Chapter 120: Conquering Rock Snow City

The battle ended even quicker than Ireya had anticipated.

The city's defenders were terrified by the roar of the White Dragon and the Italian Cannons, showing no will to fight.

And just as the Old Oak Tree and Ivan had analyzed, seeing the unfavorable situation, they put up a slight resistance, then quickly led their men to slip away through the east gate.

Rock Snow City was not his territory; he had little interest in defending the Figrola family's castle, and he took this opportunity to retreat toward Lake City to meet up with Solomon's great army.

His departure completely collapsed the morale of the remaining defenders.

Kamzi encountered little difficulty in taking over the gate; afterwards, the Resistance Army flooded into Rock Snow City.

On their way, they encountered almost no significant resistance and effortlessly took over important facilities like the city walls, granaries, and armories.

Eventually, they arrived outside the Figrola family castle.

This castle was originally built by the Enríquez family, having consumed plenty of manpower and resources. After Snow Claw Philip took it over, not only did he repair it, but he also further fortified its defenses.

The inner wall of the castle was raised, making it nearly half as tall again as the outer wall. Afterwards, a moat was dug in front of the castle and a stone bridge was installed, and now it had become a small-scale fortress.

Unsurprisingly, the stone bridge outside the wall was raised, but there was a figure standing at the end of the road.

Even from afar, they could hear his curses.

"Traitors!!!"

"You have forsaken those holy ancient oaths!!! You have desecrated the Ancient Spirit of your families, bringing shame to your ancestors and descendants!!!"

"You will certainly be despised by the people of this land!!! These people will not submit to you, they will show you their unyielding spirit…"

Fabrice pulled on the reins, stopping his warhorse, and interrupted the man,

"Excuse my bluntness, but when we entered the city, we noticed neither toughness nor resistance. I couldn't even find your military; they had all fled before they even saw us."

"Besides, why didn't you flee back inside the castle to be with your family, Lord Guise?"

"Because I wanted to stay here and hurl insults at you despicable scoundrels!" replied the noble named Guise furiously, his beard trembling as he spoke.

"I want you to witness the courage of the Figrola family, I am not afraid of your bows and blades!"

"If you were truly that brave, you should have led us to resist the Wing Tribe's attack instead of choosing to betray Sir Ireya,"

Ying Song, who had caught up from behind also interjected.

However, Guise continued unabated, "Ireya is nothing but a lowly bitch; if not for Marquis Kuren speaking on her behalf, she would never have been able to become the head of the Arias family. And look at her now, ungrateful and having betrayed Pisya.

"She consorted with that vile Pagan, Merlin, and indeed also treading a wicked path, even daring to supplant the Figrola family. David should not have only killed her father; he should have killed her as well!"

"Have you had enough?" Thomas arrived at that moment, his expression ominously dark, his hand already on the hilt of his sword.

Yet Guise showed no fear, still looking provocatively at the young Knight, scoffing, "What, afraid to admit what you've done? You cowardly eunuchs, if you've got the guts, then kill me!"

Thomas's arm veins bulged as he was about to draw his sword, but Kamzi, standing beside him, held him back, "Don't be impulsive, he's just hoping you'll kill him so he can be famous forever.

"Moreover, you are a vassal of Lady Ireya, if you kill him, this will also be charged to Lady Ireya's account."

"So I'm just supposed to stand here and listen to him sprout lies and insults about Lady Ireya?" Thomas retorted coldly.

"Of course not," Kamzi shook his head, "First, I will have someone take him away, and then we can discuss what to do with him later. The urgent matter now is to take down the castle in front of us and capture Clovis."

Before Kamzi could finish speaking, a whizzing sound was heard as something brushed past his shoulder.

Turning back, he saw that Guise, who had just been chattering non-stop, suddenly closed his mouth as an arrow pierced his throat, blood oozing out.

He clutched his throat with one hand and glared furiously at the archer.

"Who did this?!" Ramsey said angrily.

"Me." Jude, not caring much, tossed aside his bow, "I'm not a man of Sir Ireya, just the Deputy Commander of the Black Hound Guard; I guess it's okay for me to have killed him."

After finishing his statement, he looked again at Guise, "And don't speak ill of Prophet Merlin again, oh, and also, when you die and meet your ancestors, remember to tell them it was Jude of the Enríquez family who sent you to greet them."

As Jude spoke the last word, Guise's body also fell backward, tumbling into a deep trench.

This little episode didn't affect the army's next move.

When everyone had nearly arrived, the nobles began their attack on the castle, but this time, their opponent was the guard of the Figrola family.

These were professional soldiers who didn't engage in production, highly skilled in Martial Arts and loyal to the Figrola family, not frightened by dragons and cannons like the militia and garrison out in the outer city.

Backed by the towering, solid walls, they clashed with the Resistance Army.

Unfortunately, their numbers were too few, as Marquis Kuren had earlier taken a portion of the family elites to confront those heathens, and most of them died alongside Marquis Kuren in that small valley.

After that, Gwen met his defeat at Duolin City, losing a substantial number of his elites; now there were less than four hundred guards left in the castle, some of whom were recently recruited.

Their combat power was obviously inferior to that of the old veterans, and moreover, the White Queen had visited before, burning some people alive, so the catapults on the walls couldn't be used.

As the Resistance Army launched a fierce attack, the people inside the castle quickly began to falter.

However, what puzzled everyone was that up to that point, Clovis had not appeared. Hels was currently being held by the Wing Tribe people, and Clovis was the de facto head of the Figrola family.

But he hadn't gone to the walls to direct the battle, which was odd because even doing what Guise did to shout at the enemy from the walls to boost his men's morale would have been something.

Or could it be that he also fled with the Old Oak Tree group?

Kamzi furrowed his brows, wondering when Clovis had also become so cunning.

Though the Wing Tribe people already had Hels, having Clovis seemed of little use now.

Just as he was thinking this, he suddenly heard someone report that they had found Clovis in the library.
