Chapter 104: A Lullaby to Lua
Lumin shouts as the right side of his face dissolves into string. Ikati stumbles back as thousands of steel string spikes erupt from Lumin's chest. Ikati's eyes widened. Piercing almost every part of Ikati's upper body.
"Just as I expected from you, Lumin!" Ikati smirks and flexes his muscles, instantly evaporating all the string. Lumin coughs up blood. Half of his body dissolved into string, never to return. Memories of his daughter's favorite night time medley pop into his mind as he slowly falls backwards, slowly dissolving more and more.
"Close your eyes, my little star, Rest beneath the skies afar, Though winds may howl and clouds may rise, You'll soar above with open eyes." Lumin's eyes water up. Looking up at the fluffy clouds.
"The night is long, the storm will grow, But in the end, the light will show, A dawn of peace from darkest fight, Guided by your inner light." Lumin smiles.
"Though shadows fall upon the land, And tides will sweep away the sand, Hold fast, my star, when skies turn gray, For hope will come with the break of day." Lumin starts dissolving completely into string.
"But though I leave, don't shed a tear, In your heart, I'm always near, Through every storm, I'll light your way, And guide you to a brighter day." His pocket slips open as the replica straw doll hits the ground. Lumin hits the ground shortly after, blood seeping from his wounds, his strength nearly gone. Ikati looms over him, ready to strike the final blow. Lumin smiles, even as he faces death.
"I'm sorry… I won't be there when you grow up. But I'll always love you… I wish I could see you smile again" Ikati's sword comes down with brutal finality. Lumin looks up at the blade. His black eyes reflect a demon on ikati's shoulder. The blue sky and fluffy white clouds overhead. Yuma's eyes widen as the faint sound of thin strands snapping echoes through his ears
The courtyard is silent, save for the murmurs of the crowd. Ikati stands victorious, but there is no joy in his face—only cold indifference. Yuma watches from the shadows, unable to do anything as Lumin's lifeless body lies in the dirt.
Yuma's heart pounds in his chest as he stares at Lumin's motionless body. The threads of energy that once surrounded his friend have vanished, leaving nothing but cold silence. His body slowly dissolves into strings. Yuma could feel his blood begin to boil.
Rage surges through Yuma's veins, eclipsing his grief. His eyes lock onto Ikati, who stands tall, sword resting on his shoulder, a blank stare at Lumins dissolving body.
"You'll pay for this, Ikati," Yuma snarls, fists clenched tightly, his energy flaring around him in a fiery aura. A strong pink aura rising from Yumas shoulders.
"Oh will you?" Ikati mocks. Without warning, Yuma charges, his speed boosted by his adrenaline-fueled fury. He swings a powerful punch at Ikati, The air shatters like glass. Ikati blocks Yuma's strike, the ground beneath them cracking under the force. Shockwaves echo as the wind blows. The nearby stone walls are crumbling.
"Re-Pulse!" Yuma reels his fist back, delivering several consecutive punches to Ikati's chest. His movements aggressive, fueled by his emotions. For a brief moment, it seems like Yuma might overpower Ikati, pushing him back with every punch. Ikati quickly grabs Yuma's fist, delivering a strong uppercut to Yuma's stomach. Yuma coughs up blood as Ikati swings his blade, slicing Yuma across the chest.
"You think rage alone can defeat me?" Ikati taunts, his voice cold. Yuma stumbles back. Before he could recover, Ikati followed up with a roundhouse kick to Yuma's side, knocking the wind out of him and sending him crashing into the dirt.
"That hurt…!" Yuma groans as he pulls himself to his feet, his vision swimming. His body feels heavy
"I WON'T LOSE!" Yuma charges again, trying to land another blow on Ikati. Swinging his fist, but Ikati dodges. Yuma lands and spins to kick. Ikati jumps over the kick and the axe kicks Yuma from above. Yuma blocks with his forearm and pushes Ikati away. Jumping back and forward again.
"Your attack pattern is so predictable." Yuma dodges a stomp from Ikati that shatters the ground. Pausing as Ikati swings his blade horizontally. Releasing a wave of bright orange flames. Yuma jumps out of the way,but the fire grazes his arm, burning it. Yuma grits his teeth.
"I won't let you!" Ikati appears beside Yuma, his sword blazing in fire. Yuma punches the air to block the sword. Air shockwaves out, shattering the ground.
"Too easy" Ikati breaks through the barrier. Yuma blocks the sword with his left forearm, the blade cutting to the bone, sending Yuma into the nearby wall. Coughing up blood as fire covers the courtyard, Ikati walks through the flames with his sword.
"You're nothing without your rage," Ikati sneers, towering over Yuma.
"And even that is fading." Yuma's eyes go dark. His mind races as he pushes his hand into the dirt, rising slowly to his feet. His left forearm barely hanging on. Yuma breathes heavily.
"I won't lose!" Yuma cries out, his right fist glowing once more as he launches a desperate attack. Yuma punches, but Ikati dodges. Swinging his blade horizontally. Yuma ducks under the blade to dodge, uppercutting Ikati. Ikati turned the motion into a knee to Yuma's jaw, sending Yuma to the ground. His body skidded to a stop in a cloud of dust.
