Wizard Lord:I can Extract Anything

Chapter 389: Chapter 389 Within the Tower

Although this was a fantasy world with elements like Wizards and Magical Beasts, neither the Wizard World nor most other realms contained creatures with cores or crystals akin to mana cores or magic crystals.

Races possessing similar organs used their Magic Essence or cores either as energy storage devices or offensive organs. However, the object before Richard, resembling an inner elixir, bore no relation to either.

This Toad King's inner elixir was pure white, about the size of an infant's head, coated with a calcified layer resembling limescale, and weighed roughly five kilograms. Moreover, its shell possessed formidable insulating properties—so much so that Richard's spiritual energy couldn't penetrate its interior.

"This thing was left behind in that toad's body. Don't underestimate it. When I found it, it was submerged in the toad's venom yet showed no signs of corrosion," Ulysses explained as he stood nearby.

Richard's expression flickered with surprise. "It can withstand the Toad King's venom? That certainly warrants further study."

Carrying the elixir to the lab bench, Richard carefully scraped off some white powder for testing. The results revealed it to be an extremely stable calcified substance, ideal for insulation.

Next, he retrieved several Magic Power probes to examine the elixir's interior. Unfortunately, its protective shell proved too effective—the probes' emitted waves were entirely blocked.

Studying the results, Richard stroked his chin thoughtfully. "This doesn't seem like an organ. It's more like a calculus the toad deliberately formed to preserve something."

"Exactly—a calculus."

The Serpent King's voice suddenly sounded behind Richard. Turning, he saw the Serpent King's body, previously blown apart, now fully restored. However, the Life Radiation emanating from it carried a weak, exhausted aura.

This newly regenerated form was likely just a facade; complete recovery would take considerable time.

"This calculus is a special ability evolved by that toad, used to store certain things. I suggest you take precautions and crack it open directly. Inside likely lies the secret behind its evolution."

"Oh?" Richard was startled. "What have you discovered?"

The Serpent King gave a slight nod. "That toad should've been peacefully digested in my stomach. But the moment I swallowed it, I sensed an anomaly within its body. An abnormal energy surge erupted, reactivating the self-destruction I'd suppressed.

Had I not noticed in time and triggered the explosion prematurely, I'd have dissolved into a puddle of sludge like that toad. The source of that energy surge must've been preserved inside this calculus."

Richard nodded in agreement—the Serpent King's reasoning was sound. He then handed the elixir to the World Mushroom.

"Cut this open and examine it."

"As you wish."

Soon, the World Mushroom's Mycelium avatar arrived beside Richard, carrying a transparent force-field cage. Inside lay a pitch-black stone.

"Master, this object emits intense energy radiation capable of inducing mutations in flesh."

The voice of the World Mushroom echoed in Richard's ears. He nodded slightly, then reached his hand into the forcefield cage and gently touched the black stone.

[Material: Unknown Black Stone]

[Extractable Rule: Radiation Rule (Severely Incomplete)]

[Extraction Cost: 5 Soul Power]

Reading the information provided by the Miracle Furnace, Richard withdrew his already mutating hand from the forcefield cage.

"Not bad. Let's keep it for now."

Ulysses asked curiously, "What is this thing?"

"Nothing much, just a stone imbued with the radiation rule. I suspect the Toad King used this to break through mortal limits."

...

Since the Serpent King was injured, Richard had him stay in the Secret Realm to recuperate. Meanwhile, he and Ulysses returned to the Green Forest World, preparing to enter the Crystal Spire.

Upon exiting the Secret Realm, Richard noticed an eerie silence around them.

Looking down, he saw that the once-murky swamp water had turned pitch black.

"Ulysses, didn't you clean up those toxins?" Richard frowned.

The Toad King's venom was extraordinarily potent, infused with invasive rules.

If left untreated, this toxic swamp would become a lifeless wasteland.

"Gah, I didn't think of it." Ulysses chuckled awkwardly, then radiated Holy Light and cast a few Divine Arts into the water.

Under the effects of the Divine Arts, the swamp water instantly cleared.

"What kind of Divine Art is this?" Richard asked, astonished by the sudden purification.

Ulysses' Divine Arts seemed even more miraculous than a Wizard's Spellcraft.

"Water Purification, a minor Divine Art. It can cleanse polluted or toxic water, and its effectiveness scales with the user's power.

At my peak, a single Water Purification could purify an entire river. But the cost would be hundreds or thousands of times higher than a mortal's version."

