17: Inspiration Strikes
“What method?”
After walking out, Bai Ling curiously asked.
While she was inside having a tense conversation, the blonde girl seemed to be getting along well with others outside. If she had come out any later, they might have started calling each other sisters.
“It’s nothing,” Yuan Xiaoning said vaguely, “Just some small life tips.”
Bai Ling didn’t pay much attention, figuring it probably wasn’t anything important.
When they left the bar, it was already eleven at night. Queen’s Boulevard wasn’t considered a night market area, so the streets were mostly deserted at this hour.
“It’s so quiet, not a single person on the street,” Yuan Xiaoning yawned softly, “Completely different from home.”
Bai Ling couldn’t be bothered to respond.
It’s half-past eleven at night, where wouldn’t be different except for the late-night food streets?
There happened to be a hotel on Queen’s Boulevard. The receptionist hadn’t changed shifts yet and was yawning boredly.
“One room, single bed is fine, facing away from the light,” Bai Ling said as she approached.
Yuan Xiaoning moved her little mouth, wanting to argue for at least two beds, but after hesitating for a while, she didn’t dare to speak up.
“Alright, Room 304,” the receptionist clicked a few times on the computer, “Please show your ID.”
Bai Ling raised her hand to pass it over. Yuan Xiaoning glanced at it – goodness, there was nothing in her hand, just a handful of air.
The receptionist very naturally took it, made a show of looking at it, then used her own ID to open the room.
Mental invasion really is useful.
“It’s done.”
Taking the room key, they went up to the third floor to rest. Yuan Xiaoning stretched lazily and flopped onto the bed, ready to sleep.
Soon after, Bai Ling also climbed into bed, wrapping an arm around her waist.
At first, Yuan Xiaoning didn’t pay attention, until Bai Ling’s hand opened her collar and reached for her breasts.
“Wait a minute,” the blonde girl blinked in confusion, “Didn’t your talk go well earlier?”
During dinner, they had agreed that she would only be used to vent if the talk went badly.
Conversely, shouldn’t she be happy if the talk went well?
“Yes, very happy,” Bai Ling said calmly, “So we’re celebrating.”
“?” Yuan Xiaoning was baffled.
Wait, if she’s unhappy she vents on me, if she’s happy she celebrates with me, then what am I?
“Wait.”
She fished out the two White Rabbit milk candies from her pocket, looking at Bai Ling pleadingly: “Can I trade these White Rabbits for those White Rabbits to rest tonight?”
Bai Ling looked at her sparkling eyes, gently took the candies, and placed them softly on the bedside table… then came back to continue.
Acting cute and silly, how amusing. Did she think they were playing house?
“Wait, how are you… mmph.”
Sister A-Lan, your first trick of “getting by with cuteness” doesn’t seem to work at all.
However, this time was different from before. Not only did it last just half an hour, but there weren’t many tricks either. Yuan Xiaoning hadn’t even reached her peak when she realized it was already over.
“Why so… early today?” she asked curiously.
That was close. She was about to say “quick” but sensed the danger at the last second and forcibly changed the word.
This is the Dragon King’s intuition, able to sense danger, like Spider-Sense in movies.
“Because we need to go back early tomorrow,” Bai Ling said plainly.
This time she didn’t linger. After finishing simply, she hugged Yuan Xiaoning’s breasts and prepared to rest.
“We’re going back tomorrow?” Yuan Xiaoning didn’t understand, “Isn’t school starting the day after tomorrow?”
They could just go straight back to the school dormitory tomorrow night. Why make an extra trip to the Zhang family?
Bai Ling took a deep breath, the scent of lemon water mixed with milk fragrance allowing her to control her emotions slightly.
“Going back for a while to inform them of some things.”
Yuan Xiaoning was curious: “What things?”
“Their day of death.”
Geez, such strong killing intent. The blonde girl didn’t dare to ask further.
Better to just sleep. After enduring half an hour of penetration, she was a bit tired.
Zzzz
Since they slept late, they slept in a bit the next day. They took a car back to the Zhang family after having lunch.
“Um, I’ll go to my room first,” Yuan Xiaoning said.
This trip back wasn’t for anything good, and she didn’t want to get involved.
The Zhang family members were already in the living room when Bai Ling walked in, running into them.
“Well, look who’s back,” Zhang Shanshan spoke first, “Which hotel did you party at last night? Or did you not sleep at all?”
Usually, Bai Ling wouldn’t respond to such remarks, but today she unexpectedly replied:
“The Love Night Bar on Queen’s Boulevard. Nice environment.”
“Xiao Ling, it’s good that you’re back,” Zhang Shengkang said before his daughter could speak, “You’re returning to school tomorrow, I was afraid you’d forget while playing.”
He gave Huang Ling a look, and she understood, forcibly dragging their daughter back to her room, saying she needed to check her thesis.
“Mom, you only have a high school education, how can you understand my thesis…”
Amidst Zhang Shanshan’s protests, Huang Ling left with her, leaving only Bai Ling and Zhang Shengkang in the living room.
Zhang Shengkang picked up the TV remote and pressed it a few times, pretending to be casual as he said, “Xiao Ling, did you see the news? There was an explosion at Tianhai Plaza yesterday afternoon. Fortunately, you’re alright.”
“Mm, it’s fine,” Bai Ling also looked at the TV, “I have some ability to protect myself now.”
“That’s good, that’s good.” Zhang Shengkang squeezed out two sentences.
The shadow cast by the backlight covered his expression of frustration and unease.
“By the way, Uncle Zhang,” Bai Ling suddenly said, “Next weekend, I’d like to pay respects to my parents. Could you drive me there?”
Zhang Shengkang’s hand trembled slightly, and he forced a smile: “Why the sudden thought of paying respects? Won’t it affect your studies?”
“I mentioned before that I wanted to investigate the suspicious points of that incident, right? Before taking formal action, I want to tell my parents,” Bai Ling’s expression remained calm, “So their spirits in heaven can bless me.”
“I see.”
Bai Ling sat on the left, and Zhang Shengkang used his right hand to quietly wipe away cold sweat, saying, “No problem. I miss your parents too. I’ll go with you to see them then.”
“Good,” the white-haired girl’s lips curled into a cold smile, “Thank you, Uncle Zhang.”
Upstairs in her room, Yuan Xiaoning lay on the bed, rolling over.
“Sigh, I feel like I’m failing miserably as a villain,” she suddenly lamented.
[Why does the host say this?]
“Why, you ask? Never mind anything else, look at these few days since I transmigrated. Every day I’m either on the bed, on a chair, or on the sofa. Is this how a villain is supposed to act?”
Thinking about her experiences these past few days, Yuan Xiaoning couldn’t help but feel sorrowful: “I just don’t understand. Getting done every day, every single day. Am I really that good to do?”
She’s amazing because she’s reborn, but aren’t I also a transmigrator? Why is there such a big difference?
[Given the situation, please maintain a positive and sunny attitude. Also, a reminder that there are three days left until the deadline for the weekly mission.]
“I know, don’t rush me. I’m trying to think of a way right now.”
Yuan Xiaoning grumbled, thinking that solutions aren’t so easy to find. It needs to be both tactful and effective… Wait, she suddenly remembered Sister A-Lan’s guidance.
“I have an inspiration.”
