Chapter 78: Interlude 1-18: Claustrophobia Syndrome – Dusk-Level Admission Ticket
Interlude 1-18: Claustrophobia Syndrome – Dusk-Level Admission Ticket
Admission Ticket.
This was the first time Takakai had seen such an item—something almost indispensable and considered a precious commodity among players.
He gently reached out to touch it, feeling a surface like sandpaper, with a faint chill to it.
Although it was a tangible object that could be physically felt, the "old man" (28 years old) merely raised his hand, and the old ticket labeled [Putty Nutty Cave Ticket] vanished, reappearing in his hand.
When Takakai touched the words on the ticket, he faintly heard a voice reading: "Dusk-Level Admission Ticket – Claustrophobia Syndrome."
"There are a total of three tickets, all from the same location, and all of Dusk level. If I were to trade them with someone else, I could profit greatly from these three tickets. But right now, I'm willing to offer them to you at a discounted rate."
The old man spoke in a low voice, holding the three tickets.
"You said this is an unfixed dungeon?"
Takakai wasn't in a rush to negotiate a price but instead furrowed his brow and asked first.
"That's correct, unfixed. As such, the core Obsession hasn't yet appeared, meaning the dungeon at this stage is the easiest to clear. If you careful, There's no need to worry about dying—everyone can escape safely."
The old man smiled again, noticing the concern on Takakai's face and quickly grasping what the younger man was worried about.
"If you're worried about suddenly encountering a fixed dungeon inside, you don't need to be."
"A 'fixed' dungeon isn't an abrupt change but rather a gradual process that players can notice in advance."
"And according to feedback from players who entered this dungeon last month, there are no signs of it becoming 'fixed' yet, so you can rest assured. Of course, I'll admit there are rare cases where some locations suddenly fix themselves, but those are extremely uncommon. Currently, the player network has only identified three such examples. I'm confident you won't encounter such a situation."
After saying this, the old man smiled again, placing the three tickets on the table and making a gesture as if to say, "That's all I have to say."
"Is that so…"
Takakai wanted to laugh at this old man. If it weren't for the last thing he said, Takakai might have felt there was no issue. But now, after that statement, he had a nagging feeling that he'd triggered a classic "flag" like, 'After this battle, I'll return and build a harem,' which inevitably leads to a major disaster in the next quest.
"So, what do you want?"
Seeing Takakai remain silent, Kaguya asked.
"I need the Obsession [Flesh and Blood Substitute]. In addition, you can offer two more items—each Obsession will get you one ticket. Three items for three tickets; it's that simple. Of course, I won't just give you the tickets—I'll also provide you with information about this dungeon. I guarantee this information is completely new and accurate and will definitely help you clear it safely."
Ogawa Itsuki chuckled lightly. If it weren't for the occasional insects crawling out of his face, one might say his face—despite its age—exuded a certain kindness, almost compassion.
Three Obsessions, including [Flesh and Blood]?
Takakai fell into thought.
It was clear this trading partner had made up his mind from the start, and the three Obsessions to be exchanged had already been predetermined.
The life-and-death battle between Shijo Maki and the two veteran players was exceedingly dangerous. The bloody fight had caused the two Obsessions Maki obtained from those women to nearly spiral out of control. This was one of the main reasons why Takakai had to collect Obsessions from Maki. Adding [Flesh and Blood], the bizarre Obsession that none of the three had any intention of keeping, it was clear that Ogawa Itsuki's target was very specific.
So ultimately, after dealing with the [Female Mask Gang], the Obsessions obtained—bloody scissors, a black umbrella, and a black arm—weren't terrible, especially considering they hadn't paid much of a price for them.
Takakai remained silent, while Maki and Kaguya frowned in contemplation, unable to decide immediately.
"I know you have many doubts. Whether it's [Flesh and Blood] or those uncontrollable Obsessions, they are very important to us. I'll be blunt: the Obsessions in the hands of the [Female Mask Gang] have highly suspicious origins. Although there's no concrete evidence yet, it's certain they obtained them through illegitimate means.
Therefore, if you hand them over to us, it's a win-win situation. Of course, if you insist on keeping them, that's fine. But in that case, you won't be able to get the three tickets. Transactions in the [Market] are non-negotiable. Meeting you three in particular was my priority because of your potential."
Seeing the trio hesitate, Ogawa Itsuki spoke frankly.
The old man's attitude was crystal clear. He was genuinely intent on acquiring the three Obsessions, but to be honest, they weren't worth as much as three admission tickets to the same Dusk-level dungeon for three people—let alone three times that value. Therefore, if these three young players kept trying to haggle, he would have no reason to continue the deal. After all, it was Takakai's side that truly needed the tickets; they were the ones in a more desperate position.