Richard's mind immediately sparked with an idea.

"Blood contains a lot of water. Could I use Water Purification to—"

"No." Ulysses cut him off. "The original version did have that application, but after the creator of this Divine Art found out, he modified it.

Substances like blood can no longer be targeted by Water Purification."

"Tch. Why would the creator go out of his way to nerf it? Did he suddenly grow a conscience?" Richard grumbled.

Imagine using Water Purification to turn a creature's blood—or even its tissue fluid or cytoplasm—into pure water. The thought alone was thrilling.

"Because the deity felt it was inappropriate for a support Divine Art to have such terrifying effects," Ulysses said darkly. "Later, he built upon it to create a Divine Art called Blood Control, which includes the ability to purify blood into water."

Richard paused, struggling to comprehend the deity's reasoning.

Ulysses explained, "Water Purification is widely disseminated—almost every low-ranking priest knows it. The modification was to prevent those with ill intentions from abusing it."

He then sighed.

"Alas, even deities can't monitor every priest at all times. Sometimes, just a brief lapse in attention allows scum to emerge among their ranks."

Those minor priests are often more detestable than the high-ranking ones. These individuals are usually stationed where they're most needed, yet they frequently engage in wicked deeds.

Many churches, every three or four hundred years, have to support a chosen one to thoroughly cleanse the dregs within the church from the outside in with forceful measures. What a hassle."

Mentioning the cleansing of the church, Ulysses' resentment was almost palpable.

It seemed he had spent no small amount of effort on this matter.

"It seems I should also pay attention to the Miracle Order," Richard mused thoughtfully.

With that, he shifted his gaze to the Crystal Spire not far away.

"After all this talk, let's just go in first."

...

The Crystal Spire didn't appear impressive from a distance, but as Richard approached, he realized it was much taller than he had imagined.

The entire spire was constructed from a dark crystalline material. Under the weathering of time, these crystals had lost their former clarity and transparency, becoming somewhat murky.

On the first floor of the spire was a large door. Due to the erosion of time, the door's protective mechanisms had long since failed.

Richard entered the interior of the spire without any trouble.

Inside, the spire was empty. Equipment and such seemed to have been cleared out long ago.

However, this didn't surprise Richard.

Judging by the state of this world, the Precursors must have abandoned it voluntarily.

With a voluntary abandonment, anything inside this spire would have been taken if possible.

The Crystal Spire had no stairs, only a large hole at the center of each floor.

Richard guessed that these Precursors must have had an innate ability to fly, hence the complete absence of staircases.

Following the central hole of the spire, Richard made his way to the top.

There, he saw a still-functioning, dilapidated machine.

It was a crystalline construct resembling an old-fashioned gramophone, its horn continuously emitting specific energy into the surroundings.

Looking at this crystalline device, Richard said excitedly, "This must be the source of the swamp's thick fog."

As he spoke, he lightly touched the crystalline device.

[Material: Damaged Mist Barrier Generator]

[Extractable Information: Mist Barrier (Incomplete)]

[Extraction Cost: 100 Mental Energy]

"Huh, no rules involved?" Richard was slightly startled by the information provided by the Miracle Furnace.

He hadn't expected that the thick fog, which even Ulysses' divine eye couldn't penetrate, was merely something created using the surface appearance of rules.

The technology of the Precursors back then was truly terrifying.

Richard silently chose to extract. The crystalline device suddenly disappeared, yet the base it was connected to showed no signs of damage.

Moments later, the crystalline device reappeared. To Richard's surprise, it was still operational.

He tried moving it and found it remained tightly connected to its base.

"Don't bother, it's spatial displacement," Ulysses suddenly spoke up, watching Richard attempt to move the crystalline device.

"It's an extremely advanced technique. That furnace directly displaced the space where this machine is located.

In essence, the machine hasn't moved, nor has it separated from its base."

"That amazing?" Richard exclaimed in astonishment.

Ulysses said calmly, "For a furnace of this caliber, such capabilities are actually quite normal."

...

After securing the greatest prize, Richard activated his energy vision, intending to study the tower's power supply system in hopes of learning something new.

After all, this tower had sustained the mist barrier generator for so many years with its self-charging system. There must be something worth studying here.

But when Richard opened his energy vision, he suddenly realized that the tower seemed to be maintaining more than just the mist barrier generator.

This tower... seemed to have a basement as well!
