{Chapter: 284 Hawkeye Attacks}

The violent blast erupted like a thunderclap, sending Director Fury and the others hurtling backward through the air. The explosion lit the corridor in a searing orange blaze, flames licking every corner of the room. Yet despite the chaos and fire, none of them perished. They were, after all, central figures—key players in the unfolding saga. Fate, or rather the universe itself, would not allow them to fall so easily.

Amid the wreckage and smoke, William stood unfazed. The heat didn't touch him, and the blast did little more than tousle his coat. He calmly stepped through the flickering flames and retrieved the scepter that had been thrown across the room. Holding it with a wicked glint in his eye, he gave a slow, mocking smile.

"Take your time," he said, his voice thick with disdain. "Be sure to protect this glorious aircraft carrier of yours. There's a rather high chance it's going to plunge from the sky."

"William! Stop! William, damn it, stop right now!" Fury roared, dragging himself to his feet, ignoring the burn on his arm and the ringing in his ears. He staggered forward, trying to pursue the enemy who had just put countless lives at risk.

Nearby, Steve Rogers gritted his teeth and pulled Tony Stark to his feet. "Tony, get your armor on—now."

Tony groaned but nodded. "On it."

Meanwhile, on the open deck of the airborne carrier, a small aircraft descended rapidly and touched down. The hatch opened with a mechanical hiss, and out stepped Hawkeye—Clint Barton—former agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., now standing with a cold, unfamiliar determination. Behind him, a team of hostile operatives followed, each carrying weapons and moving with grim precision.

"Move, move, move!" Hawkeye barked, striding purposefully forward.

It was clear now—the explosion that rocked the aircraft carrier had been their doing. The No. 3 engine was disabled, a critical hit. And if even one more engine was taken out, the entire carrier would fall from the sky in a fiery descent.

In the command room, pandemonium had taken hold. Commander Maria Hill was working furiously, issuing rapid-fire orders while the staff scrambled to maintain stability.

"Ma'am, we've suffered a direct hit!" one agent shouted.

Another officer looked up from a console, sweat on his brow. "Engine Three is completely offline!"

At that moment, William entered the command room from the corridor. But he no longer looked like himself. His appearance had shifted—now, he resembled Tom, one of the engineering crew members.

"Commander Hill, what's going on?" William asked, feigning confusion and urgency.

Hill, unaware of the deception, responded briskly. "The carrier was hit from the outside. Engine Three has gone dark—we've lost thrust on that side."

William shook his head, his expression calm and strangely composed. "That's terrible. Is there a way to fix it?"

Hill turned toward Alice and Ada, two staff members seated in front of the control systems. "Can it be repaired?" she asked, her voice tight with tension.

Alice looked up from her monitor and answered flatly, "The turbine structure seems intact, but it's impossible to repair mid-flight. We don't have access to the maintenance rig while airborne."

"If we lose another engine, we're done," Hill muttered. "This ship will fall."

"I'll go," William said suddenly, stepping forward. "Commander Hill, let me do it. I'll go out there and make the repairs. I've got experience."

"You?" Hill asked, arching a brow.

"Please, ma'am. Trust me," William said earnestly, placing a hand on his chest. "I won't fail you."

Hill hesitated for just a moment, then gave a sharp nod. "Fine. Take a maintenance team and get to Engine Three. Go now."

Just then, Fury burst into the command room, his face dark with fury and urgency. "Hill! That's him—it's William! Don't let him out of your sight!"

Maria froze. She turned slowly toward William, her eyes narrowing.

"William?" she whispered, her hand instinctively reaching for her weapon.

William gave a soft, amused chuckle. "Ma'am, why are you pointing your gun at me?" he asked, even as a faint green shimmer flickered across his face, revealing his true identity for a brief moment.

Gasps spread through the room as Hill's expression hardened. She raised her weapon. "You really are him. Everything you've told me—every word—was a lie."

The other agents responded instantly, drawing their sidearms and training them on William.

William's grin widened. "So dramatic."

Then, from behind Hill, came a sharp click—a gun being cocked.

"You still think he's the only one?" a woman's voice said coldly.

Hill's eyes widened. A pistol was now pressed against the back of her head.

The entire room tensed. Shock rippled across every face.

