Whispers from the Abyss

Chapter 34 - Awoken

Detective Smith awoke in what he thought was heaven. His entire surroundings were all white with no impurities. Trying to stand up caused Detective Smith's whole body to jolt with pain. “I would stay laying down if I were you,” spoke a voice from the corner. “Who are you? Where am I? Is this heaven?” Detective Smith asked, confused. In response to his questions, the voice in the corner started chuckling and told Detective Smith "No, of course not. Heaven is a lot different than you would imagine. No, this is the infirmary of our organization, The Hidden Truth.” After the voice finished speaking, Detective Smith saw a young girl come out of the corner, all dressed in white. Detective Smith was annoyed that this little girl was laughing at him, but he put that aside to ask what the hell was the hidden truth. “Is that your little club? Where are the doctors?” The little girl let out a sigh and whispered, “Why does every newcomer say the same thing?” Once she got over Detective Smith, assuming she was a child, the young-looking girl introduced herself, “I am Merabel. All you need to know about me for the time being is that I'm powerful, and I'm the one who is your teacher from now on.” After finishing her little speech, Marabel disappeared from Detective Smith's view.

Shortly after Marabel disappeared, another mage walked through the door. Detective Smith wanted to know what was going on and who was just in his room. So he asked the mage, “Where am I? The little girl who was just in here told me something crazy. She said she was a mage and that this was the infirmary of The Hidden Truth. Whatever that means." The mage chuckled and told detective Smith, "No, that little girl, as you put it, was telling the truth. This is our infirmary for our organization, The Hidden Truth. Now if I were you, Mr. James Smith, I would listen very closely. Hidden behind the eyes of mortals exists a terrifying world. That world is the magical world spread throughout the realms. Our organization's goal is to keep that hidden from mortals and let them live a peaceful life, but due to other realm interference, we can't always do that. That's when we invite the affected party to join our cause. Now will you join us, James Smith?” James was freaking out. How did they know his full name? What was this cult-like place? I need to get out. James tried to stand up again but still couldn't manage to. James yelled, “You guys are crazy! Let me go right now! Im a detective. Someone will come looking for me.” The mage ignored James and started to administer one of the healing potion. After the mage forced James to drink the healing potion, he started to freak out and scream, “AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!” The mage looked like they were getting sick of dealing with James, so they cast a spell.

James collapsed, falling asleep instantly after the mage used the spell on him.

James awoke once again, but this time he wasn't in the white room. His surroundings were all black this time. Out of nowhere, a ball of light appeared, blinding James. The ball of light spoke to James in an angelic voice, “My name is Humility. I am the leader of the seven virtues and also your past life. Im appearing before you because our soul is still tasked with the mission of destroying the seven deadly sins. Our master, the harmony realms, will task us with the mission due to the restaining effects the sin and virtues have on each other. I, along with the six other virtues, will guide you along your journey in magic, helping you grow step by step. Now do you have any questions?” “No way this can’t be real. I must be going crazy." James thought. Humility heard James though and assured him he wasn’t crazy. Seeing as how he was stuck here, James decided to go along with Humility for the time being. Seeing James was on board, Humility was ecstatic. “Good! Now boy, this might sting a little, but I want you to witness a fraction of the harm that the seven deadly sins have caused.” Once they finished their words, James vision got taken over by the blinding lights again. The light caused James eyes to burn like his eyes themselves were on fire. The light disappeared after a few seconds, but it felt like a day to James. With his vision back, James noticed his surroundings changed. Now James was in the center of what appeared to be a medieval century village. Out of nowhere, the sky ripped open and out marched unspeakable horrors. Along with the creatures coming out of the portal was an eerie otherworldly black mixed with purple magical energy. Everywhere this magical energy touched was corrupted, turning that area into the abyss. James vision went bright again, and this time he was still in the same place, only viewing three days in the future. The area was almost unrecognizable. The only reason James could tell he was still viewing the same area was the landscape still being the same. Instead of the vibrant green it was before, it was all dark and gloomy, with only the occasional purple stand appearing in the air. James was freaking out from what he just saw. James mind was racing trying to think of what was going on. The only explanation James thought made sense was that he went crazy. The light flashed in James vision again. Once the light disappeared, James found himself back in the same dark area with Humility right in front of him. Humility gave James another minute to process what he just saw. After the minute was up, Humility spoke, “Has your mind settled? Are you ready to proceed and listen to me now?”
