Chapter 440: 66 Principal's Invitation
"Is this all right, Miss Hevnia?" Molly looked at the two books that Hevnia was holding in her arms. "Do you only need me to help you borrow a book?"
"Yes," Hevnia shrugged and then smiled, "I've always loved snuggling in my room with a book, preferably in pajamas, lying in bed, with snacks to my right and a pile of books to my left. It makes me so happy... Ah, sorry, is my hobby a bit too peculiar?"
"How could it be!" Molly's eyes shined. "Your description is so vivid, I totally understand how you feel, is it like, um..."
She couldn't find the words herself.
"The feeling that knowledge is at your fingertips," Hevnia added, "especially when there are more books piled up, it really feels wonderful."
She sighed as she spoke.
"It's a pity, though, that even using your book card, I could only borrow two books. It's far from enough to make a pile, the experience is severely diminished."
"How could that be?!" Molly exclaimed, waving a fist. "Leave this little matter to me."
"Hmm?" Hevnia inquired, "Can you really help me borrow more books? But the library's rules..."
"Indeed, one person may only borrow one book," Molly said with a smile. "But I can borrow book cards from others. I have many friends."
"Really?!" Hevnia's eyes brightened with joy, but then she quickly became concerned. "But wouldn't that be inappropriate since you would be borrowing them for me? What if I were to damage the books..."
"That'd be my problem," Molly patted her chest, "Don't worry, Miss Hevnia, if there's any issue at all, you can just blame it on me. It would be just a minor punishment."
"How can I allow that?" Hevnia raised an eyebrow. "Do you think I'm that kind of person?"
"Um..."
"Don't worry, if you really manage to borrow them for me, I'll take good care of them." Hevnia raised three fingers. "I swear! I won't let a good friend suffer."
Hearing the words "good friend," Molly smiled even more joyfully.
The library of the First Academy was stricter than those of the Three Colleges; each student could only borrow one book, and any issue with the book would be the responsibility of the student who registered it.
But it was strict, though not too strict, since one could borrow multiple books with several book cards.
"Don't worry, Miss Hevnia!" Molly said, "Tomorrow morning I will secure at least ten book cards for you, surely satisfying your desire! Just leave it to me."
With that, she left with joy and haste.
It was all just to help Hevnia with this "little" favor.
After Molly left, Hevnia did not head back to the dorm immediately but took a detour to the academy's rental center and rented a new owl.
Then, holding the books in one hand and the owl in the other, she returned to the dorm.
As she stepped out of the teaching building and into a less crowded walkway, Bai Wei's voice echoed in her mind.
"Initially, I thought you wanted to use these books to gather some information or learn a new Chorus Magic. Now it seems that's not the case," Bai Wei said. "Are you trying to find a way to heal that child?"
The "child" Bai Wei mentioned was naturally Ogg.
"Can you actually deduce that?"
"After all, we share a vision; I can see every book you're looking for," Bai Wei chuckled. "And this owl, too obvious. You want to establish contact with him, bypassing the Hailuo Family, am I right?"
Hevnia did not reply, but she tacitly acknowledged Bai Wei's statement.
"You're quite anxious, Hevnia," Bai Wei said. "Considering all you have on your plate already, do you really have the energy to help him?"
"If you dislike it," Hevnia responded, "I can stop."
"Why would I interfere? It's your freedom," Bai Wei laughed. "I just think you're in a rush to finish everything, as if... you already know you'll die at this event."
"...I remember you said I won't live long."
"Compared to normal people, that's true," Bai Wei remarked. "After all, you've used my power too many times, and the process is irreversible. You know it. But I never said you'd die at this event. If you do as I say, you could live at least another ten years or so. By then, you'd have seven notes on your body. Extending your life could still be possible."
Hevnia fell silent for a moment, then said, "Mr. Visas, I still don't know what it is you actually want me to do. Do you need me to play the Seven Notes·Divine Song to obtain the Holy Sound Master's wish as well?"
"Heh, I don't recall ever saying I wanted to obtain the Holy Sound Master's wish," Bai Wei laughed. "I just want you to play the Seven Notes·Divine Song."
"...Is there a difference?"
"Of course, there's a difference... hm, it seems I never really told you what I truly want," Bai Wei leisurely expressed. "I guess I can tell you now. The Holy Sound Master took part of my body and sealed it using a potent method. The condition to break the seal is to play a certain Divine Song."
