Who Let Him Play Yu-Gi-Oh!

Chapter 254: Chapter 254: That Thing Again? (Bonus)

"Fujiki Kira is a completely unpredictable opponent," Alister muttered. "Even those so-called legendary duelists might not be this strong..."

"Of course!" Mokuba said, hands on hips.

"Looks like if I'm not careful, I'll get wiped out," Alister smiled. "My turn—draw!"

He immediately played a card.

"I activate 'Spell Books from the Pot'—both players draw three cards." (anime card)

Alister drew, his eyes flashing.

"Equip Spell 'Premature Burial'—pay 800 LP to revive a monster from my grave!"

[Alister, LP 3200 → 2400]

"I revive 'Annihilator Archfiend'!"

Annihilator Archfiend's effect: once per turn, destroy a card on each side of the field. Even revived, it's a threat.

Kira: "I activate my set card—Trap Card 'The Transmigration Prophecy'! Target 2 cards in the Graveyard; shuffle those targets into the Deck.

I return your 'Annihilator Archfiend' and my 'Lava Golem' to our decks!"

"Oh, if the target of Premature Burial returns to the deck, Premature Burial loses its target and fizzles," Mokuba exclaimed. "Nice move, Kira!"

"Not so fast," Alister said, playing another card, "Quick-Play Spell 'Mystical Space Typhoon'—destroy a spell or trap on the field."

"Huh?" Mokuba blinked. "But even if you destroy an activated trap, its effect still resolves..."

"He's not targeting 'The Transmigration Prophecy,'" Kaiba said calmly.

Indeed, Alister continued: "I'm destroying 'Amplifier'!"

"Ah!" Mokuba realized. "If Amplifier is destroyed, Jinzo's effect once again applies to both players—so..."

"'The Transmigration Prophecy' will be negated by Jinzo's effect," Kaiba explained.

"That's what you're after," Kira said. "But Amplifier also has another effect—when it leaves the field, the equipped monster is destroyed."

A black whirlwind tore up the Amplifier, and a bolt of dark lightning shattered Jinzo, who exploded and left the field.

"So by the time 'The Transmigration Prophecy' resolves, Jinzo is gone, so its effect isn't negated."

As they spoke, both Kira and Alister's graveyard zones glowed, and each card was returned to their decks and shuffled.

Alister had no choice but to take back Annihilator Archfiend and shuffle it in, causing Premature Burial to fizzle.

"Then, I use this card again," Alister said. "Quick-Play Spell 'Toy Robot Box'—discard a card to Special Summon three 'Robot Tokens'!"

[Robot Token, ATK 0] x3

"And the card I discard is 'Card of Compensation'—when sent from hand to grave, I draw two cards." (anime card)

He drew two and paused, his eyes narrowing and a slight smile appearing.

"It's been five years since I last used this power..."

Kira raised an eyebrow—

That line sounded like a boss about to appear.

"But you really are an opponent worthy of such power," Alister raised the card high. "I activate 'Sky Union'! By tributing three monsters, I Special Summon 'Air Fortress Ziggurat' from my deck!" (anime card)

Three beams of light engulfed the tokens.

"Tribute three Robot Tokens, combine into the ultimate flying fortress—

Air Fortress Ziggurat, Summon!" (anime card)

A huge shadow, like a cloud eclipsing the sun. A fortress so gigantic it dwarfed even the plane Kaiba once flew, covered in complex armor and patterns. Air currents churned beneath it in swirling vortices, as if even the clouds were being sucked in.

[Air Fortress Ziggurat, ATK 2500]

Alister's strongest anime-only ace, which he summoned in his duel with Kaiba on a plane. Its sheer size was intimidating.

"There it is—this guy again," Mokuba frowned. "I remember its effect is..."

"Unaffected by any spell or trap effects," Kaiba said, arms crossed. "It's indeed a tough monster."

"Now it's over—no matter what traps you have set, they can't stop it," Alister smiled.

Kira looked up at the massive fortress. "What a monster..."

"Air Fortress Ziggurat attacks directly!" Alister declared.

All its cannons pointed down like a row of iron beasts; energy built up and erupted in a roaring barrage.

Kira: "I activate a trap."

"MUDA," Alister interrupted. "Traps don't affect Air Fortress Ziggurat."

"I know," Kira replied, waving a card. "But I activate this—Trap Card: 'Intruder Alarm - Yellow Alert!' When my opponent declares an attack, I can Special Summon a monster from my hand to take the hit!"

He played a card.

"I Special Summon 'Doomdog Octhros' in Defense Position!"

[Doomdog Octhros, DEF 800]

"Using a defensive monster to stall for a turn, huh," Alister said. "Then I will destroy 'Doomdog Octhros'!"

The fortress's cannons fired, obliterating the Doomdog Octhros.

"Now, 'Doomdog Octhros'' effect activates."

Kira took a card from his deck.

"When this card is sent from the field to the grave, I can add a Level 8 Fiend monster from my deck to my hand."

Alister frowned.

Level 8 Fiend...

Kira smiled and revealed the card he just added.

"I add the 'Lava Golem' I shuffled back into my deck earlier to my hand."

Alister: "!?"

That thing again!?
