Wizard: I Can Refine Everything

Chapter 52: Return to the Nightmare World

"Is this your Composite Rule Body?"

Ulysses looked at the enormous rune model before him, so complex it resembled a galaxy, and couldn't help but be awed.

This thing was far more complicated than their Dual God Body.

"Pretty much," Richard said with a hint of pride while looking at the rune model. "This model has a lot of room for simplification. However, it already possesses everything a Composite Rule Body should have.

Using it as a Rule Body poses no problem at all."

Ulysses took a closer look at the rune model, the more he looked, the more it dazzled him, forcing him to avert his gaze.

"Gah, the gap between civilizations is indeed vast. This thing of yours is much more complex than ours. How do you ascend? Do you forcefully propel life transition through this Composite Rule Body? Or do you use it directly as an auxiliary to aid the ritual ascension?"

Richard nodded slightly: "Direct transition, but there will also be a ritual to assist me in completing the Rule Body. But before that, I need to complete the rules first."

Richard's Rule Body wasn't based on Radiation Rule but rather used Life Rule as the foundation, which is more fitting for Physique Evolution. Yet Richard's Life Rule was not complete, so he still needed to complete the Life Rule before ascending to a Five Rings Great Wizard.

To Richard, completing the rules was simple—within the Supreme Sect Treasury, some magical treasures contained Life Rules. With a little refinement using the Miracle Furnace, his rules could be completed.

"Gah, so what about your spiritual power?" Ulysses suddenly thought of a problem. "You are not pursuing Spiritual Evolution; you can just set aside physical frailty and wait for it to slowly rebound.

Once you ascend, the Rebound Effect should take at least a few thousand years, during which your combat power would be uncontrollable."

Wizards undergoing Spiritual Evolution, due to the special nature of Soul Carrier-type Rule Bodies, even in the rebound phase, could maintain their combat power unaffected by placing their physical body onto the core of the Rule Body. Richard, on the other hand, was different. He was a Physique Evolution Wizard. In the case of insufficient spiritual power, the surging strength could hinder his combat ability.

Richard smiled mysteriously, waved his hand, and a pitch-black door appeared beside the two of them.

"I naturally thought of this issue. In this century, I haven't just perfected the Composite Rule Body."

Upon seeing this somewhat familiar door, Ulysses immediately understood Richard's intent.

"Gah, I almost forgot. You have that good thing of the Nightmare World. But are you sure what's behind it is the Nightmare Wizard World?"

Richard shrugged indifferently: "Does it make any difference? Whether it is or isn't the Nightmare Wizard World, the properties of the Power of Nightmare wouldn't change. It's just a matter of killing a few Nightmare Lords."

To the past Richard, Nightmare Lords were terrifying existences to be avoided, but to the current Richard, these Nightmare Lords were just seas of mobile Soul Essence.

Over the years, he had made significant progress in Shaping Magic, and the Ten-Ring Witchcraft gifted by the Plastic Energy Crown had also been incorporated into his Rule Body.

"Gah, don't underestimate those Nightmare Lords," Ulysses reminded, "some Nightmare Lords have lived for hundreds of thousands, even millions of years, and their understanding and application of Nightmare Rules far exceed ours."

Richard waved his hand dismissively and laughed: "I'm no fool. I'll obviously target the ordinary Nightmare Lords, not those ancient ones."

The door opened, and Richard and Ulysses sealed themselves to prevent the overwhelming rules within them from shattering the Gate of Nightmare.

One of them was a Fifth Level being, the other possessed rules comparable to a Fifth Level being. The modest amount of Nightmare Rules contained in the Gate of Nightmare could be shattered if they didn't control it well.

Upon entering the door, Richard immediately found the position of his Soul Seed. After becoming a World Master, the invisible barrier that once blocked his connection with his Soul Seed could no longer hinder him.

The next moment, the door opened again.

After hundreds of years, Richard and Ulysses finally returned to the Nightmare Wizard World.

...

The scene outside the Gate of Nightmare remained unchanged, a black coffin where Richard's Nightmare Body lay. But unlike before, after experiencing the ultimate leap, Richard's soul had elevated along with his Soul Seed.

Now, his Soul Seed should be enough to allow him to ascend as a Nightmare Lord without worrying about backlash from the mental power of the Nightmare Core.

"Speaking of which, the Wizard World's development has been excellent over these years. I wonder if the Extreme North, such a good place, has been discovered by other Nightmare Lords."

The Wizard World now had a populace of all wizards, experiencing an explosive growth in population. Under such conditions, Nightmare Lords from the Nightmare Wizard World should appear in abundance.

"Definitely hasn't been discovered," Ulysses replied, "otherwise your body would've been devoured long ago."

Richard was stunned and then gave a somewhat awkward laugh.

"That makes sense. Come on, let's go for a stroll."

