In between their walks, Kimimaro attempted to distract Vegapunk by opening a conversation,

"Doctor, I've read your recent thesis about 'GP Flower and its application'." 

Vegapunk startled by Kimimaro sudden approach, however, he soon turned toward the young Marine Admiral in astonishment, 

"Realy?" He asked a little sceptical in his tone.

Kimimaro smiled as he begun to chat, "GP Flower, it has the ability to turn gunpowder into flower when ignited. When the war happened, instead of bullet, the gun will spill out flower and make it harmless." 

"Then, what do you think about it?" Vegapunk interest piqued as he lean closer to Kimimaro.

"I found it intriguing, Doctor. also...." 

Kimimaro and Vegapunk began to exchange conversation forgetting about awful scenery regarding Celestial Dragons along the way toward Mary Geoise's main gate.

On the way toward Mary Geoise main gate, Kimimaro and Vegapunk walked side by side while engaging in scientific talk with the topic about the Doctor's recent invention or earlier ones.

"...And so, due to my Devil Fruit, i can control and manipulate my own skeletal structure as a means of combat. Specifically, it allowed me to manipulate my osteoblast and osteoclast cells. That gives me a freedom to build or breaking down bone tissue. I'm in absolute control over the concentration of calcium within my own bones, allowing me to adjust the density or malleability of them." Kimimaro talked calmly giving the Doctor some insight at his own devil fruit ability.

Vegapunk's eyes glimmered with interest, typical for any scentist about the subject, "I see, fascinating. Say, Kimimaro-san..." 

"Just Kimimaro is fine Doctor." Kimimaro interrupts the Doctor with a smile.

"Hahaha, okay then, just call me Vegapunk! I see our age were not too far apart. I'm only 36 this year!" Laughed Vegapunk. 

"Hahaha, that is an honor, but, i'l just stick with Doctor to call you." Denied Kimimaro gently.

Vegapunk sighed, but soon he began to ask more question regarding Kimimaro's devil fruit ability, talking about unique and new things were always a pleasure for the scientist. Besides, Kimimaro was making it easy for him to get along to.

"I wrote a thesis about Lineage Factor not long ago, and knowing what kind of ability human being could get from those Devil Fruit always amaze me!" 

Suddenly, Kimimaro quoted out loud, 

"All lifeforms have the Lineage Factor, and by manipulating it from a young age, the growth of a lifeform can be changed. Eating a Devil Fruit affects one's Lineage Factor, which allows them to gain a supernatural power." 

The Doctor paused on his track hearing his Thesis introduction coming out from young Marine besides him.

"Doctor?" Kimimaro asked seeing Vegapunk's eyes were focused on him. 

All of sudden, the doctor laughed merrily! He feels so happy that there was someone who has the same interest as him other than fellow scientists! 

"Sorry, Kimimaro, yeah, yeah! That's right! That's my thesis! So, you read those too?" 

"I did doctor, your work with Vinsmoke Judge just too mind blowing for me and especially the world" 

Hearing Kimimaro mentioned about his old colleague, Vegapunk's mood turned down a notch, Kimimaro also felt something, so he apologized,

"I'm sorry Doctor, it seems your relationship with your old colleague wasn't in your best interest?" 

Vegapunk shook his head and began to walk once more, he spoke slowly trying to hide his disappointment, "It's okay, we also had a great time working together. alas, it seems they have different goal than mine. But! It's okay, the past is the past, you can't lament on it forever right?"