Kaguya and Maki couldn't make a decision immediately, hesitating and wanting to continue the discussion.
After a brief silence, Takakai shifted his gaze to Aoyama Nanami, the witness of the transaction.
"Aoyama-san, as a witness to this transaction, can you vouch for the fairness of this deal?"
He asked seriously, his tone firm.
"Of course. Ogawa-san has been running the Tokyo trading zone for half a year now and has always been fair. The items he's offering today have also been verified by me beforehand, and there's no issue with them," Aoyama Nanami replied, her expression equally serious.
Hearing such an answer, Takakai didn't hesitate. He nodded directly at Ogawa and retrieved the Obsessions from his wristwatch.
From Ogawa Itsuki's unsurprised expression, Takakai knew his wristwatch, which could store Obsessions, had been exposed earlier. He just didn't know when the other party had started paying attention to him or what method they used to monitor him undetected.
Was it the insects?
"Kai-kun…"
Maki hadn't expected Takakai to decide so decisively and unconsciously called out in a low voice.
"It's fine. The other party's stance is clear; we can't afford to be too stingy. But I still want to ask, what exactly can you tell us about the dungeon?"
Takakai placed [Flesh and Blood Substitute] and two nearly out-of-control Obsessions on the table. He reassured Maki before turning back to ask Ogawa Itsuki.
"A map, dungeon information, and strategies for clearing it," Ogawa Itsuki replied as three tickets appeared in his other hand.
At that moment, Takakai felt a strange sense of connection form between himself and Ogawa. He vaguely heard Ogawa say, [Transfer Accepted], and then realized the ticket had fallen into his hand. This time, he could feel the ticket as though it was linked to him. It could now appear or disappear at his will, no matter how far away he was from it.
The three Obsessions were grasped by some invisible force, moved next to Ogawa, and swallowed by the darkness on the table.
Shortly after, a document was pushed in front of the three of them.
[Dungeon Information: Nutty Putty Cave]
I. Method of Completion
Assume the roles of tourists and a tour guide. From the entry gate, follow this sequence: entry gate → gentle slope → plain → grand plaza → plain → stone path → entry gate. Completing the entire Nutty Putty Cave will allow you to leave the dungeon.Current record for fastest completion: 2 hours, 25 minutes.
Important Notes:
1. Do not approach the area near the giant slide.
As tourists, your actions are restricted to the designated sightseeing areas. You are ordinary tourists without exploration permits. For areas like the giant slide, which are not open to regular visitors, you will have no interest or desire to approach them.
2. Do not look at any maps inside the cave.
Especially avoid full maps related to areas outside the designated tourist zones.
3. Do not respond to anyone asking for help or urging you to go toward the giant slide.
Ignore them entirely.
4. Do not engage with anyone who starts a conversation or asks for directions.
If blocked and unable to leave, instruct the person to find staff near the entry gate.
5. Do not discuss topics such as "crowding," "narrowness," or "claustrophobia" while inside the dungeon.
Ideally, maintain silence during the tour. Remember, you are not real tourists, so don't overact.
6. The player acting as the tour guide can reprimand anyone obstructing them.
Use the excuse "Don't disrupt my work." Violence may be used if necessary.
7. The tour guide should ideally introduce each sightseeing area.
This document includes a copy of the Nutty Putty Cave Travel Guide, compiled by players who have successfully cleared the dungeon, which can serve as a reference.
8. If you encounter someone wearing a soldier's uniform during the tour, avoid them immediately.
Do not make contact.
9. If you encounter someone in a yellow uniform during the tour, leave their vicinity immediately.
10. If you come across a large group of tourists, avoid them as quickly as possible.
Stay far away from where they are. Once confirmed safe, select a second player to act as the tour guide.
11. If you learn what lies beyond the giant slide and survive to leave this dungeon, never return.

III. Nutty Putty Cave Tourist Handbook
Welcome, dear guests!
Welcome to Nutty Putty Cave, an ancient cave with millions of years of history. With a spring-like climate all year round—warm in winter and cool in summer—this cave showcases diverse, fascinating terrains from ancient times to the present. This handbook will guide you through the cave's sightseeing areas. We hope you have a wonderful experience here!
1. Entry Gate
The entrance to Nutty Putty Cave has been repaired and upgraded several times. Visitors can now access the cave through a specially constructed staircase.
Note: The stairs are steep, so please refrain from playing near the entrance to avoid slipping or falling.
Upon entering Nutty Putty Cave through the gate, you will arrive at an area with layered natural rock formations. This marks the official start of your journey into Nutty Putty Cave.
