Chapter 527: 13 Devourer (7K)_4
The horror of a fully transformed and mindless Lauren is something no one knows better than his subordinates.
As expected, after unleashing an indiscriminate [Spirit Shock], Lauren once again charged at Bai Wei.
In his eyes, there was only Bai Wei.
Anyone standing in his way would be ruthlessly torn apart by him.
The Wildfire believers also realized this, scrambling away like birds and beasts, trying to distance themselves from this old priest of Rhein.
But unfortunately, this cunning old priest kept following them, sticking closely.
"You damn old bastard..."
The curse was cut short, as Lauren swiftly took someone away with a swipe, and Bai Wei dashed toward the next person, his [Magic Chains] serving as the perfect displacement tool, allowing him to easily weave through the believers.
To the believers, Bai Wei was like death itself; whenever he approached, they would scream in terror.
"Stay away from me!"
Then, unmercifully, Lauren would claim their lives.
Eventually, the believers realized that merely running away would only get them picked off one by one by the crazed Lauren, so with gritted teeth, they too fully transformed into wolves.
Going mad was better than being helplessly slaughtered. At least, that's what they thought.
However, fully transforming also varied in strength; in the face of the completely mad Lauren, their transformation was like turning from small helpless wastes into slightly bigger wastes that could only block him for a few seconds.
But those few seconds were exactly what Bai Wei needed.
He watched Lauren weave through the flying flesh and blood, ever approaching, narrowing his eyes slightly while counting down in his head.
"Three."
"Two."
"Swish."
The final Wildfire believer standing in Bai Wei's way was split in two, as Lauren's enormous claw once again lunged at Bai Wei.
But this time, Bai Wei didn't back down; instead, he charged forward, meeting Lauren's claw head-on, embarking on a two-way pursuit.
This maneuver left even the near-mindless Lauren slightly puzzled, unsure why Bai Wei would do such a thing.
But it didn't matter now. The remnants of his sanity were not enough for reasoning; he only knew how to kill, kill, kill.
The confusion in his four eyes quickly faded, replaced only by endless killing intent.
And Bai Wei continued to close the distance with him.
His figure rapidly enlarged in Lauren's four ghostly blue giant pupils, becoming ever clearer.
Then Bai Wei used Lauren's eyes as a mirror, seeing behind him.
The gaping fangs.
"Swish!"
"Crack!"
[Magic Chains] and [Overload] were used simultaneously.
Bai Wei once again pushed his body to the limit before repositioning himself right behind Lauren using the [Magic Chains], nearly face to face.
And Lauren collided with those wide-open fangs.
Then came the sound of flesh being separated.
In just a moment, Lauren, who had been wreaking havoc for a long time, lost a third of his body.
And Bai Wei successfully landed, standing up straight, looking at those two shadows that almost instantly killed Lauren.
"Devourers, huh," Bai Wei murmured softly, "Rhein is quite willing to pay a price."
As Bai Wei spoke, the two shadows slowly rose.
At a first glance, they looked like extremely malnourished people, so emaciated that their skin seemed to barely contain their bones, and their eyes were covered with bloodstained gauze, revealing only their noses and mouths.
In those open mouths were fangs like steel nails, impossible for humans to possess.
Bits of flesh and hair were caught between these fangs.
This was Lauren's body.
They were chewing on Lauren.
Then Bai Wei heard heavy footsteps.
He looked up to see several Rhein Knights in heavy armor approaching, their entire bodies bathed in Holy Light that Corpse Ghosts couldn't draw near.
In this extreme darkness, they seemed like envoys descending from a Divine Country.
But ultimately, they stopped next to the Devourers, and at that moment, angels and demons seemed to become one.
"Ulu, you killed Bishop Corey and stole the Church Holy Relics, committing a crime worthy of death," the leading knight slowly pronounced, like delivering a judgment, "You have nowhere to run."
Bai Wei remained silent, just looking at them.
At this distance, the Rhein Knights finally got a clear look at Bai Wei's face.
They frowned slightly.
"This guy... is he Ulu?"
"He seems... not like him."
One knight took out a portrait, compared it carefully, then shook his head.
"No, he's not."
A knight was surprised, "…Then who is he?"
No one could answer because Bai Wei's face was indeed unfamiliar.
But...
The Devourers beside them could hardly contain themselves, like hungry dogs smelling meat, casting greedy "glances" at Bai Wei.
So the knight fell silent for a moment, then shook his head, "It's not important anymore."
Hearing this, Bai Wei couldn't help but laugh.
"It's not important anymore?" he said, "You don't even know who I am, yet you're still going to pass judgment on me?"
"We just need to know you're a heretic, that's enough," the knight said calmly, picking up a shaking bell, "We don't need to reason with heretics."
Before the bell could ring, the two Devourers already reacted.
Bai Wei chuckled, "I can only say, you're exactly the annoying bunch I know, even bringing Devourers here, you really don't treat the people here as humans."
"...You actually know about the Devourers," the knight squinted slightly, "As expected, even if you're not Ulu, you're a traitor to Rhein."
"And not an ordinary traitor," another knight said coldly, "For someone like you, we naturally impose the most severe judgment."
With that, he raised the shaking bell.
But before he could ring it, he saw Bai Wei pull out a small object.
They focused their gaze, discovering it was a music box.
Music box?
The Rhein Knights found it strange, as they felt no magic power fluctuations from the music box.
However, to be safe, no matter what it was, they didn't intend to let Bai Wei act first.
Hence, they rang the bell.
In the next second, a giant wolf "boom" leapt out from behind them.
"…When did it get here?!"
They were astonished but not much afraid.
Because they were bathed in Holy Light, a power of Divine Arts, protection from the Rhein God.
Only divine powers could break divine powers.
They thought so.
Then the giant wolf raised its paw.
Instantly, it split the knight with the shaking bell, along with the holy barrier, in two.
Blood splattered onto another knight, finally changing his expression.
And this giant wolf… was Vic!
