Wizard Bloodline

Chapter 124: Chapter 124: Mirror Dagger, Silver Comb, Bloodline, and White Stone Castle

The hair Ronan gave to Borby was divided into three parts, each exchanged with a third-level wizard in the tower.

The first wizard provided Ronan with a half-fist-sized transparent object, soft to the touch, resembling some kind of gel.

This was a brain fluid extract from a creature known as a Mind Captor Beast. Unlike typical magical beasts, this creature had naturally strong mental powers, capable of grasping some psychic and curse-related spells.

Its brain fluid extract aids lower-level wizards in enhancing their mental power. The method involves burning it during meditation, and with special alchemical treatment, a small piece can burn for an entire summer.

Ronan hadn't tried its effects yet, but once he advanced to second-level, it would undoubtedly be useful, making it a resource he was quite satisfied with.

The second item was a small vial of Moon-Eating Whale's essence blood. This powerful beast inhabits the far western oceans, boasting a long lifespan and high growth potential. Rumor has it that some have seen Moon-Eating Whales as large as small islands, with wizard nations on their backs.

Benigo often mentioned that the blood of any powerful creature aids the growth of the Sacred Blood Tree, so when the third-level wizard offered a list for Ronan to choose from, finding nothing directly enhancing his power, he opted for the Moon-Eating Whale's blood.

The origin of this blood was unknown, likely obtained years ago and diluted after numerous extractions.

Considering that pristine Moon-Eating Whale essence blood wouldn't have come to Ronan, exchanging it for a few strands of hair was quite a good deal.

Compared to the first two wizards' offerings, the last one was quite straightforward, having Borby deliver Ronan a full two thousand high-level magic stones.

Seeing this amount before him, Ronan truly realized the allure his so-called "ancient giant bloodline" held for these third-level wizards.

Most bloodlines are products of ancient wizard experiments, some developed through self-exploration, retaining powerful traits over generations.

Others come from bloodline transplantation, like Ronan's "ancient giant bloodline," believed by the Seventh Ring's third-level wizards to be a successful transplantation of ancient giant blood by an ancient wizard.

They hoped to analyze this "bloodline transplantation technology" from Ronan to recreate the power and glory of ancient wizards.

This endeavor was akin to reverse engineering the Mirror Court's space and mirror magic legacies through runes—both bordering on wishful thinking, yet many wizards pursued it fervently.

According to Kosti, the entire Silver Ring held no more than five wizards with ancient bloodlines, including Ronan, and the other four's bloodlines were far weaker, lacking his late first-level ability to contend with late second-level foes.

Using his bloodline power showed no side effects, and it caused no issues in his daily life and practice.

This was in the relatively stable Silver Ring; if he were wandering alone and exposed his bloodline talent, he might have been captured by some evil wizards as a lab rat.

"Bloodline... what truly is a bloodline."

Ronan murmured, holding the vial of Moon-Eating Whale blood.

No one would guess he wasn't an ancient bloodline holder at all; his "giantification" was the result of pushing his physical body to an extreme. But if he spoke this truth, even fewer would believe him—no wizard would think a human body could reach such strength without modification.

Turning his attention to the last two items, Ronan felt a sense of anticipation.

He first picked up the dagger from the table.

The dagger's material resembled the mirror surface of the second-level artifact held by the First Ring's ponytailed witch, Fulyn. It felt metallic yet seemed to flow constantly, like a mirror reflecting ambient light.

The dagger housed a single rune, a complex and mysterious one, distinct from the core rune in the mirror artifact, estimated to be around second-level.

Ronan considered it, releasing mental power to slightly activate the rune.

Upon activation, the dagger's mirror-like blade flashed, emitting a faint spatial energy wave.

Ronan tried slicing the air with the dagger...

Nothing happened.

He then aimed the blade at a feather pen on the table.

Prepared for any outcome, Ronan anticipated the pen cutting silently, possibly including the table beneath, or even the floor...

But instead.

"Pop—"

The silver-glinting dagger lightly touched the feather pen, with a soft crack, and the pen vanished into thin air.

Then...

"Plop—"

Behind Ronan came the sound of something dropping to the ground.

Turning, he saw the feather pen intact, gently rolling to a stop on the floor.

"A small-scale spatial transfer?"

Ronan blinked, utterly surprised by this effect.

Testing with other items twice more confirmed that the mirrored dagger indeed contained a small-scale spatial transfer rune.

Anything it sliced was subject to spatial transfer.

The size of the transferred object and distance seemed linked to the user's mental power intensity and rune activation time.

Ronan looked at the dagger, bemused.

Setting it aside, he picked up the silver comb.

The rune enchanted within the exquisite comb was unlike any Ronan had seen, as intricate as the dagger's rune, yet distinct, ruling out another spatial transfer rune.

Given the dagger's outcome, Ronan didn't treat the comb like a regular one.

Lightly activating its rune, a faint spatial energy wave emerged. Ronan tried combing the air.

As he brushed, silver beams shot from the comb, slicing the air with silent, smooth "cuts," revealing a glimpse of darkness beyond.

Instantly, the crystal window opposite him shattered, the tower's breeze rushing in, lifting his white hair...

Ronan stared at the comb and dagger, silent for a long time.

Something resembling a dagger turned out to be a spatial transfer tool, while something like a comb was a weapon for killing, so...

"What was the point?"

Ronan wished to ask the mysterious garden's owner.

Couldn't they imbue items with their intended functions?

"Is this a wizard's twisted sense of humor?"

