57. Brook
Brook finaly stopped his act after he saw more and more black line appeared on Enel's forehead clearly feeling unamused.
clearing his throathless voice Brook regained his regal composure, "Cough*, please don't feel upset, it was just a skeleton joke, yes, un, skelejoke Yohohohoho!"
Enel shook his head clearly doesn't want to see anymore of Brook's joke. He strode around leaving the skeleton behind and once again examined the old ship trying to find anything with some value.
While Enel walking around the ship, Brook returned to his barrel and sat on it, he then reached inside his ribcage under the suit and took an old violin out from there.
Despite being old, the violin was still complete with its strings, looked unblemished, and in pristine condition, plucking its strings gently Brook put the violin in its position and started to play.
soon enough, a cheerful melody could be heard by Enel who stroll in lower deck of the dilapidated ship.
"Bink's Sake?" murmured Enel as he heard Brook playing a rather famous song amongst pirates of old.
A song which had an unknown origin, telling about the happines and lifting the spirits to those who sing it. It had been passed down from every generation of pirates until now, and for those who had a keener mind, the song actualy gave another hints, it indicates an existence of a certain pirates in the past and their adventure.
as Brook continue to sing the song, Enel found some old parchment laying around on the lower deck and as he took it, he saw it was an old bounty poster which had been turned yellow due to passage of time.
"So, you're a pirate huh? Brook?" Mumured Enel when he saw the poster.
shaking his head, Enel cast away the poster as he continue to walk deeper. He also found a cofin with unblemished appearance, the surface was black and smooth indicating that Brook took care of it in regular intervals.
When he checked inside the cofin, Enel found several human skulls along with its skeleton nestled neatly inside the cofin, seeing the skulls, Enel sighed once more as he thought, maybe they were once Brook's crew in the past.
time passed,
At night, two individuals sat opposite each other, their faces glowing with gentle light coming from bonfire placed between them.
"It has been so long since i enjoyed some food..." Said Brook, his voice tinged with nostalgia.
Biting meat on his skewer, Enel responded, "Well, enjoy it while it last..."
"Yohohoho..." Brook laughed as he ate his skewer, Enel couldn't help but wonder, where does the food gone into after seeing the skeleton man eat with hearthy laugh.
If someone approach their broken ship, they could see a carcass of giant squid which Enel hunted earlier in afternoon drifting along beside the ship.
Enel and Brook, the two unlikely individual to meet actualy had a chance to share a meal in the middle of Florian Triangle.
After finishing their humble meal, Enel laid down sideways on the deck leisurely, hand proped his cheek and looking at Brook who took out his aged violin once again, soon a calm and gentle melody accompanied the ship in the middle of the night.
"You sure like to play music huh?" Enel asked, he doesn't mind Brook playing music. Besides, Brook music was pleasant to hear.
Brook chuckled, "Yohohoho, once my crew were consisted mostly with musician..."
"You mean the remains inside the cofin on the deck below?" Asked Enel.
Brook kept playing the music as he nodded gently, sensing the living skeleton's melancholy, Enel tried to change the topic,
"Hmm, so? Why do you look like this? No offense, seeing living skeleton who could play music, it's my first time."
Still playing the soothing melody, Brook answered calmly, "I was once a man, the reason of my body turned into this was because i ate devil fruit..."
"Figures..."
not minding Enel, Brook told him his story which was heartfull yet funny at the same time. Telling him about his Pirates group, the Rumbar, Eating Yomi-Yomi no Mi(Revive Fruit) and his ressurection which Enel found hilarious.
Despite Brook telling Enel his story with cheerful attitude, he still couldn't conceal the deep melancholy and sadness from his tone.
"Yahahaha, you got lost when you wanted to revive? and only finding your body after it turned into skeleton?"
"Yohohoho, indeed. Florian Triangle is too tricky to travel to begin with, Well, despite my appearance right now, i'm thankful that i got a second chance to live..." Brook paused slightly,
Enel nodded thoughtfuly, "You're right, second chance is hard to come by."
Brook suddenly had a flash of memories,
"...come to think of it, while i was looking for my ship, i think i once saw a rather intriguing tree somewhere inside the Florian Triangle..."
"Tree?" Enel was intrigued, Florian Triangle was no man's zone. It was so mysterious that no one knew what inside it and how it had appeared.
Brook nodded, "Yeah, but i only saw its huge canophy emerged from underwater, as for the rest of its body, it seems submerged. Well, it was only silhouette for brief moment, but i'm pretty sure there was such tree in here."
Brook finished his reiteration as Enel was seen contemplated.
"So? After hearing my story as a pirate, do you want to arrest me?" Teased Brook, as he already knew about the identity of the man laying leisurely across the bonfire, the huge Marine seagull tatoo on Enel's back was too eye catching to ignore.
