Who hid My Corpse!

Chapter 580: 40

"What is this place?" Vic looked at the house in front of him, somewhat puzzled, and asked, "Is this the Hunter Statue of Blood Healing?"

"No, it isn't." Ivana shook her head and said, "This is the Heroic Spirit Hall."

"...Heroic Spirit Hall?"

"Yes." Ivana explained, "Grandmother told me that when the God of Senluo was still alive, hunters couldn't immediately pray to the God after passing through the Temples of Courage and Trust. They needed to first register in the Heroic Spirit Hall."

"Register in the Heroic Spirit Hall? Why is that?"

Ivana thought for a moment and said, "You could understand it as presenting your name to the God of Senluo. After all, the God needs to know who you are before blessing you with power. Of course, that's just one interpretation. Another is that after enduring the trials of Courage and Trust, most hunters were exhausted. Praying directly at that point wouldn't be appropriate, so the Heroic Spirit Hall was a place where they could rest and regain their composure."

"I see, but..." Vic was still somewhat confused, "Why do we need to come here? Shouldn't we head directly to the Blood Healing Hunter Statue?"

"Do you remember what I said before?" Ivana said, "Since you haven't acquired the Blood Healing skill, either something happened to you along the way or there's an issue with the Blood Healing Statue. Either scenario suggests our journey is not safe. We need some means of self-protection in case we truly encounter danger."

Vic looked enlightened, once again glancing at the Heroic Spirit Hall in front of him: "Do you mean there's something inside here that can help us protect ourselves? Weapons?"

"Not just weapons." Ivana placed her hand on the door, then raised her eyebrows at Vic with a rather smug expression, "Come on, you'll be amazed..."

Saying that, Ivana pushed the door open.

As with the previous two temples, dust immediately billowed out upon opening the door, covering Ivana and Vic's faces as they were unprepared.

"Cough, cough, cough..." Vic closed his eyes from the dust and started coughing, "There's way too much dust, Holy Lady."

He opened his eyes, only to be stunned.

Because what lay before him was no longer Ivana and the Heroic Spirit Hall, but a sky filled with swirling yellow sand.

Beneath the yellow sand were endless skeletons, both of humans and beasts.

They wore the adornments of hunters, and beside them lay weapons belonged to hunters as well, but all had been damaged over time.

In the distance, the sounds of shouting and killing could be heard.

Vic lifted his head and looked toward the far horizon.

At the edge of his vision, he saw countless hunters and hounds in battle.

Vic couldn't see who they were fighting, only witnessing them falling one by one like harvested wheat, turning into bones beneath the yellow sand.

"This is the future He desires." A familiar voice rang near his ear again, "Do you wish to see such a future?"

Vic opened his mouth, but before he could speak, he felt someone shaking his shoulders intensely.

The whistling wind was replaced by the slightly anxious call of a young woman.

"Vic! Vic!"

Vic blinked.

The yellow sand and bones vanished, leaving Ivana and the Heroic Spirit Hall in front of him.

"Holy Lady?"

Seeing Vic return to normal, Ivana sighed with relief and then nervously asked, "What happened? Did you remember something again? Have you been here before?"

"I..." Vic scratched his head, "I remembered something strange."

"Something strange?"

Vic quickly relayed to Ivana what he had just seen and heard.

After listening, Ivana frowned deeply.

"Strange, very strange." She murmured, "From your description, those deceased seemed like the hunters and hounds of Senluo, but in Senluo's history, there shouldn't be such battles. Hunters are meant to fight against death and abnormalities."

"The voice spoke of the future." Vic reminded, "It's the future 'He' desires."

"When 'He' is referred to, it can only mean the God of Senluo, but why would the God desire such a future?" Ivana thought for a while before focusing on Vic, "And more importantly, what exactly is inside your head? This doesn't seem like your memory, is it that Saint?"

"It should be." Vic said softly, "Since coming here, I've occasionally heard him speaking to me. Before, it was vague and quickly forgotten, but this time... it was very clear."

Ivana saw the anxiety and fear in Vic's eyes.

She knew he feared being devoured by the Saint, feared losing himself.

So what could she do? Comfort him well?

Ivana thought for a moment and quickly had an idea.

"Don't dwell on it too much." She turned around and swiftly entered the Heroic Spirit Hall, "Come with me, we still have important things to do."

Hearing Ivana say this, Vic shook his head and told himself not to think too much, then quickly followed her in.

Once inside, Vic realized that the building read as Heroic Spirit Hall but spelled Armory.

He saw a variety of standard hunter equipment hanging on the walls — the Serrated Knife used by Bai Wei, the Long-handle Scythe used by Ryan, a staff that could be wielded as a long whip, and an extremely compact Hand Crossbow.

Every piece of equipment he had read about in books could be found here in actual form!