Ronan dismissed his silent complaint, his interest piqued by the runes within these artifacts.

Regardless, the artifacts' effects met his expectations.

Whether spatial transfer or space energy-based magical attack, if deciphered or utilized, they would be immensely beneficial.

"Either rune's effect, if integrated into my existing magic system, would transform my combat capability..."

Ronan's eyes gleamed. After consuming six "Murphy Tira's Kiss," his developed brain was his asset, and he was consistently interested in runology.

"The [Mirror Light] rune still has much room for improvement and upgrade, and I can't neglect the rune research on the All-Seeing Orb and mirror artifact... I'll be busy."

Ronan silently planned his next steps.

First, he needed to advance to second-level wizard.

Kosti said she'd prepare the necessary materials for his advancement.

This included the crucial crystallization array, potions to increase success rates and ease mental power crystallization, and post-advancement potions to solidify soul sigils on the mental power crystal and replenish soul power...

If Ronan gathered these himself, even with ample magic stones, it would take at least six months to assemble everything.

The benefits of a six-ring status and the Ringmaster's favor were evident, saving him much time and effort.

Next was further enhancing his spell cards, with [Energy Missile - Particle Stream] nearing the true comprehension of a domain resonance.

Based on his character panel data, Ronan estimated that mastery above 500 points indicated a domain resonance level, and he was close to reaching that goal.

Not just one spell was approaching this value!

If all his current spells, already exhibiting transcendent domain power, reached domain resonance, coupled with the [Mirror Light] rune's amplification, he couldn't fathom how powerful he'd become...

Additionally, constructing anchor spells for the freezing domain, with his zero-level high-grade [Ice Blade] reaching expert-level mastery, could further enhance the freezing domain's power by advancing to master-level and deriving transcendent domain.

And [Immaculate Body]'s routine training...

As Ronan pondered, the sound of wings flapping drew his attention.

Looking up, he saw a brightly feathered parrot flapping through the broken window, landing and transforming into a red-haired, big-nosed youth.

"You share the same love as Clemens, enjoying a wide-open window to feel the wind's embrace."

"Is there something you need, Borby?"

Ronan stored the items, calmly inquiring.

Borby, like the silver bat Biondini, housed a wizard's soul in another body.

Borby, once a powerful illusion wizard, was brought back by the previous Ringmaster after his body was destroyed.

Ronan learned a bit about the previous Ringmaster from Borby.

Kosti's brother, the former Ringmaster, was immensely powerful, even reaching the fourth-level dawn. During his tenure, the Seventh Ring wasn't ranked seventh.

He left for a journey and lost all contact with the Ring nearly a century ago...

"The Ringmaster invites you to discuss your advancement to second-level wizard."

Borby grinned, relaying the message. He served as the Ringmaster's confidant.

"Okay, got it."

Ronan nodded, standing up, briefly instructing the brass lock, Serri, to arrange for window repairs, then followed Borby to the tower's pinnacle.

Kosti was as busy as before, always seeming occupied.

This time, she stood at the long table's opposite end, apparently studying the blood she'd taken from Ronan.

"Damien, you're here."

Sensing Ronan's arrival, Kosti paused her research, raising a hand to calm the room's chaotic energy and aura with her powerful mental force.

Today, she wore silver-rimmed crystal glasses, lending her a mature, intellectual air.

"Your bloodline is mysteriously incomprehensible.

Besides extracting traces of moonlight elf blood, I found no evidence of ancient white-haired giants."

Kosti's first words were a soft sigh upon seeing Ronan.

Though bloodline analysis is notoriously difficult, her complete lack of findings left even Kosti feeling weary.

Ronan was surprised to learn he had elven blood.

Was his increasing handsomeness after body refinement due to this?

He instinctively touched his cheek.

"Alright, back to business."

Removing her crystal glasses, Kosti's blue-violet eyes fixed on Ronan, speaking seriously, "I've prepared all the materials you need to advance to second-level."

As she spoke, she handed him a silver-edged black cloth pouch, radiating faint spatial energy.

"But before you prepare for advancement, I suggest visiting White Stone Castle..."

"White Stone Castle?"

Ronan accepted the pouch, eyes flickering as if a sudden thought struck him.

"Yes."

Kosti explained, "White Stone Castle is a small gray-robed wizard enclave, different from typical wizard territories. It's organized by family.

Perpetually snowbound, the resident wizards primarily focus on ice magic.

The major wizard families in White Stone Castle possess a unique rune array legacy to extract certain traits from ice beast bloodlines, enhancing wizards' ice magic talent and ability."

"Bloodline transplantation?!"

Ronan was surprised, "Have they succeeded?"

Kosti shook her head, "Not as you imagine. This transplantation is temporary, with traits weakening over time, limited to ice beasts, and each wizard can only undergo it once in a lifetime."

"No wonder..."

Ronan understood; if it were true perfect bloodline transplantation, White Stone Castle might not exist.

A one-time consumable bloodline transplantation was indeed somewhat lackluster.

"The Mirror Court's core secret space will open in four months, and you'll represent the Ring in its exploration.

Though limited, White Stone Castle's bloodline transplantation can boost your power in the short term, just in time for the trial."

Kosti looked at Ronan, speaking softly, "Inside the Mirror Court, everything will change.

You'll face opponents from various, possibly stronger, wizard factions' top talents.

Damien, your talent is excellent, and your power is commendable among peers.

But you lack time's accumulation and refinement, leaving a significant gap between you and top-tier wizard talents from major factions.

I hope you gain more self-preservation skills."
