Chapter 57: Life Editing, A Great Expedition
The terrified voice of the World Mushroom made Richard quickly retract the flames.
"What's going on, why are you so afraid?"
"My Lord, don't you feel the danger of these flames?"
The voice of the World Mushroom carried a sense of lingering fear, as if those flames were a ravenous beast.
"What danger?"
Richard was somewhat bewildered. The wisp of flame in his hand was extremely docile, allowing him to manipulate it as he pleased.
The World Mushroom fell into a moment of silence after hearing this, then spoke to Richard in a very serious tone: "My Lord, these flames are extremely dangerous. Even a single spark, if mishandled, could pose a fatal threat to the World Master Realm.
These flames can incinerate... everything."
Everything?
A tiny golden flame emerged from Richard's fingertip. In his perception, the flame contained extremely dense rule power, but was restricted to just that.
"Incinerate everything? Does that mean it can burn rules as well?"
He casually conjured an energy bubble infused with additional rules, then brought the flame close. At the moment of contact, the entire magic bubble suddenly burst into flames.
Boom!
The raging flames flashed by. Upon looking again at the position of the magic bubble, there was nothing left.
"So strong?"
Richard looked at the flame in his hand, a hint of delight flashing across his face.
He didn't expect the flames from the Miracle Furnace to be so formidable; with this in hand, perhaps he...
Suddenly, Richard felt a slight dizziness in his head.
He retracted the flames and checked his soul, and with one look, Richard was instantly shocked.
"Using this thing actually burns the soul?"
Don't let it fool you; Richard merely played with the flames for a moment, yet within such a short span, his spiritual power, which had just been at 300 points, had already dropped to 290.
Richard said, somewhat apprehensive: "My goodness, if I played with this longer, I'd be burned down to worse than a mortal."
But though he said this, such consumption is indeed normal.
A figure like Richard at this level shouldn't possess it; it should belong to the Truth Wizards, the Divine Kings, the Star Realm Masters, who hold it as a prized possession.
"It's a method, after all; faced with those enemies difficult to deal with by conventional means, or with some who exceed the fourth level, this is a way to cope."
Putting aside the matter of the flames for now, Richard got up and went to the laboratory, taking out the corpses of those Wild Beastmen he had collected.

[Refining Consumption: 15 Soul Power]
...
After becoming a Great Wizard, Richard's spiritual power quality improved tenfold compared to his time as a Three Rings Wizard. Correspondingly, the consumption for refining these rules showed a tenfold reduction in its apparent value.
What once required all his soul power is now a task requiring less than a third of his soul power to refine all at once.
After refining the rules, Richard fused and pieced together similar rules, quickly assembling a fairly complete rule.
"Life Rule... this suits the path of physique evolution."
Although Richard's Life Rule and Radiation Rule had already been fused, this fusion was akin to the double helix of DNA, with the two rules connected and fixed together by some connection, yet not truly alloyed in nature. This is why the fusion of Richard's rules doesn't hinder him from constructing the most basic Rule Body.
After piecing them together, Richard's Life Rule was approaching completeness, and the Life Rule was just one of the foundational rules.
Disbanding the original Rule Body, Richard commenced constructing a Rule Body centered around the Life Rule within the Secret Realm.
Having constructed a Rule Body once before, Richard found the process rather familiar. However, he overlooked a problem, which was the cap of his spiritual power, because through refining rules, he had only a little over two hundred left.
The amount of spiritual power was insufficient to form a new Rule Body.
Thus, halfway through the construction, Richard was forced to stop.
Since this was a critical flaw, it could only be remedied by meditation and the self-recovery ability of the soul. Richard could only put aside the construction of the Rule Body and begin researching the Pioneer Relics he had obtained in the goblin world, as well as the Divine Palace Laboratory's knowledge regarding life.
Time flew by like a fleeting horse, rushing past.
In the blink of an eye, ten years had passed.
After ten years of research, Richard's understanding of life, or more precisely, the Life Core, became more profound.
In the research of the Pioneers, the countless flesh creatures within the Star Realm had ancestors who were all very similar single-celled organisms.
In the harsh survival environment, these cells began to gradually grow. By utilizing an organelle named Source Energy Body by the Pioneers, life took its first step in energy control.
From this moment, a tree named Evolution sprouted buds. Stimulated by energy, the process of biological evolution was incredibly rapid. In the laboratory created by the Pioneers, single-cell organisms that possessed the Source Energy Body evolved into multicellular life in just over a hundred thousand years. And then, in just tens of thousands of years, they gradually evolved from the most primitive multicellular organisms into a form of Primitive Magic Beast.
However, in the absence of the Source Energy Body, nothing happened over the span of more than a hundred thousand years.