Easily removing the seal, seeing the "frail" Nightmare Body, Richard scratched his head in frustration. He turned his head towards Ulysses on his shoulder and asked: "How did you bear it back then?"

In Richard's perception, this body was as frail as paper. With a bit of exertion, he could cause it to shatter. Yet Ulysses, with the power of a World Master, stayed in the shell of a First or Second Level creature for hundreds of years with him.

Ulysses replied calmly: "Gah, you get used to it."

"Be honest."

"I didn't have a choice. Unable to change the environment, I could only adapt to it."

Cautiously entering the Nightmare Body, Richard felt like an adult wearing a child's clothes, exerting a little force could make the clothes crumble. On the other hand, Ulysses kept it simple—he infused some Power of Nightmare into his body, just enough to appear like a Nightmare Creature, and then stopped.

Anyway, he now has regained his strength. Even if the Nightmare Rules discover him, they would at most expel him.

After disguising themselves, the two of them walked out of the room. As soon as they came out, they were stunned on the spot.

"Is this... Extreme North City?"

Richard looked at the bustling city in front of him, too shocked to speak.

In Richard's impression, although Extreme North City is prosperous, it still bears the flavor of the classical era. The luxurious classical City Lord Mansion, carriages occasionally passing through the streets—these elements, though not numerous, exist to some extent.

But now, before Richard's eyes, there were only towering skyscrapers. Among these buildings, various Nightmare Creatures were constantly shuttling, and beneath them... was each riding a broom?

"Have wizards advanced into the Nightmare World?"

Richard immediately thought of this answer.

Small Floating City Power Furnaces require Nightmare Rules, and as the war expands, the demand for these rules would certainly be even stronger.

Mages would undoubtedly need a stable enough channel to provide them with Nightmare Rules.

The original ecology of Nightmare Creatures in the Nightmare World is too inefficient, and mages would certainly reshape the ecology, stabilizing the production of Nightmare Rules.

Before Richard could think further, a Nightmare Creature resembling a Black Knight came to them,

"Who are you?"

The Black Knight held the Great Sword warily, a material Richard knew well as Pure Gold.

"This question should be for me to ask you." Richard asked curiously, "What is your relationship with Bone? How has the city changed to this appearance?"

"Bone? How dare you address..." The Black Knight abruptly stopped his speech.

He scrutinized Richard—a black robe, a bird perched on his shoulder, and directly calling the lord's name... Suddenly, he considered a possibility.

Like magic, he pulled out a Crystal Ball from within his body, fiddled with it a bit, and then shouted at it, "Go check the situation inside the room... Don't ask why! Just go!"

Soon, a terrified voice emerged from the Crystal Ball.

"The coffin is open!"

Having received an answer, the Black Knight turned back to look at Richard, cautiously asking, "Have you returned?"

Richard smiled, "What else?"

The next moment, the Black Knight kneeled on one knee before Richard, "Golden Sword Knight Ero welcomes your arrival. Lord Bone is presently asleep in the Mansion; I will take you there."

Richard nodded slightly, then curiously asked, "Has Bone ascended to Lord?"

"Yes, my lord, Lord Bone became a lord six hundred years ago."

Richard calculated the time; it should be less than a hundred years after he went missing.

"Then how has this place turned into this appearance?" Richard pointed at the Nightmare Creatures flying to and fro in the sky and asked.

"This..." Ero hesitated for a moment, "This you must ask Lord Bone; Extreme North City has been this way since I was born."

"And how old are you?"

"My lord, I am three hundred and seventy-two years old this year."

Richard nodded slightly, thinking to himself that the changes began quite early. Calculating the time, it should be when wizards entered the Nightmare World and subdued Bone. Then began the ecological transformation, allowing Bone to become the lord to protect the territory from being disturbed by wild lords.

"But if this is the case, wouldn't it be impossible to obtain the Power of Nightmare?" Richard thought to himself with some headache.

The Power of Nightmare is an essential product for maturing Nightmare Creatures, while Nightmare Creatures are necessary raw materials for supplying Nightmare Rules. If he were to manage the Nightmare World, then the Power of Nightmare would certainly be regulated.

Shortly after, Richard arrived at the location of the City Lord Mansion in Extreme North City. Upon seeing the City Lord Mansion still in its original state, Richard finally felt a sense of familiarity.

Standing before the City Lord Mansion were several guards, all like Ero, Golden Sword Knights.

Ero stepped forward, said a few words, and soon saw the Golden Sword Knights panic entering the Mansion.

Before long, a large Knight came out from the Mansion. Looking at Richard, he immediately ordered the surrounding knights to open the door loudly.

Then he came before Richard, kneeling on one knee, "Lord, you have returned."

Richard entered the gate, and upon entering, he immediately sensed the magic array inside the Mansion.

"Hmm, I have returned. Tell me about the situation over these years." Richard nodded slightly, "To what extent has your cooperation with the Wizards proceeded?"
