Chapter 583: Forty-one Do not come back again_2
But Vic never needed his eyes to confirm identities. To him, the beastly scent emanating from these two Wildfire believers was almost overwhelming.
Yet he remained calm.
Because he was the true hunter here.
So, he waited until the two Wildfire believers were in front of the inner room, with all their attention focused on Ivana inside, before he moved from the beam.
He was quick; by the time the two Wildfire believers heard the sound, it was too late.
Vic leaped down from the beam, and as one of the Wildfire believers raised his head, it rolled to the ground amidst a flash of blade light, blood spraying like a fountain, splattering onto the other Wildfire believer.
"Bastard!" The other Wildfire believer immediately swung his axe at Vic.
This reaction surprised Vic a little.
After all, he was already so close, yet the opponent was still using a hunter's weapon instead of transforming like a typical Wildfire believer.
But Vic didn't think too much about it; he swung German the First Hunter's hunting knife, clashing it against the opponent's hand axe, sending bright sparks flying, then directly disarming the opponent of his axe!
Vic was even more surprised.
How could he be so weak?! Was this guy really a Wildfire believer?
But that scent on him... there was no mistake.
Without hesitation, Vic swung his blade again towards the opponent's chest.
With a "thud," blood blossomed from his chest, and he staggered backward two steps before collapsing straight to the ground.
"You..."
He pointed at Vic, trying to say something, but couldn't utter a word because Vic's powerful slash had opened a massive gash in his chest, almost crushing his internal organs.
And so, his head tipped to the side, and he died, not uttering a single word from beginning to end.
The battle ended just like that.
... What on earth was going on?
What were these two Wildfire believers here for?
Vic was puzzled.
But it didn't matter; the battle was over anyway.
He sheathed his blade, just about to inform the hiding Ivana in the inner room, when he inexplicably glanced once more at the fallen Wildfire believer.
The empty, crushed chest cavity.
The blood-splattered floor.
The torn hunter's clothing.
All of it suddenly pricked at Vic's brain like sharp needles, causing him to instinctively clutch his head and cry out in pain.
"Vic?!" Ivana's anxious voice came from the inner room, "Are you all right?"
"I..."
Without thinking, Vic raised his head to respond to Ivana.
Then he froze.
Because the "hunter" lying in the pool of blood was no longer that Wildfire believer, but... himself!
"Leave here, Ade."
The "Vic" in the pool of blood said softly.
"Don't come back again."
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!"
...
"Huff, huff, huff..."
Abek stared fixedly ahead.
In front of him was a "cocoon" made of countless snake-like putrid chains, and Bai Wei was beneath that cocoon.
Abek could no longer sense Bai Wei's vitality.
Meaning... he succeeded?
Abek found it hard to believe.
Just like that, he succeeded?
Had he really killed a guy with five Corpse Blocks?!
"Visas! Visas! Visas!"
"Devour him! Devour him!"
The many mouths on him began to clamor again, causing a splitting headache for Abek.
There was no more time to think about those things.
Those bastards, those vile bastards were devouring his mind!
With only one Corpse Block, he struggled to resist; he must take more Corpse Blocks from Bai Wei... now, immediately!
So his hand left the ground, and a newly formed body peeled away from the charred remains like a snake shedding its skin.
But his entire body was already covered with eyes, and all those eyes were fixed intently on Bai Wei, filled with resentment and greed.
Yet Abek didn't notice, he just kept moving forward, forward, and forward.
Almost there, I'm almost there.
Abek reached out his hand.
As long as he got there, as long as he got those five Corpse Blocks, he'd survive, and no one could harm him ever again, no one could oppose him anymore.
The twenty-plus mouths on Abek's body simultaneously broke into smiles.
Then they all froze at the same time.
Because at the moment he reached out, those putrid chains he released suddenly turned their snake-like heads, viciously biting into his own body, making him unable to move.
"Tsk tsk tsk, honestly, although I was prepared, I never thought it would be like this." A teasing voice sounded, "The combination of the Devourer and Visas' power, is truly... hideous."
Abek looked up, seeing a richly dressed man standing in front of him, looking at him with a smile.
Then came a series of piercing "thud" sounds.
Abek's body was pierced by Holy Swords thrown from every direction, pinning him in place like countless steel nails.
He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but nothing came out.
For those Holy Swords carried sealing power, even suppressing the Devourer cells within him.
How was this possible?!
"Allow me to introduce myself." The other party said with a smile, "I am Fig, the North Bishop of the Rhein Divine Sect. In the name of our Lord, I will reclaim what's in your hands that doesn't belong to you. Of course, if this unfortunately takes your life in the process, then..."
Fig paused, his smile brightened further.
"That too is what you deserve."
Abek's eyes widened to their limits.
"But who are you really?" Fig tilted his head, looking at Abek, "You're not Ulu, nor the Seven-Tone Player wanted by the Holy Sound, so... who are you?"
Abek couldn't answer.
"Seems like quite the surprise." Fig looked at the Rhein Knight standing beside Abek, "Well?"
The Rhein Knight pried open Abek's mouth.
"It's teeth." The Knight said, "His Corpse Block is teeth."
Fig laughed, "Teeth? Truly an unexpected delight, meaning at least we can recover three Corpse Blocks as a baseline."
"But he's too deeply fused with the Devourer," the Knight said, "With our current means, it's hard to separate them. We can only use the Rhein Holy Fire to burn him entirely, and then extract the teeth."
"I see." Fig showed a somewhat regretful expression, "Looks like we are destined to pay some price to claim such a big gift then."
He paused, then smiled even brighter.
"But that's okay; we've already gained much more."
Fig's words made Abek's eyes widen even further.
For Fig's words indicated that the Devourer was sent by them, meaning Abek turned out this way all because of them.
"Ugh! Ugh!"
Thinking of this, the desperate Abek struggled fiercely, trying to break free from these bonds and desperately fight Fig before him.
But under the suppression of the Rhein Holy Swords, even the cells of the Devourer couldn't move, let alone him.
"I can probably guess what you want to say." Fig said with a smile, "But unfortunately, you can't say anything."
Saying so, a pure white flame, seemingly capable of purifying everything, welled up from Fig's palm.
"You took what you shouldn't have." Fig said slowly, "So repent to my Lord after purification and seek forgiveness."
Abek, with wide-open eyes, watched as the Rhein Holy Fire in Fig's hand slowly moved toward him, like the scythe of death descending slowly.
"This tooth, I will take." Fig said softly.
But just as the flame was about to spread onto Abek, he suddenly heard a crisp, pleasant snap... snapping of fingers.
The majestic, slaughter-laden flame instantly extinguished like a candle flame, ceasing to exist.
And along with it, the many Holy Swords piercing Abek disappeared as well.
In an instant, all restraints on Abek vanished.
And Fig's hand was already reaching towards Abek.
