World's End Harem: The Lustful Messiah

Chapter 45: The Unity Conference Begins (Chapter 43)

The next morning, the atmosphere at Hano Medical University was tense, but focused.

The once-quiet campus had transformed overnight into a diplomatic hub. Banners were hung at the entrance reading "Unity for the Future", and tight security surrounded every corner. Delegates from various Japanese provinces and independent UW regions arrived in sleek black cars, escorted by guards.

Shin stood near the main entrance alongside Riku, Reito, Akane, and Director Sayuri. All wore calm expressions, but inside, everyone understood how fragile the situation was.

"This is it," Akane murmured, adjusting her earpiece. "One mistake, and World Headquarters will have everything they need to turn this against us."

Director Sayuri nodded. "Stay composed, follow the agenda. The cure demonstration is our strongest weapon."

Shin glanced at Riku. "You ready?"

Riku gave a firm nod. "We have to be."

The delegates filed into the grand hall, once a lecture theater, now converted for the event. Cameras were stationed at the back to broadcast the proceedings to approved networks. Journalists murmured quietly, eager to report every detail.

President Momo opened the session with a brief, formal speech.

"Today, we come together not for politics, but for survival. The MK Virus cure is within our grasp, and Japan must lead the way. Our Code Numbers have put their lives at risk for this moment. Let us work together, not against each other."

Polite applause filled the room.

Next, Doctor Yuna and Maria Kuroda stepped forward to explain the science behind the cure. A large holographic screen displayed the stabilization rate, genetic adaptability statistics, and the prototype's projected effectiveness.

"This is real," Yuna said firmly. "It's not propaganda, and it's not theory anymore. We can save millions, if we are allowed to finish."

Delegates exchanged uneasy looks but nodded, impressed by the data.

Shin, Riku, and Reito stood at the front as several healthcare workers volunteered to receive the first doses. Cameras zoomed in as the syringes were administered.

"The cure has shown no significant side effects," Maria explained. "Within forty-eight hours, viral suppression will be measurable. We'll provide you live updates over the coming days."

The applause this time was louder, mixed with hopeful murmurs.

Akane whispered to Shin, "This is working. The public's already responding positively online."

But before Shin could answer, a sharp beep from Sayuri's earpiece broke the brief peace.

Director Sayuri stiffened, her expression darkening. "We have a problem. Izanami just released a new broadcast, right now."

A large screen at the back of the room flickered as an emergency news feed appeared.

The image of Code Number 8 filled the screen. He stood, now fully awake and unmasked, flanked by Izanami soldiers. His face was calm, almost too calm. His fearful eyes betrayed his mask of peace.

A deep voice from the broadcast spoke:"Code Number 8 stands with us. The cure you speak of is a lie controlled by corrupt leaders. The real freedom lies with us. Men must rise, not as experiments, but as rulers."

Gasps rippled through the room. Some delegates whispered nervously, unsure what to believe.

Shin's jaw clenched. "They're trying to turn this into a war of ideologies."

Reito spoke up, calm but firm. "Then we fight back with truth. Keep the demonstration going. Show them results."

Sayuri nodded quickly. "Agreed. We can't stop now. If we panic, they win."

Akane glared at the screen. "But this means Phase Two is escalating faster than we expected. Izanami's trying to split public opinion before the cure even goes public."

The rest of the conference continued, but the tension was thick. Shin and Riku stayed visible, answering questions from delegates directly, emphasizing unity and survival rather than politics.

By the time the session ended, most delegates seemed reassured. The promise of a cure outweighed Izanami's words, for now. As the group reconvened privately in the secure lounge later that evening, Director Sayuri's tone was grim.

"They'll strike again soon. This was only the first move. Izanami will not let us take control of the narrative for long."

Shin leaned back, his arms crossed. "Then we'll make sure the cure's success speaks louder than their propaganda. Results win, not speeches."

Riku agreed. "But we should prepare for something worse. If Phase Two is about to fully begin… they might not stick to just words next time."

Akane looked between them. "We need to be ready for anything—diplomatic or violent. Tonight, we rest. Tomorrow, we tighten security and prepare for the worst."

Shin gave a silent nod, but inside, his mind burned with one thought.

Code Number 8 wasn't just a hostage anymore.He was becoming a weapon.

And sooner or later, Shin would have to face him.
