Who would study psychology unless they had some issues?!

Chapter 490: What They Think

Looking at the grinning friend outside the door, Nan Zhihao twitched the corner of his mouth, "When did you buy cigarettes? Come on in..."

Lu Xun once said: The end of graduate school is cigarettes and alcohol.

In a highly anxious environment that requires frequent late nights, individuals lacking self-emotional relaxation ability always need to rely on external forces to relieve stress and concentrate.

So sometimes, people find it strange that there are many people in high knowledge groups who smoke, and they all have various eccentric hobbies.

"Hiss—hoo."

Li Yanghan started exhaling smoke and said with a grin to Nan Zhihao, "Brother Nan, won't you join me for one?"

Nan Zhihao shrugged, then, almost involuntarily, twitched: "Hiss...cough, I don't have a smoking addiction, I just see cigarettes as a reserve to use when I'm in a bad mood or need to energize."

Even though he said this, Nan Zhihao still couldn't help but light one up and sat opposite Li Yanghan.

Their breathing gradually steadied.

Li Yanghan, however, caught the oddity in Nan Zhihao's actions, "What happened, Brother Nan, have you been over-exercising recently? Let me see where you're hurt, I've learned a lot of stretching techniques from my fitness coach recently...Hm?"

He chuckled, but after tugging at Nan Zhihao's clothes, his expression quickly froze.

Looking at the still unhealed wound on Nan Zhihao's shoulder, he opened his mouth, seemingly about to blurt out some question, but then held back, finally only asking, "How did this happen?"

Nan Zhihao shook his head, "A few days ago, I ran into a lunatic at the court, just bad luck."

"The court...oh." Li Yanghan took a deep breath and remained silent.

Once the cigarette burned out, Li Yanghan pinched it off and didn't take a second one, carrying on the conversation instead, "You went to court because of 'that' thing, right? I heard you've also been to Psychological Consultation recently? Has it been effective?"

Li Yanghan seemed to frequently come to Nan Zhihao to bum cigarettes and chat, so he was very familiar with Nan Zhihao's situation.

Nan Zhihao thought for a moment and nodded, "The consulting teacher there is quite professional; they taught me a psychological method that helps me focus. It's just a bit complicated to use, so these past weeks I've mainly been practicing it to simplify the process bit by bit."

"Wow, is the psychological method really that impressive?!"

Nan Zhihao nodded.

"As long as it works, is it expensive?"

"Almost ten thousand a month." Nan Zhihao thought for a moment and added, "But it's worth it."

Li Yanghan sighed, "Brother Nan, you really have the resources, there's no way I could afford consultation..."

After finishing this conversation, Li Yanghan seemed to let out half a breath, with his body slightly relaxing.

But he still held some tension, as if there was something else.

"Besides bumming cigarettes, I wanted to ask you for a favor today."

Nan Zhihao nodded, "What's up?"

Li Yanghan said, "It's about that presentation we're doing this Friday, and I signed up as a volunteer."

Nan Zhihao nodded, having just seen all this in the group chat.

"But I was too quick, and after getting the spot, I remembered I have something on Friday." Li Yanghan made a distressed face, "I asked the teacher for leave and was told I have to find my own replacement, or else my score would be docked—of course, the volunteer hours would count for the replacement."

"I thought, Brother Nan, you haven't done any volunteer work this semester, and you don't seem to have any plans recently." Li Yanghan observed Nan Zhihao's reaction.

"So I was wondering, could you help me out and be the volunteer?"

The room fell into silence for a moment.

Li Yanghan pressed his lips together, glancing at the cigarette box, suddenly feeling the urge to pull out another one.

A few breaths later.

"Alright. Friday, right?"

Hearing this answer, Li Yanghan broke into a smile, withdrawing his hand from reaching for the cigarette box.

Nan Zhihao instinctively grasped his hourglass pendant, the cold and delicate touch filling his hands, murmuring, "I really haven't been out to participate in any activities for a while, it's about time."

"Right, right." Li Yanghan nodded repeatedly at Nan Zhihao's words.

His body relaxed a bit more, like letting out another half-breath.

Yet, half a breath remained held.

So he quickly fell silent again, becoming hesitant and indecisive.

Nan Zhihao found this amusing, "Is there more? Just say it all."

Li Yanghan let out a long breath through his nose, "This matter, I've thought a lot about whether I should tell you. But, well, since I'm already here today..."

"Go ahead." Nan Zhihao was entertained for a moment.

But his smile soon faded.

Li Yanghan looked up at Nan Zhihao, "It's like this, Brother Nan, after that incident, someone deleted you from friends, right?"

"...Yes."

Nan Zhihao's expression was calm, "Back then, I wanted to use SPSS for my final project analysis, and I asked you first. You said she had the installation package, so I went to ask her for it, only to find out I'd been removed as a friend."

Nan Zhihao's face remained calm, but his voice hinted at a deliberate fluctuation, revealing some emotion: "I was quite anxious for a while, thinking the whole class had a problem with me, but then I found out she was the only one who deleted me."

Perhaps feeling that this reaction was acceptable, Li Yanghan glanced at Nan Zhihao, then continued:

"Her dorm used to hang out with ours a lot, and the other day when we went out to play again, she came to ask me about it, wondering what had happened with you back then."

"I just said you were cheated, and the teacher clarified for you, issued a safety notice, there was nothing really. But...um..."

Li Yanghan cleared his throat, as if something was stuck there.

He glanced at Nan Zhihao again, observing that he was as calm as a statue, seemingly without issue, and continued.

"Then she told me, in the video posted in the class group at the time, there were two people. She said the guy's hairstyle was just like yours, and the clothes looked like something you'd worn; the girl looked familiar, seemed like she'd seen her at our college..."

Li Yanghan cast another glance at Nan Zhihao.

He heard Nan Zhihao chuckle, then pulled out a cigarette from the box, igniting it with a "click".

Nan Zhihao raised his eyebrows forcefully, revealing an exaggerated expression, "Is that what she said?"

Li Yanghan nodded, "Yep, she said their dorm discussed it, thinking the video was real, I can't really understand, it's too absurd..."

"I just think, since it's about you, Brother Nan, you should know. Also, it's better you hear it from me than from them or someone else."
