Who is Playing the Love Development Game in Gundam

Chapter 295: Chapter 295: Farewell to the Winslet Father and Daughter

After stabilizing the base, He Kui turned his focus back to Orb. He located the Helipolis Technical School, which technically wasn't a university but more like a specialized technical high school. In this world, however, after over a century of fierce competition and the pressures of war, institutions like this evolved into what they are today.

Due to the sharp decline in population caused by war, nations needed an increased workforce. And boosting productivity ultimately meant having people enter the workforce earlier. If everyone in a nation or the world started working even one or two years earlier, the collective value and savings generated annually would be astronomical.

However, serious academic research still required university study. With this thought, He Kui quickly located information about the Helipolis school online, discovering that although the original school was no longer based in the colony satellite, it had been relocated to Earth by Orb and was now known as the Orb Offshore Technical School.

The name itself indicated its location: on the outskirts of Orb, at a position opposite to where He Kui first entered the region.

"Big Sister!" came a familiar voice from outside the door. It was Lassie.

"Lassie, what brings you here?"

He Kui wasn't currently in the apartment Winslet had rented for him but inside the newly built research facility. This facility was still filled with crates and various high-end machines wrapped in plastic, waiting to be unpacked.

"We're heading back to the offshore island!"

"Back to the island? I thought you were living here now?"

"It's way more comfortable there!" Lassie said with a pout, her voice full of excitement. "And it's not as crowded as it is here, right, Dad?"

Winslet nodded affectionately as he patted Lassie's head.

"I see," He Kui replied with a small smile. For Lassie, who was used to living in luxury, Orb's capital must have felt quite cramped.

Without saying much else, He Kui approached the screen and pulled up the completed blueprint for the Baku Tank, displaying it for the Winslets.

"Big Sister?" Lassie blinked, slightly confused by He Kui's actions. Winslet, too, wore a curious expression, which quickly shifted to surprise and disbelief as he realized what he was looking at.

The Baku Tank—fully designed and completed. The project they assumed would take months of research had already been finished by He Kui.

"Here's the full design for the Baku Tank. Consider it my parting gift," He Kui said.

Since Orb's leadership had already caught on to his presence, there was little point in hiding. Staying in Winslet's company would only heighten the risk of exposure.

"..."

Winslet stared at the schematic in stunned silence. The lab wasn't even fully set up, and yet, this project was already done? Even with all his experience, Winslet found himself wondering if this could actually be real.

"This isn't possible, is it?" he asked himself, dazed.

"It's not as miraculous as it looks," He Kui explained, noticing Winslet's shock. "I had the idea for a while, and it just so happened that you provided me with the resources and time I needed."

Winslet sighed in relief upon hearing that. So He Kui had been working on this idea already. Even so, the young woman's talent was unmistakable. Winslet, despite his lingering doubts, felt genuinely impressed. Her skills, though mysterious, could offer his company significant benefits.

Winslet was about to voice his thoughts when Lassie suddenly grabbed He Kui's hand.

"Is this because of what happened at the party? Please don't go!" Lassie's voice was filled with a mix of sadness and determination.

"No, it has nothing to do with that," He Kui said, smiling gently. "I know you're good people, just as I said when we first met."

"But where are you going?" Lassie asked, unable to hide her disappointment.

"Somewhere farther away."

"Somewhere… in space?" Lassie's eyes lit up.

"Maybe," He Kui replied softly. "But actually, I'll be moving to the offshore island first. So we'll still see each other quite a bit."

"Really?!" Lassie's face lit up again, her sadness giving way to delight.

"Really."

The truth was, He Kui wasn't ready to leave the Winslets just yet. The island held strategic importance—Kira's school was there, and his mobile suit was hidden on a nearby island. In case of emergency, he could quickly access it.

Winslet, sensing that this was really goodbye, stepped forward to shake He Kui's hand.

"It's been an honor working with you, Miss Aegis. I wish you all the best," he said.

"Thank you."

He Kui smiled faintly as they shook hands.

"You'd better come visit me!" Lassie said, her voice full of a childlike determination.

"Of course."

"And here, I want you to have this," He Kui said, handing her a small, delicately crafted robot bird.

"What? No, I couldn't possibly—" Winslet began, but Lassie interrupted him, snatching the little bird with a bright grin.

"Thank you!" Lassie hugged He Kui tightly, pressing her face against He Kui's shoulder.

"Be safe out there, Big Sister. Take care of yourself."

Moved by her trust, He Kui hugged her back.

"I will."

Releasing her, he turned to Winslet, who looked somewhat uneasy. "This bird—should we have it inspected first?"

"No way! Big Sister would never give us anything dangerous."

He Kui really had made the bird for her as a gift, without any hidden functions or backdoors. It was a genuine token of goodwill, matching Lassie

's earnest belief in him.

It was an honest gift, one that honored the trust she'd shown him.
