Chapter 407 Sin Card: Night Fiend (Two-in-One)_2

She opened her mouth but ultimately said nothing.

Because there was no need.

She was completely alone, no one cared about her existence.

More tragic than fury was the realization that even her rage had dissipated into nothingness.

Just then, someone tapped her gently on the shoulder.

The Shadow Demon turned half in alarm and half in expectation, only to see a priest in a white robe holding a black umbrella.

Aiwass's robe hem was soaked with blood like splashing waves, and the shadow cast by the umbrella only revealed half his chin.

One could see his lips slightly uplifted. He bowed his head and chuckled softly, his lips moving as if saying something and he slightly extended his umbrella forward.

—It was a very small gesture.

Without allowing himself to get wet in the rain, he had made a tiny space available.

When the Shadow Demon turned back, she quickly began to revert to her former self.

Shadow Demon, Son of the Moon, young lady, little girl...

Finally, she became the trembling girl in a white dress once more and turned to hug Aiwass.

Aiwass did not reciprocate the embrace but simply looked down, both pitying and gentle.

"Vinesse, my little raven."

Aiwass's voice clearly penetrated through the bloody night for the first time.

The next moment, a red curtain was drawn up again.

The whole world was submerged in a sea of blood.

When Aiwass awoke again, he found himself in a layered Mirror Labyrinth.

Countless shattered mirrors surrounded him, each reflecting a Vinesse or rather, fragments of Beyard from different periods.

All of them looked at Aiwass with smiles of varying degrees but all sincerity.

Aiwass raised his hand.

Not forward, but high above.

A huge, horizontal black array instantly arose from the ground and rose swiftly upward.

Under the reflection of the array, the illusions in the mirrors disappeared without a trace.

The array quickly soared into the sky, where a raven pattern emerged.

A dark black seal was branded on the central circle, overlaid on the raven.

In an instant, the array began to collapse from the outermost circle.

Contracting ring by ring, until only the black ring about the height of a person remained in the center.

The raven inside the ring flapped its wings slightly, lifting its head to let out a silent and excited cry.

Aiwass opened his eyes once more, only to find the Night Fiend had vanished without a trace.

And the raven ring, now only a palm's diameter, hovered before Aiwass, staying horizontal to the ground.

And two brand-new Tarot Cards, one above and one below, were slowly emerging from the void, appearing above and below the ring.

Dark electric light connected the two cards in the middle, as if a magnetic force was drawing them together.

The original "The Lovers" card depicted a naked man and woman coming together under the guidance of an angel, with two trees that symbolized fertility and taboo behind them.

The reborn Lovers card featured an emperor and empress puppeteered by a white-robed wizard, drawing closer in a mirror-like yet opposing depiction. Countless overlapping doors framed the sides, while behind shone a pathway of emerging light.

The original Demon card portrayed a red-skinned, long-horned demon seated upon a throne. It looked down at the slaves bound by chains, under its control, smiling cruelly; the slaves had begun to sprout the symbols of a demon—horns and tails.

The reborn Demon card simply showed a three-eyed white goat standing atop a huge phallus. Its spiraling horns resembled two DNA strands, reaching towards the heavens.

Finally, with the gradual formation and clarification of the two cards, they slowly moved towards each other.

The moment the two cards fused tightly together, they burst into a brilliant glow.

It transformed into a thin card as dark as black crystal.

Outlined in blood-like deep red was the shape of a raven.

Chilly, cruel, mysterious.

It spun and soon obediently stopped in front of Aiwass.

Aiwass extended his right hand, lightly touching the card, and signed his name upon it.

Its attributes immediately revealed themselves.

[Great Sin: Night Fiend (The Lovers, The Demon)]

[Level: 50]

[Transcendence Path, Attribute: Darkness]

Sixth Power Level, Superior Phantom.

The true destructive force—a strong ally in defeating the Fallen Celestial Marshal!

Aiwass took a deep breath, suppressing the excitement in his heart, as he examined the attributes of the card.

