When the Doctor Uses A Hack

Chapter 1310: The Doctor's Romance (Extra 22/54 for the Tiger Who Walks Like a Cat)

Qin Yue heard her dad's voice from the other side.

The tone carried a mix of helplessness and sorrow, with an undertone of wistful complaint—like a neglected concubine in a deep palace.

Qin Yue suddenly sighed and said to Ji Ruyun, "He's too busy. The only joint activity we have every month at the start is sitting together to look at the shift schedule."

"The two of us sit together, look at the duty roster, and start finding discrepancies. It's impossible!"

Ji Ruyun chuckled, "Come on, Yueyue, you're already considered lucky!"

"Do you know why your dad didn't go into surgery?"

Qin Yue was taken aback—she hadn't thought about this question before. "Why?"

Ji Ruyun reminisced about those days, her expression a mix of laughter and tears.

"When we were dating, your dad had just entered the department. He wasn't great at anatomy, so my daily job was to be his model."

"Other couples were all about romance and gazing into each other's eyes. When the two of us were together, he only ever stared at my sternocleidomastoid muscle, reviewing his central venous puncture point!"

"Back then, I felt like a completely emotionless specimen!"

"But your dad wasn't sensitive to anatomical landmarks or bone structure. Whenever the two of us were together, it was all about practicing physical examination techniques, yet he just couldn't seem to process anything."

Old Qin overheard his wife teasing him and started muttering incomprehensibly under his breath in an attempt to defend himself.

Ji Ruyun laughed, "Doctors are just busy, so we have to understand each other."

Qin Yue nodded, "Definitely!"

"Even though we're both living in the capital, it feels like we're in a long-distance relationship. Even though we're legally married, it feels like we've got a fake certificate! I still end up home alone!"

"Our date frequency is less consistent than a consultation, and watching a movie together has been postponed from Labor Day till now..."

"Every day, the happiest thing is him working on his PPT and me reading my book..."

"One time, we planned to have hotpot together, but while waiting outside, we ended up reading guidelines and forgot to eat completely—we spent two hours on it, haha..."

Ji Ruyun and Qin Yue got along well. While they weren't inseparably close, they shared whatever was on their minds.

Of course, Qin Yue wasn't genuinely complaining about how busy Chen Cang was.

It was more of a casual venting session with her mom.

Ji Ruyun, being experienced, always had satisfying answers for Qin Yue.

Although Chen Cang was very competent, his hectic schedule left him lacking in attention to small details for Qin Yue.

Ji Ruyun's presence compensated for this shortfall perfectly.

When Chen Cang later came out of the bathroom with a smile,

Qin Yue walked over and hugged him proactively, "Hubby, let me give you a massage, okay? You must be exhausted!"

...

...

Early the next morning, Chen Cang played the role of a model husband and purposely cooked breakfast for Qin Yue.

She'd been so thoughtful last night.

Don't ask why; if you must ask, the answer is "I don't know."

Chen Cang's fridge at home was enormous—a double-door one, stuffed full of food.

Living independently, Qin Yue found joy in buying a big fridge.

Yet Chen Cang always wondered how to deal with the fridge when he had to move someday.

After all, tossing something worth over ten thousand yuan felt wasteful.

Thinking it over...

Chen Cang came up with a good solution.

And that was to buy another house and fill it with all the things he loved.

Yep!

That was a good idea.

After sharing breakfast with Qin Yue, Chen Cang headed early to the hospital.

Mornings were hectic, and Chen Cang's presence managed to alleviate much of the rush during the emergency department's peak hours.

At this moment, however, two old ladies started arguing nearby.

Both were up in age. Judging from the depth of their nasolabial folds, Chen Cang estimated they were well into their 60s.

"My family only uses olive oil! Who'd use soybean oil? That's so low-class!"

"Olive oil? Studies have shown that olive oil produces too much smoke and is bad for health! Bootlicking foreigners! Tsk!"

"You just don't understand. We're learning advanced techniques from foreign countries."

...

Their argument grew more intense, and onlookers began trying to mediate.

But as all locals know, when elderly women argue, it's one of the riskiest, hardest-to-diffuse, longest-lasting, and farthest-reaching phenomena in the country.

Judging from their skill level, both seemed quite formidable!

"You're impressive, you're impressive—does your husband have high blood pressure then?"

"Tsk, that's still better than your husband's frequent heart discomfort! At least high blood pressure progresses slowly!"

Turns out, the two women actually knew each other—they were neighbors.

Coincidentally, both husbands had felt abruptly unwell last night and rushed to the emergency department in the morning.

Chen Cang had just finished checking the blood pressure and doing the EKGs for the two elderly men.

Before he could issue any prescriptions or advice, chubby nurse Ah Liu hurried in.

"Professor Chen, there's trouble outside!"

Chen Cang was startled, "Trouble? Then call the security guards! Why call me… it's not like I can fix it!"

Ah Liu, always plump and rosy-cheeked even without makeup, looked distressed by Chen Cang's response, "Professor Chen… the guards can't intervene. It's two old ladies, both around sixty."

"Plus…"

The two elderly male patients exchanged glances the moment they realized it involved older women. Their faces changed instantly!

They weren't surprised; they'd seen this scenario countless times.

Sure enough, it was their wives arguing again!

Without hesitation, they rushed out, full of shame.

Arguing in a hospital—what a spectacle!

Stepping outside, they recognized their wives immediately. Who else could it be?

They hurried over.

"Enough! Stop arguing! Can't you say less? You're even arguing in a hospital!"

"What's the point of arguing? If you want to argue, do it at home! You two can argue anywhere, can't you?"

The two older women froze in place.

"She says your heart disease is my fault because I don't understand health maintenance. I watch health programs every day—how would I not understand health?"

"You don't understand! You blindly follow foreign practices. Chinese bodies mimicking foreigners—if there's going to be a problem, who else would have it?"

Seeing them on the verge of another argument,

Chen Cang quickly intervened!

"Alright, alright, everyone calm down. Let's cool it. If there's anything to say, let's discuss it peacefully!"

The two women glanced at Chen Cang—he clearly wasn't as senior as the previous doctor who'd tried to mediate—and gave him a dismissive look.

Noticing this, Chen Cang promptly said, "If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Maybe I can help clarify things!"

One of the ladies couldn't resist saying, "Doctor, no offense, but when it comes to curing diseases, I defer to you. But when it comes to health maintenance, I'm honestly more professional!"
