Chapter 323: Chapter 323: Elimination

"Offended...?"

Before Winslet could process what had happened, He Kui activated Aegis's detection system. The massive electric current seemed to have caused cardiac arrest among the intruders. If they weren't resuscitated soon, death was imminent.

But He Kui wasn't concerned—killing them was the point. They had seen his true body, and letting them leave alive was out of the question.

Still, the fact that they reached here meant there was likely support waiting below.

With that in mind, He Kui controlled Aegis to dash toward the cliff's edge.

"Wait—"

Winslet's words were cut off as the cloaked figure leaped into the sea.

"Dad, what's going on?"

Hearing gunshots, Ras quickly ran outside.

"Ras! Go back inside!"

Winslet snapped back to reality and, without hesitation, began organizing his staff to collect the bodies.

Meanwhile, He Kui piloted Aegis deeper into the ocean. The special forces wouldn't have come without a solid extraction plan. To bypass Orb's borders unnoticed for an assassination mission, a submarine was the most likely method.

Although sonar hadn't detected anything, He Kui was aware of the Mirage Colloid stealth system's capabilities. If his guess was correct…

Using sensors to analyze anomalies in the surrounding waters, He Kui quickly pinpointed his target.

The ocean wasn't like other terrains—strong water pressure weakened the effects of Mirage Colloid. Spotting an unusual signal on the radar slowly shifting direction, seemingly attempting to leave, He Kui activated Aegis's thrusters at full power.

Compared to the cumbersome submarine, Aegis was much faster. Destroying such a large submarine wasn't feasible, but He Kui didn't need to—he had the quantum virus.

By accessing the external ports of the submarine, he could execute a digital intrusion.

Inside the submarine, the crew was in chaos.

"What just happened?!"

Moments ago, their team had been wiped out, leaving everyone on edge.

"I don't know! We lost all contact! The locator devices are completely disabled!"

Before the commander could issue another order, alarms blared throughout the submarine.

"What now?!"

"An unidentified object is rapidly approaching!"

"Fire torpedoes!"

"We can't lock on—it's too close!"

Due to the submarine's reliance on a neutron jammer and Aegis's small size and high speed, by the time they detected it, Aegis was already attached to the hull.

"Apologies," He Kui muttered insincerely as he hacked into the submarine's main control system.

Cutting power and initiating an irreversible 30-second self-destruct countdown, He Kui immediately retreated, rocketing toward the surface.

As the ocean erupted with an explosive spray, Aegis returned to Winslet's estate.

"Mr. Winslet, sorry to keep you waiting."

"Um…"

"Those intruders had reinforcements, but I've dealt with them," He Kui said nonchalantly.

Winslet, however, understood the gravity of the situation. As the head of a military company, he maintained his composure.

"The men outside are all dead. Shall we discuss this inside?"

Considering the gunfire moments ago, it was clear these men were hostile. Additionally, Aegis had undoubtedly protected them.

"Sure."

He Kui followed Winslet into the reception room, where Ras was also present. The decor had grown more luxurious since his last visit, featuring more extravagant furnishings.

Seeing Aegis, Ras's serious expression gave way to surprise and joy.

"Sis!"

"Ras, long time no see," He Kui said, gently placing a hand on Ras's head.

"Mm-hmm."

"Since you're here, Aegis, let's settle our earlier agreement. This is the research funding, totaling 200 million Atlantic Federation credits."

Winslet handed over a sleek, unmarked black card, connecting it to a computer to verify its authenticity.

"Wasn't it 100 million?"

"The extra 100 million is a token of gratitude."

"Thank you."

Accepting the card and confirming its balance, He Kui nodded in satisfaction.

"Now, Aegis, why did you appear here?"

Winslet's tone carried suspicion. Aegis's timing was too convenient. One possibility was that the attack was staged by Aegis as a ruse, though that didn't explain why none of the intruders survived.

The more likely explanation was that Aegis had been monitoring them.

As a businessman, Winslet was too shrewd to believe in coincidences.

"I despise Blue Cosmos and those behind them. I won't let them succeed," He Kui said calmly.

"And who were they? They carried ZAFT-issue weapons," Winslet pressed.

"They weren't from ZAFT—they weren't Coordinators. Those weapons were likely a cover."

"If they weren't from ZAFT…"

Winslet's expression darkened further as he considered the implications.

"I believe you've already formed a theory, Mr. Winslet."

"This island isn't safe," Winslet said grimly.

Though skeptical of Aegis's words, he understood the warning was valid—these attackers likely came from the Atlantic Federation. That seemed the most plausible explanation.

No matter the case, their safety was undeniably at risk.

"Orb might not be safe either. The visit from the Deputy Foreign Minister is a clear signal."

Hearing Winslet's hesitation about leaving, He Kui sighed inwardly.

"Are you suggesting we leave Orb?"

"Just a recommendation."

"...I see. We'll consider your advice."

"

But we have our reasons for staying," Winslet added firmly. His tone suggested there was more to the situation than he could reveal.