Sin Cards cannot be "reused" by burning them, but they can be used once a day on each side, the upright and the reverse.

Usually, the upright position is similar to the effect of a spell; while the reverse position is summoning the entity itself.

As expected, the upright effect of this card is indeed a spell effect—

[Upright Summon: Mirror of Night Terrors]

[Requirement: Darkness 5]

[Instant, Non-contact, Immediate effect]

[Effect: Summons the power of the Night Fiend to corrode the target mirror, creating a mirror image of oneself; the mirror image can cast spells, has its own Mana Pool, but cannot make sound, move, use items, or cause any type of damage; the mirror image lasts for one minute, when it is actively shattered or broken by someone else, it deals Shadow/Filth Evil/Curse type damage to the surroundings or to the shatterer, with the ability to switch between damage types, defaulting to the one the target is least resistant to]

[Reverse Summon: Night Fiend]

[Requirement: Darkness 5]

[Maintenance: Darkness 5*per day]

[Action, Summoning]

[Effect: Summons the Envy Beast·Night Fiend to fight for you, the Night Fiend is considered a summoned creature; outside of combat, the Envy Beast·Night Fiend can transform into a Night Raven, entering a follow state; only one Great Sin Beast can exist at the same time]

Like other Sin Cards, its mana consumption is also a firm five points.

The reverse effect is a normal summon, just like calling the Little Butterfly.

As for the upright effect... Aiwass glanced over and found it somewhat interesting.

If Aiwass wasn't misunderstanding, the skill meant he could create a totem that could cast spells by itself.

Though it cannot "cause damage," it can heal!

It's capable of healing, buffing, and even drawing cards with Aiwass, rounding up to be virtually dual-line operation... except that the mirror image cannot deal damage and shatters upon contact.

But even if it shatters on touch, that's alright—because if someone attacks and breaks it, even if the enemy is far from the mirror, they will suffer a counterattack!

If you don't interrupt it, it will stand in its place, healing, dispelling, or buffing; if interrupted, it delivers a potent auto-adaptive counterstrike!

And considering the "independent Mana Pool," it seems the mirror image can cast spells without using Aiwass's own mana!

By triggering it actively, you can also make it explode to deal area damage!

"...This is a PvP skill,"

Aiwass exclaimed with his eyes wide, clearly pleased.

Unlike the Flame Butterfly provided by the Little Butterfly, which can be used repeatedly, it leans towards extreme bursts of power.

The only downside is that the mirror image cannot move.

And if used well... for instance, combined with the "Shadow Cloak" for crowd control and invisibility, it might mislead the enemy into thinking you've used a blink ability, allowing it to absorb damage as a decoy...

After all, this spell has an "instant" effect with a "non-action" spell. This means that Aiwass only needs a thought to make it work, without needing to gesture towards a specific mirror.

Little Butterfly will have to be slightly inconvenienced, though.

Aiwass couldn't let both the travel-form Flame Butterfly and the Night Raven follow him at the same time... he could only have one Great Beast in travel form with him.

Compared to the Little Butterfly, the already battle-ready Night Fiend is better suited to follow.

Not to mention, Aiwass now lacked Shadow Demon, the ever-watchful overseer. Little Butterfly lacked vigilance capability, but Night Raven could make up for that.

Before summoning the Night Raven, Aiwass first took out his Book of Law and placed the card inside.

The counter of [The Grimoire of Aiwass] immediately skipped up two notches, rising to (7/21).

Aiwass's "burn card" usage also went from once a day to twice a day.

At that moment, the Book of Law suddenly underwent a transformation—

It burst into a dazzling radiance, and the Extraordinary Trait that read "unlocked after logging seven Phantom Cards" suddenly revealed itself.

[Extraordinary Trait: At the cost of putting one logged, off-cooldown Phantom Card into cooldown, enhance the effect of a Sin Card of the same attribute]

This was...

"Sin Enhancement!"

Aiwass's eyes widened with delight.

—Worthy of his own Book of Law, indeed every entry was top-notch!
