Witch, Fireball and the Evil God of Steam

Chapter 206: Please Submit Your Testimony

It was night.

Most of the mages in the Mage Tower had returned to their respective laboratories, no longer venturing outside.

The scholar's death left the Mage Tower in a state of panic. The thought that the murderer might still be inside the Mage Tower at this very moment caused a terrifying atmosphere to quietly spread among the people.

If the killer could murder the scholar during meditation, they could easily kill anyone among them.

Just recently, Ethan received a series of distressing bad news.

Several citizens of the Empire broke into the mansion of the other side. They appeared like marionettes controlled by strings, and unknown Magic Power surged through them. After being repelled by Anapolis, these "puppets" fell into a coma.

The doctors diagnosed that their bodies were still functioning normally, yet they had lost consciousness, with no way to predict when they would awaken.

This was the innate advantage of the Life Church priests. They speculated that these residents of the Empire had been forcibly infused with Magic Power. For this reason, the other side invited an expert in this field, Ave's father, Mr. Collins-Margaret. After passing on the family's knowledge to Ave, he has been reading books on ancient technology.

Mr. Collins believed this method of infusion resembled the summoning ritual studied by Julius, with the coma also corresponding to the fake death state where the host consciousness is lost after being occupied.

This proved a intricate connection between the attacker of the Empire's citizens and Turzan and the Divine Attendant.

Even more distressing was the permanent departure of Mr. Palansi.

This noble Round Table Knight made a call to the other side at the end of his life, uttering the name "Kadela."

The other side and Miss Keroy ultimately found Palansi's body in the outskirts of the Empire. The surroundings were a mess, suggesting it had gone through a fierce battle. Strangely, no wounds were found on Palansi's body. When the other side maintained a glimmer of hope and sent Palansi's body to the hospital, the doctors provided different diagnoses.

Unlike the other citizens of the Empire who were injected with Magic Power, this body no longer had any signs of life.

This brought the other side's mood down.

She finally met the respected elder from her childhood days practicing Swordsmanship, only to see him murdered right under her nose.

"Old Sen, I'd like to ask you a favor."

The voice at the other end of the phone was becoming weaker. She was in the hospital now, having been busy all night.

Ethan also heard the wind, which seemed to be from the rooftop of the hospital.

"Speak."

"No matter who the murderer is, you must find them."

"I will."

The call ended, and Ethan held a magic lamp, inside which burned Magic flames—one of many magical tools found in the scholar's laboratory, many of which had intriguing functions.

His mood was also complex, silently reciting the name "Kadela."

This name belonged to the God of Trickery, information that Palansi conveyed to them with his last breath; expressing it as the final ripple isn't an exaggeration. It must contain extremely important information.

Could it be that this was all orchestrated by the God of Trickery himself?

As someone who was used to going to bed and waking up early, Ethan found himself sleepless tonight. Not only was he devoid of sleepiness, but he was also extremely agitated, suspecting that it might be caused by that bottle of unknown Magic Potion.

The green-haired girl seemed clingy. Petite in stature, she hugged Ethan's arm after they left the house, tagging along closely behind.

It was apparent that his spirit was in an abnormal state.

Not long ago, Ethan saw the electric element, with slicked-back hair, descending the spiral staircase, leaving behind some crackling sounds.

He wandered aimlessly in the Mage Tower, his mind echoing with the conversation he had with the other side earlier. She mentioned crucial information—those Empire citizens carried a bottle of black Magic Potion when breaking into the mansion, seemingly intent on forcing it down her throat.

With Aelium present, they certainly couldn't succeed. Moreover, she herself was a newly crowned Saint at her peak. How could she be so easily forced to drink an unknown Magic Potion?

However, what the other side didn't know was that, in another part of the Mage Tower, Ethan had already consumed two large bottles of "unknown" Magic Potion.

But so far, no strange strings appeared on his body, nor was he controlled, the only symptom being extreme mental agitation, even rendering it hard to sit still, making him feel the need to wander around.

He felt like a middle-aged person taking a child out for a walk, but the wind element was introverted, preferring to follow him rather than mingle with other elements and Magic Masters in the Mage Tower.

Ethan tried to connect the clues he knew: the first to drink the Magic Potion was the scholar. She mentioned in her manuscripts that while trying to understand the rules of the God of Trickery, she heard His resonance, but the wind element believed she was deceived by someone calling himself Kadela.

"Kadela" implanted an idea into her mind—the God of Trickery was masterful at deception, and their way of advancement differed from the rule-focused academic faction. She needed a colossal lie to deceive everyone. This was the test given to all believers by the God of Trickery.

The scholar took it as truth and, according to Kadela's mention of resonance, gathered a storage cabinet of Magic Potion.

Firstly, the scholar was a shrewd old lady and possibly the Empire's most outstanding Great Mage. A clumsy lie would immediately be seen through, causing her to suspect "Kadela's" real identity, especially since they'd already exchanged information about mainstream deities falling before returning to the Mage Tower.
