Chapter 189 Transformation (Two-in-One Mega Chapter)
The bearded strongman, holding a longsword, swung his arm and said, "Go, kill him!"
As soon as he spoke, he took the lead and charged forward, being one of the strongest bandits in the Wild Wolf Hills and a rare veteran knight.
His band of bandits was even named after the "Wild Wolves" of Wild Wolf Hills, a testament to his confidence and ambition.
With money, he could expand his team and improve their weapons and equipment. Furthermore, completing this mission would deepen his cooperation with the Brotherhood of the Wilderness. It would kill two birds with one stone, so the bearded man was naturally very committed.
When over twenty men dressed as mercenaries saw their leader charging, their morale instantly surged. Their faces flushed as they screamed and excitedly rushed towards Rein.
Several crossbow arrows were shot at Rein before the others could even reach him!
Facing the oncoming rush, Rein drew his greatsword, still keeping his gaze steady. "Swoosh, swoosh," his figure moved slightly, and with a couple of shifts, he dodged the incoming crossbow arrows.
"Attack! Kill him!" a few leaders of the Wild Wolf Bandits hesitated, realizing the tough character they faced, but fueled by their superior numbers, they continued to roar and swung their weapons at Rein.
Suddenly!
Rein's chest suddenly puffed up, much like a frog inflates when it croaks!
Most notably, his swelling neck seemed like it harbored a steam-powered locomotive inside his chest, unable to contain the surging, high-temperature steam, about to burst forth from his swollen neck!
Sure enough, the next second, a huge gust of air, similar to a train's whistle, roared out of Rein's widely opened mouth!
"Roar!!!"
A roar that was much louder than all of their screams combined resounded!
It left every charging bandit from the Wild Wolf Bandits in shock, realizing they were in trouble; they tried desperately to stop their charge, but as the thought emerged in their minds, the wide-ranging sonic attack was already upon them!
When facing the sonic attack, the only escape would be outpacing the speed of sound!
But clearly, that was impossible for the bandits!
Instantly, a loud explosion blasted next to every bandit's ears. Most were immediately dazed, some even rolled their eyes, and their minds blanked out!
Their facial skin, under the subsequent shockwave, was repeatedly stretched, trembled, and deformed!
Immediately after, screams rang out high and low!
"Ah! Ah!"
And within seconds after the loud explosion, most bandits were seen clutching their ears, displaying expressions of unbearable pain. Their ears and brains were still buzzing, unable to recover quickly!
Even Giovanni in the carriage squinted, muttering, "Sonic attack, huh? Not a bad move."
But oddly enough, the cries of agony in the area began to decrease.
A gray shadow gripping a greatsword, like a high-speed sewing machine needle, darted back and forth among the twenty some bandits...
The "hisss hisss hisss" sound of air being sliced continued without pause!
Seconds later!
Not one member of the Wild Wolf Bandit gang, including their leader with the beard, was left standing. They had all been cut into segments and lay strewn across the field!
Rein shook the Glimmering Greatsword, tossing off the crimson bloodstains, while his eyes remained fixed on the large carriage without shifting.
The reason for using the "roaring strike" as his opening move, part of the explanation lay here. There was a formidable opponent on the sidelines, watching intently. The longer the fight dragged out, the more disadvantageous it would be, not to mention the potential for a sneak attack at any moment.
"Clap clap clap!"
Crisp applause emerged from within the carriage.
"Impressive strength. I thought you would at least get injured, but it seems I underestimated your level."
"However, it doesn't really matter; your outcome won't change much."
Along with a deep voice, a tall, slender knight, over two meters in height, holding a scythe-like weapon, slowly descended from the carriage.
Rein's eyes narrowed, focusing on the newcomer. It seems that he was indeed the main opponent for today.
The gray chest armor of the knight featured three dull, burning black flames, instantly reminding Rein of those black-flame monks he had killed before.
Three black flames?
It seems he was a personage in the black-flame cult?
Rein thought to himself.
Moreover, judging from the aura, the opponent wasn't a great knight; moreover, his own level 3 'danger perception' alert wasn't strong enough to be unbeatable by him.
This slightly settled Rein's mind.
Perhaps, if he had not gone to Master Ganther to improve, he might have been outmatched by this individual. But now, it seemed they were rather evenly matched.
Of course, it was likely that the opponent had some tricks up his sleeve.
But didn't he have his own?
Seeing Rein's calm demeanor made Giovanni slightly bored, shaking his head, "I enjoy the frenzy and screams of my prey before they die. You are too calm; I don't like it."
Stay connected through empire
"Or perhaps, you don't think you can escape this time, do you?"
"Last time, if not for that Druid... forget it, let's not talk about that."
Seemingly recalling the previous encounter made Giovanni's expression change under his helmet, leading him to abruptly cut off his words.
