feeling the charged energy radiating from the two fighters, the entire mountaintop seemed to hold its breath, every heartbeat quickening. They all knew—the ultimate showdown was about to begin.
