Chapter 145: Reunion with Family

Ireya was startled to hear that Ying Song had been injured. She put down the half-written letter in her hand and quickly walked out, only to see the latter being pushed in on a cart.

Ying Song was about to get up and salute the Lady, but the young girl quickly pressed him back down.

"You'd better lie down, Sir Tog." The Lady's gaze moved to the old man's waist, where there was a wound.

Although it had already been bandaged, it was still seeping blood. Judging by the looks of it, the wound was quite deep.

"Who injured you?" Miss Rabbit frowned.

"Thank you for your concern, but I have already avenged this grudge." Ying Song said calmly.

At this moment, Pearls also spoke up, "We surrounded Ilkand in his castle. Lord Ying Song proposed a duel with him, which Ilkand accepted, then he was beheaded by a single stroke from Lord Ying Song. It was a magnificent strike."

"You dueled with Ilkand?" The Lady was taken aback by this information.

Hearing this, Ying Song struggled to sit up again, "I'm sorry, Lady Ireya, I took it upon myself to kill Ilkand without your permission."

Miss Rabbit shook her head and said, "I am indeed angry, but not because you killed Ilkand, but because you risked dueling him.

"Ilkand is much younger than you, and his swordsmanship is very good. If you truly wished to avenge your son, why didn't you let our people attack together?"

At these words, Ying Song couldn't help but be moved. He hadn't expected that rather than blaming him, the Lady was actually concerned for his safety. He felt deeply touched in his heart.

However, he was not one to express gratitude verbally, so he silently resolved that he would follow the young lady for the rest of his life until his last breath.

"Ilkand was a noble after all. I hoped to grant him the death befitting a noble. Moreover, he still had your stepmother and brother with him at the time." Ying Song said slowly.

"You found them?"

Ying Song nodded, "They're in the carriage at the back. I brought them back, though I'm not sure if you plan to see them."

"There's no rush for that," the Lady said, "First, go find Ivan's servant to treat your wound. Fortunately, he's still here; otherwise, with such a severe injury, it would have been troublesome. Please remember not to take such risks in the future."

After saying this, the young lady personally escorted the old man to the field hospital temporarily set up by the Double Rest Sect, watching as Liu Xuebin cleaned Ying Song's wound and stitched it up.

This new servant from the Double Rest Sect was skilled, able to sew human flesh together like mending cloth, an act that always amazed Miss Rabbit.

Once Ying Song was settled, the young lady returned to her quarters. Just as she was about to enter the house, she remembered something, paused, and said to the guard beside her, "Bring Vanessa and Blanco in as well."

The carriage had been parked by the roadside all along, guarded so those inside couldn't escape.

Soon, the mother and son, still shaken, were brought before the young lady.

Truth be told, Miss Rabbit hadn't seen her stepmother and brother for over two years. If it hadn't been for hearing news of them recently, she might have completely forgotten about them.

One couldn't deny that they both had changed quite a bit. Blanco seemed to have grown taller. After all, boys typically grow at this age, so it was normal for him to become taller.

However, he appeared more timid than before, constantly hiding behind his mother, clutching Vanessa's clothing, afraid to show himself.

Though the two used to argue a lot, Ireya disliked Blanco's irksome demeanor. Seeing him so timid now only made her angrier.

She couldn't help saying, "You're big enough now, do you still need to hide behind your mother?"

In the end, it was better when she didn't speak. Upon hearing her words, Blanco seemed even more frightened, his face turning as pale as a sheet, his body trembling, with a quivering tone.

"No, please don't kill me. I'll do whatever you say, I'll do it."

Hearing this, Vanessa pulled him into her embrace again. She knew she couldn't protect Blanco with her current strength, but as a mother, she instinctively shielded her son.

The Lady originally wanted to scare them a little, but seeing this scene, she lost interest.

It was clear that in the past two years, Vanessa and Blanco had not lived well. Vanessa looked much older, even with a few gray hairs, making Miss Rabbit almost fail to recognize her at first.

After calming her son, Vanessa also sized up the young lady sitting not far away.

She felt her stepdaughter had become a stranger.

The previous Ireya was just an ordinary noblewoman, ignorant of politics, and hadn't heard of leading troops to war; she couldn't even wield a sword.

Ruse's expectation for her was to live this life safely, and if by chance she could become a priest of the Silver Moon Church, it would be even better.

Not only would she earn respect, but this position could also help the family.

No one expected that she would come this far, becoming the new ruler of the Western Territory.

Vanessa had always collected news regarding the Green Field and Ireya.

She listened as Ireya abandoned the family's centuries-old faith, converted to the Saturday faith, listened as she succeeded in slaying a Dragon, becoming a hero of the Western Territory, gaining knightly status, and miraculously defeating strong enemies to emerge as the champion of the martial arts tournament.

She later repelled the invading dwarves intending to intrude into the Western Territory and even defeated the invincible Wing Tribe in her presence.

Listening to it all felt like hearing a fairy tale to Vanessa, it was surreal.

At first, she felt somewhat envious and jealous of the young lady's luck, but gradually became numb because the gap between them had grown too wide.

"Do you intend to execute us?" Vanessa asked, her tone somewhat bitter.

And Blanco, who had just regained some spirit in her arms, shivered again at this question.

"Why would I kill you?" the Lady countered, "You no longer pose a threat to me now."

The young lady's words were a bit harsh, but they were true.

Indeed, with Ireya's current reputation, there was no longer any dispute about her position as the Family Head of the Green Field and Arias family.

Not to mention, she had won that election back then; Vanessa, unwilling to accept defeat and feeling that she had the majority of the family's support, foolishly attempted to seize Teacup Castle.

She forced her stepdaughter to relinquish her inheritance rights and, after failing, fled with her son, experiencing much hardship.

Vanessa regretted it every single day; if she had accepted the defeat then, tearfully now, maybe her son would have been granted land larger than the Green Field.

After all, no matter how you look at it, Blanco was still Ireya's brother, the only remaining male in the Arias family.