"You too?" Maria asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Of course," said Alice, her voice now devoid of emotion. A similar green shimmer rippled across her face, revealing the same eerie glow that marked William's disguise.

"Ada…" Maria murmured, turning her eyes toward the second woman.

Ada's expression was cold and composed. "Poor Maria Hill. You never stood a chance. You were always fated to meet someone like him."

The three infiltrators now stood revealed. Inside S.H.I.E.L.D.'s most secure facility—its airborne fortress—they had slipped through defenses, gained trust, and set their trap.

Fury narrowed his eyes, his voice low but filled with restrained fury. "You two…"

Alice stepped forward with a coy smile. "You should recognize us by now."

"Oh, I recognize you," Fury replied coldly. "You and William were involved in the Broadway incident. After that, you vanished like ghosts. I had no idea you'd infiltrated SHIELD. Hiding under our noses like this… I never saw it coming."

Ada tilted her head and gave a soft chuckle. "We weren't hiding, Director. We only arrived a few days ago. You make it sound like we were embedded for years."

Fury gave a bitter laugh. "Judging by how easily you two got in, breaking into SHIELD is apparently no more difficult than ordering takeout."

William interjected smoothly, "Alice, put the gun down. It's really not very polite to aim at the head of your future fellow sister wife."

Alice sighed dramatically and lowered her weapon from Hill's temple. "Fine, fine. But she seems like the type who needs a little extra encouragement."

Hill glared daggers at them. "William, do you know what I want to do to you right now?"

Before he could respond, Ada cut in with a sly grin, "She wants to kill you. Honestly, so many people have said that to him—men, women, even one particularly angry White Queen."

Hill shouted over them, voice trembling with betrayal and rage, "Open fire! Don't worry about me, just shoot!"

Bang!

Hill was the first to pull the trigger, her face hardening with every shot. "I trusted you," she growled. "I believed every word you said. And it was all lies from beginning to end."

"You seem very upset," William said, catching her bullet in the palm of his hand as though it were a falling leaf.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Without hesitation, Alice and Ada opened fire on the agents surrounding them. The crack of gunfire echoed through the command room, each shot precise and fatal. One by one, SHIELD personnel collapsed, screams cutting through the chaos.

"I'm far past anger," Maria hissed, still squeezing the trigger even though it was futile.

All bullets fired at William came to an abrupt halt mid-air, suspended half a meter away from him as if time itself had bent to his will.

William glanced around disapprovingly. "Maria shooting me, I understand. But the rest of you? What was the point of that?"

A moment later, the suspended bullets spun in midair before being violently repelled. They ricocheted through the room, finding new targets. More agents fell with cries of pain and terror.

Maria, out of ammunition and burning with fury, threw her gun aside and lunged at William with a punch. He caught her fist effortlessly.

"Let go of me!" she shouted, trying to wrench her hand free.

William looked at her calmly. "You really want to touch me that badly, Hill?"

"Do you honestly think I still believe a word that comes out of your mouth?" she spat and threw a kick at him.

William caught her mid-kick, chuckled, and pulled her into a tight embrace. "You don't have to believe me now. I'll make sure you do."

Maria struggled fiercely. "Let me go, damn it!"

William smiled at his companions. "Alice, Ada, she's yours for now. Take good care of our dear sister wife."

Alice grinned and wrapped an arm around Maria's waist, restraining her with ease. "Don't worry, darling. We'll treat you like family—whether you like it or not."

"Handle her gently," William said casually as he walked toward the exit. "I've got business to finish."

Before he could leave the command room, a sudden shout rang out.

"You're not going anywhere!"

Fury, blood dripping from his forehead, charged forward wielding a massive iron pillar like a makeshift weapon. With a roar, he swung it at William's head.

William didn't even look. He reached back, grabbed the iron pillar mid-swing, and crushed the metal with his bare hand. The pillar crumpled like paper.

"Fury…" William's voice lowered with menace. "I had no intention of hurting you. But since you insist…"

He lashed out with a lightning-fast kick to Fury's abdomen.

"Urgh!" Fury grunted as he flew backward, slamming into a bank of computer consoles with a deafening crash.

The room fell into momentary silence—until an enraged roar pierced the air. It wasn't human.

The deep, primal sound vibrated through the walls, shaking the ground.

It was the roar of the Hulk.

And he was not happy.