Important: Do not climb over railings or venture into areas beyond restricted lines. These are zones not yet developed for tourism, and entering them may result in danger. The facility is not responsible for accidents in these areas.
2. Gentle Slope
From the entry gate, you will come across a fork in the path. If you choose the right path, you will reach the "Gentle Slope" area of Nutty Putty Cave.
This is a tunnel approximately 120 meters long. The tunnel's ceiling is quite high, with the lowest point being 220 cm, so even tall visitors don't have to worry about bumping their heads.
The terrain here has varying elevations. Visitors will encounter continuous ups and downs, but don't worry—the slopes are mostly mild, and there are many handrails and benches along the way. You can take your time and enjoy this natural corridor.
Caution: While most of the slopes are gentle, there is a 300-meter-deep fissure in the middle of the tunnel. Do not climb over the railings. If you fall into this fissure after signing the liability waiver, you will bear the cost of your rescue and compensate the facility for any damage.
3. Stone Path
At the fork near the entrance, if you choose the left path, you will reach the "Stone Path" area of Nutty Putty Cave.
This path is 150 meters long and narrow, with low sections of stalactites. Visitors who are taller or larger should be cautious while traversing this path.
The Stone Path is a narrow and flat road, surrounded by numerous stalactite formations and stone pillars. This "forest of rocks" creates a stunning and unique natural beauty. Several viewing points have been installed here, so visitors can take memorable photos. Reminder: Do not climb over railings or damage the stalactites.
4. Plains
Exiting the Gentle Slope or Stone Path, you will arrive at the "Plains" area of Nutty Putty Cave.
This is the largest section of the cave, a natural chamber with stratified rocks. Legend has it that 300,000 years ago, this area was entirely submerged by floodwaters. Visitors can marvel at many unique cave formations here, and we hope you enjoy your time exploring this area.
Several simple benches and stone chairs have been installed for visitors to rest. Please do not litter. Cleaning inside the cave is a challenging task, so we hope visitors can be considerate of the staff.
5. Grand Plaza
Continuing from the Plains, you will reach the final tourist area of Nutty Putty Cave: the "Grand Plaza."
This section is a flat terrain with a gentle slope. It features numerous large stone pillars and is ideal for sightseeing and relaxation. At the edges of the plaza, you may notice water seeping from a nearby lake. Do not drink this water.
Although this area is deep within Nutty Putty Cave, the unique cave structure allows cool breezes to flow through, making the temperature comfortable. If you visit during winter, please dress warmly before entering this area.
IV. Detailed Notes from Players Who Cleared the Dungeon
....
The content in this document is truly not small. In addition to the basic information summarized above, there are also records of experiences from players who have completed the mission.
If Takakai had to describe this document, he could only say that he feels like he's experiencing newbie tutorial quests, helping you familiarize yourself with the process. Especially when recalling the terrible experience in the Shirakawa Apartment instance, he could even feel tears about to fall.
So, this is what a Dusk-level dungeon feels like?
So, this is what it feels like to have the support of veteran players?
"These documents were exchanged with the lives of players, so I hope you will cherish them. [The Market] will remember your friendly attitude. If you encounter any difficulties in the future, just come find me. I have faith in your future."
After saying this, Ogawa stood up and left, bidding farewell to everyone.
"Then we should get going too. Cherish this easy-going experience. Try your best to survive."
Aoyama Nanami and Gotoh Hitori quickly left as well, not forgetting to cheer on Takakai and the others before departing.
"Easy-going experience, huh?"
Takakai murmured to himself, trying not to reveal any additional thoughts to avoid "triggering a flag."
As long as the dungeon isn't fixed, the difficulty won't change—it's still just a simple mission, fundamentally not too challenging.
As long as this dungeon… isn't "Fixed," and there's no appearance of the Obsession core, then…
Amid the clicking sounds of the camera, Maki and Kaguya captured photos of every page of the document. Takakai, with a slight unease in his heart, took responsibility for bringing the document back. Then, the preparation time for this seemingly easy dungeon would begin.
At least, that's what Maki thought.
She still believed so until she saw Kaguya calling Takakai before he left.
"Taka-kun, do you have any plans today? If not, could you come with me to a place this afternoon?"
Maki didn't think much of this until Kaguya, who almost never invited anyone, called Takakai and suggested a joint plan of action.
"Huh? What is Oba-sama saying?"
"Yeah, do you have something planned?"
Maki's voice even rose before Takakai turned back to ask Kaguya, and she quickly blocked Takakai's way, looking at Kaguya with eyes as wary as a cat.
