Work Prophet

Chapter 159: Vile Plot

Miss Rabbit woke up early the next morning, first reheating the leftover roast duck from the night before on the fire. She ate it with the remaining flatbread, feeling satisfied, and then mounted the White Dragon again.

Li Yu followed, climbing onto the dragon's back. Unlike their arrival, since it was Ireya who first went to Ganlin Castle to deliver a letter, she took the lead this time, with Li Yu merely accompanying her.

Miss Rabbit tied her scarf, put on her motorcycle helmet, and patted the neck of the White Queen.

The latter spread its wings, took a few brisk steps, pushed off the ground, and flew into the sky.

It flew all the way towards Ganlin Castle.

From a distance, Miss Rabbit saw three figures on the agreed-upon small hill.

The Lady scanned the surroundings, seeing no one else, and only then ordered the giant dragon to descend in front of the three people.

After landing, the White Queen roared at the three, baring its fangs, which scared them into retreating a few steps.

Due to the arrival of the Wing Tribe, dragons on the Bratis Continent were no longer so unfamiliar. However, hearing about them was one thing; seeing them in person was another.

The imposing force of a top food chain predator is overwhelming, and any intelligent creature facing it would find it hard not to feel fear.

Badur's legs were trembling at this moment, but he still managed to stifle his fear and stepped forward to salute the young woman.

"I am the son of Sharp Finger Aulo, the Family Head of the Rodriguez family, and the lord of Ganlin Castle, Badur. On behalf of the people of this land, I welcome you, Sir Ireya."

"How do you know I am Ireya?" The Lady's voice came from under the motorcycle helmet, tinged with curiosity.

"Because of your sword, which is one of the Empire's Top Ten Imperial Swords."

"Oh, you recognized me from Beast Claw."

"But I didn't know you could also ride a dragon," Badur noted. "No wonder you could lead the nobles of the Western lands to defeat those detestable Wing Tribe people."

"Ha, but I heard you surrendered early to those Wing Tribe people."

Badur's face remained unchanged, "Their forces were too strong, and they had two giant dragons. I lack your prowess in battle, so I had to submit like most. However, fortunately, they were ultimately defeated by you."

The Lady did not believe a word of the man's nonsense, a trace of disdain flashing in her eyes, though no one could see it through her helmet.

Badur just heard the young woman continue, "And you kidnapped Pibo?"

"I didn't kidnap Lord Pibo. It was an emergency when Duke Theodore was captured, and I feared Lord Pibo would be taken too, so I risked hiding him away," Badur spun his lies smoothly, "and on top of that, my ancestors and Lord Pibo's ancestors have some familial ties; we are actually relatives."

Miss Rabbit was amused by him but was too lazy to continue arguing with Badur. She cast a glance at the two people beside him, recognizing one as the Noble Knight she had thrown the letter to yesterday.

The other man had a pair of small, hairless ears atop his head. He looked quite weary, with vacant eyes, most likely being Pibo.

She said to the man, "Lord Pibo, your wife Lilania asked me to bring you home. You should get on the dragon's back."

However, the man showed no signs of movement at her words and instead glanced once more at Badur not far away, his gaze revealing deep fear.

Badur smiled, "You flew all the way from the Western lands to Ganlin Castle on a dragon. It must have been exhausting. I've prepared a feast for you in the castle; you can eat something and rest before leaving."

The Lady gave a cold snort, "Do you think I'm a fool? You want me to go back to the castle with you and get kidnapped too?"

"No, no, you misunderstood me," Badur protested, "With Saturday's current renown, I wouldn't dare to harm you, especially when the person beside you is likely the famed Prophet Merlin."

Badur was indeed surprised by Li Yu's presence.

Upon seeing two people on the dragon's back, Badur exchanged a quick glance with Voban.

But by this point, they had no retreat, and capturing one was capturing, but if they could also seize the Prophet of the Double Rest Sect, it would be a tremendous success.

Voban also said, "Lord Badur greatly admires Saturday. Ever since he heard that a Divine Punishment was cast on that large Wing Tribe army, almost wiping it out, he's been wishing to join the Double Rest Sect."

"However, we couldn't find any Sabbaths from the Double Rest Sect in the Golden Valley region, so now that you're here, could you conduct an initiation ceremony for Lord Badur?"

Unlike Badur, Voban looked quite upright, so Ireya found his words plausible, but it was obvious that Badur's desire to join the Double Rest Sect wasn't due to piety towards Saturday but likely a craving for power.

Yet, this wasn't Ireya's concern, especially since Li Yu was present today, so spreading the faith certainly fell to Li Yu.

Li Yu's response was simple, "No."

Badur's smile froze, suspecting his hearing, "What did you say just now?"

"I said no."

"Why? I am the Family Head of the Rodriguez family. I can make the rest of my family and my liege men become followers of Saturday too."

"Because your actions do not align with the teachings of the Double Rest Sect," Li Yu explained.

Badur was somewhat panicked now, exchanging another glance with Voban, "I can donate ten thousand, no, twenty thousand gold lions to your Church."

"My Church is not lacking in money either."

"This..." Badur was dumbfounded.

Miss Rabbit, hearing this, couldn't help but speak out again, "You want us to go back to your castle with you so much but claim there's no plot?"

Badur quickly declared, "I have absolutely no intention of harming you two. I swear by the ancestors of the Rodriguez family that if I deceived you, may that dragon devour me whole."

With such a harsh oath uttered, the young woman briefly doubted whether she wrongly accused him.

But it didn't matter anymore; Li Yu didn't seem interested in such a poor-quality believer either, so Miss Rabbit called upon Pibo to leave.

Pibo hastily approached upon hearing this, perhaps realizing he could finally escape. His excitement became apparent as his body began trembling, too.

He kept expressing his gratitude towards the Lady and Li Yu, his steps somewhat unsteady and body emaciated. The Lady assisted him as he climbed onto the dragon's back.

But unexpectedly, at the next moment, Pibo lunged at her, simultaneously pulling out a small knife from his waist.

However, before he could place the knife against the Lady's throat, his body started convulsing violently, and he emitted a scream of agony.

Only when he collapsed to the ground did Li Yu retract the electronic explosive device, and Miss Rabbit also reacted, swiftly drawing the handgun from her waist and shooting Pibo in the chest.

Then Li Yu's voice reached her ears once again, "White Queen, eat that dwarf!"
