Chapter 136: Hidden Program
After returning from the beach, Li Yu took out his phone, found Shi Yitong's QQ number, and asked her, "Do you know Director Taylor?"
However, it wasn't off-work time yet, so Shi Yitong was probably in another realm and didn't reply to his message.
Li Yu wasn't in a hurry, as it was still early before ten in the evening, he continued to stroll around the island, enjoying his vacation.
He also casually asked Ralph, "What is the real project on Dream Island?"
Ralph slightly bowed, "That's an entertainment activity reserved for only a select few VIPs with permission to access. I'm sorry I can't disclose the details, but if you get to experience it, I'm sure you'll find it worthwhile."
"Is there any danger?"
"As far as I know, there isn't," the butler said thoughtfully after a moment.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome."
By 7:15 PM local time, Shi Yitong finally replied to Li Yu, "Why are you asking about Taylor?"
"She and I are both on Dream Island now, and she invited me to her room at 10 PM," Li Yu typed.
For about thirty seconds, there was no response from the other side until Shi Yitong sent a sweat drop emoji, "Could it be that you guys are going to...?"
"I don't think she means anything like that, but I wanted to check with you just in case."
Shi Yitong seemed relieved, and replied much faster this time, "Other than Bernard, I've never heard of any director harassing employees, and Bernard is just annoyingly narcissistic; it's not like he's ever forced anyone..."
"Thanks." Li Yu typed these two words and was about to put his phone back into his pocket.
Shi Yitong sent another message, "You're on Dream Island?"
"Yeah."
"It's a nice place. The island has everything, and for what it doesn't, you can get the bellboys to arrange it. Plus, it's quiet—it's a great place to relax and unwind."
"Do you know about any hidden projects on the island?"
"You mean like hiring handsome guys to watch movies and get massages with you?"
"Never mind."
For dinner, Li Yu chose a different restaurant to eat seafood. Ralph hadn't exaggerated; the variety of dishes here was indeed rich. Li Yu had a three-pound rock lobster, bluefin tuna, and emperor crab, all freshly caught, and very fresh.
After dinner, he took another walk around the island. When it was almost time, he went to find Taylor, who lived on the other side of Dream Island, where there was an estate with a private beach, said to be used exclusively by the five directors.
When Li Yu arrived, he saw Taylor grilling meat on the beach and asked him if he wanted to join.
Li Yu said he had already had dinner, and upon hearing that, Taylor didn't insist, took a piece of steak in her mouth, juices trickling down her chin, but she didn't bother to wipe. In a few bites, she devoured the steak chunk.
Then she picked up a grilled sausage and ate that too, and after that was a lamb chop...
She looked like she hadn't eaten for a long time, clearing the grilling rack of enough meat for three people, finally wiping her mouth with a napkin and said contentedly, "Alright, I'm full. Meat truly is the most delicious."
"What were you eating before?" Li Yu asked.
"Vegetables, all sorts of roots and nuts, and bread," Taylor said. "Last week was vegetarian week, I ate these things for seven days."
"Are you a vegetarian?"
"Sometimes, yes," Taylor said, then glanced at her watch. "Oh, is it almost time? I'm glad you came over. Tonight I'll show you the company's most advanced faith technology. You won't regret your decision."
With that, she led Li Yu into the living room, upstairs to the second floor, where at the end of the hallway there was a white room that looked somewhat like the room Li Yu had left from before heading to the Bratis Continent.
However, in this room there were five things that looked like giant eggs.
Taylor pointed to those giant eggs, "Choose one, then lie down in it." Seeing Li Yu seemed a bit hesitant, she added, "Don't worry, although this thing is still in the experimental stage, there's no problem with its safety."
Li Yu had the [Reborn] ability, so he wasn't very scared. He chose the second machine on the left upon hearing this.
When he approached the machine, it automatically opened. The structure was somewhat like a decompression chamber on a submarine, and also a bit like the gaming pods in old web novels.
Li Yu sat in the chair filled with a sense of technology, his body naturally curling into a fetal position.
The white egg automatically closed, and although Li Yu didn't know what material this machine was made of, one couldn't see anything from the outside, but the scene outside was very clear from the inside.
He watched as Taylor tapped the outer shell of the giant egg, gave him an OK gesture, and then she also sat into the adjacent giant egg.
Soon after she went inside, a panel above Li Yu's head suddenly opened a small hole, and an unknown liquid sprayed down from that hole.
It quickly reached Li Yu's calves, causing his hairs to stand on end. He began to search for a switch or an emergency button or something similar.
But it seemed the button was either well-hidden, or the inventor of this machine simply hadn't included such a design, because he searched for a long time without finding anything.
In the meantime, the unknown liquid almost reached his chest, but fortunately, Taylor's voice rang out, "Don't be afraid; this fluid is specially made, and won't affect your breathing."
After a pause, she continued, "Relax your mind, this will feel much like when you descended, just a momentary dizziness, it'll pass quickly."
Li Yu felt a bit more at ease hearing this, but wanted to ask another question. At that moment, the water level had risen to his mouth.
So Li Yu decisively closed his mouth, and within three to five seconds, his nose was also submerged, but just as Taylor said, this strange liquid did not impair his breathing.
He didn't feel suffocated; after getting used to it, he actually found it a bit comfortable.
Once the egg was filled with water, Li Yu noticed a side LCD screen flicker on, displaying a Third Age logo and a loading symbol.
He opened his eyes wider, wanting to look more closely, but the next moment, a familiar dizziness overcame him, making him involuntarily close his eyes.
When he opened his eyes again, his visual surroundings had changed, it seemed he was lying in a small lake.
It was referred to as small because, compared to his body, the lake was indeed small, perhaps better called a pond, and this pond was very quiet, as if there were no other creatures besides him.
He didn't even see a fish until a voice appeared in his mind, "So, are you satisfied with this new body?"
