Whispers from the Abyss

Luke finished casting Soul Drainer, absorbing the hunter's soul. The hunter, instantly collapsed onto the floor. His wife came, rushing over to see what was wrong. The wife reached for the hunter but noticed he wasn't breathing, so she screamed bloody murder, “NOOOOOOOOOOO! What happened to you?” While she was screaming, Luke finished casting another round of Soul Drainer. Luke felt physically refreshed and stronger than before, but mentally, Luke felt the drain from the cast of Soul Drainer twice. The hunter's wife collapsed to the ground, right next to her husband.

Luke wanted to rest up and mentally recover from casting the spell. After one hour of resting, Luke was interrupted by a knock at the door. Another knock came ten seconds later, along with a man outside the door asking, “Are you alright, Mark and Kate? We haven't heard from you since you said you found that unknown person.” Luke was panicking. He didn't know what to do. After a few more seconds of not answering, Luke heard the man say, “I'm coming in to make sure you're okay!" Luke shot up and started to look for somewhere to hide. Luke heard the door knob start to turn. The door opens to an open area devoid of anyone alive. The man walked into the house, looking for Mark and Kate. The man instantly noticed the dead bodies of Mark and Kate. Rushing over to check on them, the man reached down to check their pulses. Not noticing, Luke was slowly coming out of the shadows in the corner that the man couldn’t see on his way in. Slowly creeping up behind the man, Luke started to cast flames from the depths to burn the man and start a fire to completely burn down the house and all the evidence of his evil doings. Once Luke saw that the house had started to catch fire, he set out from ShadowGrove into the forest to the east in hopes of finding a proper city.

A week later

Luke had been wondering about this forest without finding any hints of civilization. Trying to survive in the forest was hard for Luke, even after the short time spent living in a cave. Living in this forest was a lot more challenging due to Luke having to forage for his own food. This was the first time Luke had ever had to find his own food because, even when he lived in the cave, he stole food from a supermarket. Trying to survive in this new realm was even harder due to all the unknown flora and fauna Luke kept discovering. During the week Luke survived in the forest, he encountered a lot of unknown plants and animals, and in order to remember them all, Luke started to write an encyclopedia named “The Abyssal Archive.”

The Unseen Abyss is the pseudonym Luke chose for himself. The encyclopedia would have all the discovered flora and fauna Luke found on his journey across the realms. The name Abyssal Archive is just a way to show where Luke started his journey. When Luke first started to write this encyclopedia, the core inside his body came to life and said, “A new book written by the host detected. Does the host want the core to record the written book in the core library?” Luke was shocked to find a new function in the core. Curious Luke asked the core, “Can you only scan books written by me, or are you able to do it with any new book?” The core responds, "Yes, host." Leaving it off with that and turning back off to power-saving mode, but leaving Luke with one last piece of advice, “Repair the core as soon as possible; you won't regret it.” After hearing that, Luke wanted to know what the core meant but knew that it would be a while before he could.

Back to the encyclopedia written by Luke, there were 4 pages full of information found out during the past week. The following is the information found out by Luke (sustainable to change due to new finding by Luke).

Long-horned Bears: A bear with two long spiral horns that end in a sharp tip. Along with a bear's normal way of attacking with claws and biting, the horns were able to be used to charge and pierce the target. Nothing else is known about this creature.

Hypno-geeko: In the tree, there are small groups of geeko with spiral eyes used to hyponotize the opponent and escape afterwards. The known diet of the geekos is small insects, blood berries, and leaves. Nothing else is known about this creature.

Cloud drifter: Expect being seen flying around the clouds by riding on the clouds itself. Nothing is known about these creatures, except that they are very carefree.

Blood Berries: an edible berry that explodes in a red liquid that looks like blood. Almost every herbivore has blood berries in their diet.

Man-Eating Vines: Vines that act like normal vines, but once prey has walked under them or uses them to travel the trees, the vines are active and thorns grow out of them, grabbing the creature. Man-Eating Vines are in symbiosis with Tree spirits. Nothing else is known about this creature.

Tree spirit: The most exclusive creature Luke found in this forest. The only time Luke saw this creature was when a Man-Eating Vine got ahold of prey, and shortly after, the tree the vines were on came to life, and out came the Tree spirit in the tree. The Tree spirit absorbed some type of energy out of the prey, and it died instantly after. In symbiosis with Man-eating Vines. Nothing else is known about this creature.

Luke found no other creatures worthy of note during the week he was traveling through the woods. This whole time, Luke had been eating Blood Berries and was sick and tired of them.Luke wanted some sort of meat from one of those creatures he found. Luke thought of a plan until he found a defenseless creature, a normal rabbit…