Thus, the Pioneers concluded that energy is a catalyst for evolution. Without energy stimulation, the evolution of Flesh Creatures would be extremely slow.
However, this catalytic effect became very slow after the Energy Cycle of a creature was born.
Hence, the Evolution Road emerged.
Every species has its own Evolution Road, and creatures, driven by the experience of their tribes, forged a path on the barren lands that they could traverse.
Through collecting the Evolution Roads of different species and their corresponding Bloodlines, combined with exceptional computational ability, the Pioneers successfully analyzed parts of the mysteries of evolution—they mastered the code of life.
Through writing code, the Pioneers could obtain any creature they desired.
And the research achievement of Richard over the past decade is precisely this.
In the Divine Palace Laboratory, faint energy fluctuations continuously emanated from Richard's palm. Amidst these fluctuations, the Flesh on his hand was constantly changing.
Pop, pop, pop...
A layer of white Bone Scales pierced through the skin, covering Richard's palm, and then these scales began to glow with the radiance of Magic Power—there were Runes on these scales, and together they just happened to meet the requirements of a Magic Array.
Clap, clap, clap...
A round of applause came from behind Richard.
"Sir Richard, congratulations on your initial mastery of Life Editing."
Richard turned around to see Lan smiling and applauding. Lan also possessed the ability of Life Compilation, which Richard was just using in his biological compilation taught by Lan.
"It's just an initial mastery." Richard smiled and waved, making the Bone Scales fall off his palm with the gesture.
Life Editing is like coding, and Richard now is akin to a novice who has just learned coding, only capable of writing 'hello, world.' If he wants to truly apply this ability to combat, he has a long way to go.
However, there's no rush; Richard still has plenty of time, a few hundred years to proficiently master it.
"Even an initial mastery is commendable. It's hard to imagine a creature being able to grasp such complex, precise operations."
Life Compilation requires extremely meticulous energy control, and the Dominator possesses extraordinarily strong computational ability as well as the top-notch machines manufactured by the Pioneers back in the day, enabling them to accomplish this. Whereas Richard, a single creature, is hard-pressed to compare with mechanical precision in either computational ability or accuracy.
If not for possessing the Radiation Rule, Richard wouldn't even have the qualification for editing.
With biological editing mastered, Richard's cultivation was temporarily halted. Because after ten years of recovery, the Soul Power he initially consumed was fully restored.
Now he can finally build a new Rule Body.
Smoothly completing the Rune construction, Richard imported the nearly complete Life Rule into it.
In the next instant, Richard felt a comfort in the Flesh body within the Rule Body. After integrating the Life Rule, the energy of the Rule Body could actually transform into Life Energy.
With the construction complete, Richard did not rush to integrate. He absorbed the Rule Body into himself, then pulled out several scrolls made of leather from his pocket.
Ulysses's method of scroll making had not been thoroughly studied by Richard, so he could only awkwardly create several inferior products.
These scrolls' opened breaches could only transmit items, energy, and creatures no more than mortal level.
But with the mindset of having done them anyway, Richard decided to throw these scrolls out.
His purpose for throwing the scrolls was to plant a seed and support his puppet forces. These scrolls were sufficient for his needs.
Arriving at the outside of the Secret Realm, Richard gazed at the dazzling world before him and tossed the scrolls—knowing the world coordinates earlier, he had instructed the World Mushroom to transition the Secret Realm. Now, ten years later, the World Mushroom had reached its destination.
Looking at the scrolls disappearing into the World Barrier, Richard murmured to himself: "I hope they're of some use, seeing as they cost me quite a bit of time."
Returning to the Secret Realm, Richard traversed back to the goblin world through the breach.
In the office, Frank watched Richard step out from the Secret Realm and immediately rose to salute:
"My Master."
Richard nodded slightly, then announced his Oracle.
"Frank, assemble the army, the expedition is about to begin."
Frank was startled, but quickly responded, "Yes."
Soon, the news of the upcoming expedition spread from Frank's study, through the entire group of priests in Miracle City, and then through the crystal stone signal, spreading at a remarkable speed throughout the goblin world.
Thereafter, the army mobilized.
Goblin soldiers and war machines boarded trains heading for the Floating City. Their faces were filled with fervor and devotion; this day had been awaited for a long time.
The Crystal Screen Platform broadcasted the soldiers and war machines boarding the Floating City in its entirety, with soldiers singing military songs on the Floating City, while countless goblins wiped tears before the Crystal Screen Platform.
The Church did not hide the expedition's duration in its propaganda, saying that this expedition would be extremely long, long enough for a goblin to die of old age. Therefore, those goblins who were still mortals knew that once their children embarked, regardless of life or death, they would not be seen again in this lifetime.
The vast Floating City slowly entered the starlit space, with the enormous rift in the sky gradually closing.
The great expedition commenced.
