Professor Bard arrived in the Narcissus Duchy some time ago.

He knows that the era before the Elves was known as the Age of Amber... an era ruled by the Winged Ones and the scale bearers, when the "nursed by the Hundred Sons of the Giant Tree" were newly conceived and civilization was still in its infancy. It was not until the death of the second sun that this era began to come to an end, and the era of Elves and Demon Beasts gradually began.

Unlike Avalon and the Holy Nation, which are island nations.

Being a mainland coastal nation, the Helasal Empire should have had traces of ancient civilizations. Yet until now, human history has not confirmed the existence of any eras before the Age of the Eternal Self. The most ancient historical fragments humans have are remnants of "ritual and linguistic civilizations" left after the Fall of the second sun.

Although it is known from the Elves and Dragons that civilization surely existed in that era, they remain oblivious to it. Moreover, the Elves are unwilling to share this secret.

As an archaeologist, there is nothing more exciting than discovering such prehistoric civilizations!

Professor Bard is already very old. Although he looks only fifty or sixty, with hair not all white but completely bald, he is actually from the same era as Meg... This year, he is already ninety years old.

His peer, Minister Drost, already relies on magic potions to sustain his life. Even under this circumstance, Minister Drost has developed an adaptation to the Path of Dusk—essentially, a fear of death.

And Professor Bard being able to still travel abroad at his age is entirely due to the blessings bestowed upon him by the Hourglass as a result of his academic research achievements. So, after obtaining Aiwass the healer, he boldly wanted to initiate an excavation of the Age of the Eternal Self site—because Elves have strict regulations concerning archaeology, and the "Relic Restoration Assembly" principally does not permit non-professionals to conduct archaeology.

They believe that any form of archaeology could potentially damage relics. This is why the old man has yet to find a Priest teammate. No Priests above Bishop dare to come, for fear of offending the Relic Restoration Assembly.

That core force is organized by three Cardinal Archbishops.

Initially, Professor Bard had Aiwass follow him because Aiwass was still a student and not officially ordained clergy— the core rule of "the child isn't sensible" is effective in various places. This way, it wouldn't bring any negative impacts on Aiwass.

The older the relics, the greater the danger inside.

But Professor Bard not only wants to become "the most remarkable historian post-founding of Avalon," but also wishes... to go further.

Historical knowledge does not belong to the nine major paths, but the act of unearthing and restoring history aligns with the concepts of the Path of Balance, the Path of Dusk, and the Path of Wisdom. If he could earn the favor of the Celestial Marshal or even the Pillar God, perhaps he might have a chance to become an Angel Envoy!
