A Normal Day
"Haaachimaaan~," Yuu drew out his voice like he was the main villain of a horror movie trying to find the protagonist in the climax.
'Ahh!! Hikigaya is trembling,' Miyamura was shocked as he looked at Hachiman and he understood why this was happening.
'Being the center of attention is hard for him,' Miyamura knew the reason but he also knew that Yuu was too formidable of an enemy. Miyamura only silently prayed for Hachiman.
"Hey, Miyamura did I piss him off or something?" Yuu turned to Miyamura but Hachiman still didn't turn back.
"I don't think that is the case," Miyamura smiled wryly as he couldn't understand how Yuu was oblivious to it.
Yuu took out the textbook that was placed on his seat and waved it in the air.
"Well I just wanted to give him his modern Japanese textboo- WHOOSH*," Yuu moved the textbook thwarting Hachiman's attempt to snatch the book.
"Well now you react," Yuu shook his head as Hachiman looked at him with twitching eyes.
"Get in your seats quickly," But before Hachiman could say any further the door was opened and the homeroom teacher walked inside.
'Tachibana stays undefeated,' Miyamura looked at Yuu who passed him the book so that he can give it to Hachiman who seemed to have admitted his defeat. This was a normal occurrence in Miyamura's eyes.
Hachiman opened the textbook and saw a note.
Thanks for keeping the seat for me – Yuu
'Already regretting it,' Hachiman blinked as he crumpled the note putting it under his desk.
Most of the students were already in their seats but the ones who weren't quickly sat down as the teacher walked over to her desk in front of the blackboard placing the papers in her hand.
The homeroom teacher was a tall woman with long black hair reaching her shins along with unkept bangs. She looked her part as a teacher wearing a black vest over a white dress shirt underneath along with a loose tie, and black pants.
"I am Shizuka Hiratsuka and I'll be your homeroom teacher this year, Let's take the attendance," She declared as the students nodded. Most of the students were afraid of her since there were some rumors about her formally being a teacher at a famous delinquent school in Yokohama, but she straightened out that school with her iron fist.
There are also several students who have seen her hit students she teaches here in Sobu high, But the school's governing body can't do anything about her because apparently she comes from a well-known family and has a very strong backing. So she is free to do whatever she wants.
Given her 'good' reputation the homeroom passed without any issues and the first period came which was Modern Japanese. It was a subject Hiratsuka taught herself.
"Good, looks like no one is missing the textbook or they might've gotten a little punishment," Hiratsuka smiled innocently like it wouldn't be a big deal, but the students were scared. Shizuka seemed ticked off for some reason.
'Scary, How can one sound so dangerous with a sweet smile?' Hachiman felt a chill run down his spine as he quickly opened the page that Hiratsuka mentioned and found another note.
No need to thank me – Yuu
Hachiman looked back at Yuu with a blank look and the latter smiled slightly. Miyamura tried his best to not laugh loudly, he had seen Yuu make the notes so he knew what was happening.
"Miyamura you will be reading the first page," Hiratsuka's voice froze Miyamura.
'Why do I have to read a whole page?' Miyamura was nearly in tears and he saw Hachiman snickering while looking at him.
"Hachiman you're next," Shizuka looked at Hachiman with a small innocent smile.
'I'm fucked, I am never saving a seat for you again,' Hachiman had to read for the whole class for the rest of the period.
The classes went on as the first day was halfway through as lunchtime arrived.
"Let's go out Hachiman, Miyamura," Yuu looked over at the two after taking out two lunchboxes from his bag.
"Ah, yeah," Miyamura reacted quickly as Hachiman just followed them sluggishly. The three exited the classroom and the almost silent classroom became lively again.
"I lost again, but I won't give up," Hachiman made his resolve as the three walked down the corridor.
"You'll just throw a tantrum again," Yuu sighed.
"Don't compare my rebellious spirit to a mere child's tantrum, I won't settle for your tyranny, I'll overcome it and gain my peace again," Hachiman was full of passion making his speech.
'Hikigaya what you're doing is causing the opposite effect,' Miyamura smiled wryly since the students in the corridor were looking at them with weird looks.
"Hikigaya, you should know by now that winning against him is impossible," Miyamura shook his head.
"Never giving up is my ninja way, Believe it," Hachiman spoke as Miyamura just shook his head, he knew Hachiman would simmer down in a bit.
"Don't try to slip away," Yuu said without looking back.
"This guy creeps me out sometimes," Hikigaya who was trying to slip away couldn't help but hide behind Miyamura.
'It is obvious you would try to run away,' Miyamura thought since Hachiman had tried this several times but never once did he succeed.
"Tachibana that isn't the way to the special building," Miyamura spoke up since they just went past the stairs.
"I need to run an errand by the teacher's lounge it will be quick," Yuu spoke as Hachiman sighed that was the last place he wanted to go because...
"Ohh! Yuu-kun, got my Bento?" Shizuka just happened to be on the way to the faculty office when she ran into the trio and her eyes were filled with hope.
"Yes," Yuu handed her one of the bento.
"Thank you Yuu-kun you saved me from the horror known as cafeteria food," Shizuka felt very grateful and angry at the principal since she had rushed in the morning which led to this.
"Getting a student to an errand for you and even bad-mouthing the school over a little thing, I thought you were a responsible teacher with how much you preach people Hiratsuka-sensei," Hachiman looked like he had Hiratsuka's weakness in his hands. Miyamura had seen this scene a few times and he knew where it would lead to.
"So, you two were also here?" Shizuka seemed like she had just noticed the two.
"Heh, Such childish provocations when you can't answer," Hachiman shook his head.
"No, I really didn't notice you, Which is a surprise for me as well," Shizuka was dead serious about it.
"..." Hachiman was silenced for a bit.
"Anyway, since the new school year is starting, I hope you two won't cause me any trouble," Shizuka looked at Hachiman and Miyamura.
"Why is he excluded? We are a three-man team," Hachiman pointed at Yuu who wasn't warned.
Though both Hachiman and Miyamura knew that Yuu didn't cause any problems at least not intentionally.
"Three-man team? Well given how troublesome you are, you'll probably match team 7," Shizuka shook her head.
"No, because we have Hiratsuka-sensei we'll be team 2-Hii," Hachiman was cut off as a fist just narrowly missed his face at a speed far faster than he could react to.
"I won't miss next time," Shizuka's hair fluttered like she was in a shounen manga, and her battle aura was leaking out with a dangerous glint in her eyes.
"Shizuka-nee don't try to punch students at school it gets you a bad name," Yuu looked a little worried as he moved her a little away from Hachiman.
"I wasn't going to punch him, also it is Shizuka-sensei at school," Shizuka lightly hit Yuu's head and ignored Hachiman's distrustful expression. They both knew better than anyone that the punch would've landed if Yuu wasn't around.
"Yes, Shizuka-sensei don't hit people, please?" Yuu corrected himself since he unconsciously addressed her like he normally does.
"…Ok, I won't," Shizuka pouted and admitted since it didn't seem Yuu was about to let it go now.
'Even she can't win against him,' Miyamura looked at Yuu and Shizuka.
'Though why is she cuter than all of the high school girls here? This is so wrong,' Hachiman questioned.
"Then I'll be off," Shizuka bid them farewell and entered the Teacher's lounge.
Yuu, Hachiman, and Miyamura made a quick trip to the cafeteria so Hachiman could get a yakisoba bun for himself. Then they all went to an empty classroom in the special building with all of the seats and desks piled up in the corner.
It would be alright as long as they put the chairs and desks in place without making a mess.
"Finally some peace," Hachiman looked visibly relieved.
