Whispers from the Abyss

Chapter 6: Knowledge Of The Abyss

Luke was in awe of the sea of knowledge, still not having any words he thought were excellent enough to describe this otherworldly sea of knowledge. Luke never noticed the first time he came here, that he couldn't see the end of the sea. Luke took a few more minutes standing still, admiring the sea of knowledge, and then he started to get to work looking for the limited amounts of knowledge he needed.

Luke looked for what felt like ages. He didn't think that there would have been this many bubbles with 1% of their knowledge left. After looking for another 30 minutes, Luke found the knowledge of what beings lived in the abyss. Luke put out his hand to grab the bubble floating out of the sea. Once Luke's hand grasped the bubble, he was dragged into the space with the information. The text went on and on with more information after information, but Luke knew he must learn what that being was talking about to survive. Luke started to read the information but got sidetracked with his thoughts: "Wait a minute, wasn't I trying to do my best to get away from all this nonsense?" Luke thought back on his day and realized that he seemed to be acting a whole bunch more cold and distant. Luke remembered how he just ignored what Mr. Shaw had been saying and mocked him. This wasn't like him at all, Luke thought. This freaked Luke out, not knowing what was causing this change in him, and he knew that this change must be why he believed what that being was saying. Luke decided to put this thought to the back of his head and think about it later, as right now Luke desperately needed to get as much information as possible in the limited time he had left to heighten his chance of survival.

Luke started to‌ read the knowledge of the beings living in the abyss, "Throughout the abyss's existence, there have been many different species of abyssal creatures. There is no set name for the uncountable number of species in the abyss. There are no set names for the evolved creatures in the abyss; instead, each civilization has to decide on their own names for the species. (Click to expand the list of species names.)" Luke clicked the expand button, and a list dropped down that went on forever. Luke decided to read a few of the creature listings,

Ugrudek: This species is defined by its large stature and its three large horns on its head. Their skin is a dark purple, littered with cracks all over. The signature power of this creature is using the curse aspect of abyss energy to weaken its enemy's physical strength, then using its large stature to beat down the weakened opponent. -|-|-;|} /-\-|-|-;}|-; |o|/=-|-o}|oɛ ()/-\|\|ɛ }o}o|-/ɛ-//-\/' o}/-\}-/o||_]|ɛ |_;/-\}o||-;/'ɛ|_]||o/-\}/'|

Nahkeshnx: This species is defined by its small stature, which it uses to hide from enemies. Their main choice of weapons is the dagger-like blades they have for hands, perfect for assassinations, which they were most known for. The signature power of this creature is to use the void aspect of abyss energy to hide and sneak behind enemy lines to assassinate key figures. |_]-//-\}/=o||_]|

Tonhin, The Provoker: Dangerous: This being is not to be provoked. A very mysterious being, /-\}/'o|/=|-;/-\}| /-\}|_]|/=|-;/-\}|}|-;/'/=|o /'/'|oo|/= \/}o}|-;|-;/'/= \/}o||<|-;/'}|-;/'/= \/|_|<. /=o}}o||/-\/= o}/=|-;}o|\/ /=/'|-;o|-//=o} -/}o||_]/=/=o}|< }o||_]||-;/=o||-;/=o} }o|-/|-;|_]-//-\|< |_]o}o|}/-\o|-/. /=o}|-;|_||_]}o||o|/=o}|_ |_]-/}o|o}o||-;/=\/}o||-;/'/=|o\/,}o||-;|

Luke never expected that the abyss' energy could be used for such unimaginable things. Luke didn't know what this corrupted text was, but he assumed it was due to the fact that only 1% of the knowledge was left. Tonhin, The Provoker stood out to Luke because it was the only unique one on the list; he saw, that no other one had a title like this one. Luke first noticed the dangerous label on the being's description. Luke didn't seem to notice that now there was an extra pair of eyes watching him, after thinking of Tonhin, The Provoker. Luke now had an idea of what the statue meant by We. Luke knew that those beings like Tonhin, The Provoker, must be watching him. The next moment, Luke got kicked out of the sea of knowledge and returned to his room, in his bed.

Luke took a second to organize the new information he had in his mind. After Luke got everything all together, he wanted to plan for the days to come, but he remembered that he wanted to figure out why he had been changing and acting more distant from others. As soon as Luke started to think and try to figure out what changed his dad, Clyde barged into his room, ready to yell up a storm again: "Luke, after what you did during the car ride, I've decided to ground you! You can't leave your room beside to go to school for the next month." Luke instantly dropped down, not knowing what he could do about this and honestly not caring. Once Clyde saw that Luke didn't react to his punishment at all, he left and went back downstairs. Luke went back to his thoughts on why he seemed to not care, like just now with the punishment his dad gave him.

Luke thought back to when he was in the abyss and how he seemed to change into some sort of half-abyss lifeform thingy, half-human. Luke had a feeling that this transformation had something to do with his most recent change, but he had no way to determine if that was true. Luke decides to throw this to the back of his head as he couldn't do anything about it at this moment and instead work on his plan for whatever the upcoming situation is…
