Chapter 125: Wonderful Fate

Ivan and Ona, two people originally unlinked by any common interests, came to know each other thanks to Clovis.

It was indeed Clovis who had captured them and locked them up in the same dungeon, with Ivan's cell located right next to Ona's.

Life in prison was unbearable, not only because of the poor food and living conditions but also because it was incredibly dull.

In such an extremely monotonous environment, one could distinctly feel the presence of time, making every minute and every second feel especially prolonged.

In order to pass the time, Ivan could only choose to talk to people.

He had talked with many imprisoned prisoners, but he talked the most with Ona.

For one, their cells were relatively close, and secondly, Ona was a noble, sharing more common ground with Ivan, and after chatting for a while, the former head of intelligence realized that this old woman was no ordinary lady.

She was a real tough person, knowing full well that Clovis was likely to capture her and yet she stayed in Rock Snow City to be captured by him.

Moreover, Ona even hoped that Clovis would kill her, but fortunately, Clovis had not lost his head.

He had previously permitted the Female Winged Clan and her White Dragon to attack Green Field which had already caused dissatisfaction among many of his vassals. If he had really listened to Lannita and killed Ireya's great-grandmother as well, probably not many lords would have continued to follow the Figrola family back to the Northern Territory.

At that time, Ivan also thought Ona's mind was abnormal because this old woman was firmly convinced that Ireya would win the great battle against those Wing Tribe members, and would even take down Rock Snow City, becoming the new ruler of the Western Territory.

The former head of intelligence had personally witnessed the power of those Wing Tribe members, and at that moment, he simply thought that Ona had become a bit fanatical in her belief in a foreign god called 'Saturday'.

Ona also told him that if he ever had the chance, he must kill Clovis, because Ireya was too soft-hearted.

Ivan was in complete agreement with this proposal, after all, it was Clovis who had caught him and thrown him into the dungeon.

Moreover, setting aside personal grievances and starting from the interests of the Arias family, the former head of intelligence also felt it was better if Clovis were dead.

Later on, events unfolded just as Ona had predicted. Ivan was captured by the Lady and successfully used his skills to shake off his captive status, becoming an adviser by Ireya's side.

Unfortunately, the Lady refused his suggestion to kill Clovis.

Ivan didn't think too much of it; he was just an adviser. Making suggestions was his duty, and whether or not they were adopted was for the monarch to decide.

Once entering Rock Snow City, while other nobles were busy besieging the Figrola family's castle, only Ivan took the time to visit the dungeon first, intending to bring out Ona—a deed that could also be counted as a merit.

Any other person would have had to search around, but the former head of intelligence returned to the familiar place, quickly finding the cell that had once held him and seeing Ona again next door.

However, after listening to him describe the current situation in the city, Ona was not in a hurry to leave, instead requesting Ivan to first find a way to eliminate Clovis.

After a brief consideration, Ivan agreed to Ona's request and then convinced Corki, eventually sending Clovis away successfully.

Clovis ultimately died at the hands of two former prisoners, which could only be described as a curious twist of fate.

With Ireya defeating the vast army formed by the Wing Tribe and their allies, and snatching Rock Snow City from the hands of the Figrola family, this series of actions deeply shocked the other nobles in the Western Territory.

Especially the nobles whose territories were close to Rock Snow City, they became restless and began sending their attendants to prepare horses.

These days, Miss Rabbit had been receiving nobles who sought her allegiance almost night and day, only finding time to breathe on Saturdays and Sundays.

Additionally, the young lady had given her warriors time off, allowing them to take the compensatory leave they had accrued.

Anyhow, the warfare wasn't urgent at the moment; the only task left was to conquer Lake City, and there likely wouldn't be any tough battles after that.

However, recently, the Lady had heard some news about her brother Blanco and Ilkand.

It was said that they too had raised the flag to expel the invaders, starting to strike everywhere and annex lands previously occupied by the Wing Tribe.

Because most people's attention was drawn to Ireya and the Resistance Army she led, Ilkand's reappearance didn't stir much commotion.

But their momentum was good, many places were lacking garrisons—either previously conscripted by Solomon or the local lords had joined the Resistance Army.

Ilkand now had roughly three thousand men at his disposal, and as long as he didn't attack major towns, he could already roam freely in the western territories.

In just over ten days, they had conquered a sizable territory.

However, the Lady temporarily disregarded them as she was figuring out how to attack the Lake City.

Solomon and his army of ten thousand from the Wing Tribe had been holed up in Lake City for almost a month with little activity.

They seldom even showed up in the city, making it hard for the Double Rest Sect's Sabbath who were in hiding there to ascertain their exact casualties.

According to Li Yu's estimates, of the ten thousand Winged Tribe members, only about a thousand likely remained. Solomon had sent out three hundred to assist Tristan in attacking the Green Field, and half were killed by the White Dragon and Firearms Team.

Now, there might be only about eight hundred Winged Tribe members alive in the city, or even fewer.

However, Ireya dared not take them lightly, mainly because those Winged Tribe members were indeed troublesome to deal with and highly mobile; even with only eight hundred left, they could still cause significant trouble.

The Lady needed to calculate the day to commence the battle further, waiting for Li Yu's availability to proceed with a peace of mind.

Fortunately, after about half a month of preparations, the Resistance Army had recruited fresh forces, breaking the thirty thousand mark and could be considered formidable.

Rock Snow City had also returned to calm, and the city's residents gradually adapted to the presence of the new City Lord.

Although there were still some remnants loyal to the Figrola family who were unwilling to give up and were active in the shadows, with the help of Romero and other major nobles in the city, these individuals were captured before they could cause substantial damage.

Moreover, the occasional presence of the White Queen, who flew in to scavenge food at the castle, also cooled down many hotheads who wanted revenge for Clovis.

This is not a novel with concepts of "being whitewashed weakly or darkened strongly," that White Dragon had already been formidable under Lannita's command, and its combat power leaped further after joining the Double Rest Sect.

Before resisting the Arias family, everyone had to weigh whether they were enough to be stuck in the giant dragon's teeth.

Moreover, to be fair, Ireya had done well after taking over the city, not imposing any tyranny or focusing on amassing wealth, effectively maintaining the status quo in the city.

Just as Miss Rabbit had calculated the days and was planning to continue her campaign, she suddenly received new information.

—Those from the Wing Tribe had left Lake City.
